Time flew by again and the end of the school year came.
During that time we saw each other less often, busy studying for exams.
And then, as if in the blink of an eye, the school year ended and a new one began.
My sister Miyu enrolled in my school.
It was the first day that she and I went to school together.
"I'm thinking of joining the drama club..." she said, walking next to me.
"Really?"
I wasn't surprised by her decision since she had visited the drama club several times during the past year.
Like me, she was interested in acting and had been planning to join this school for a long time.
She already knew all the members of the club, including Ken, since she often watched us rehearsing scenes in the club room.
"Really? Why are you surprised?" she asked.
"Oh no, I'm not surprised..." I said. "I mean... You've always loved acting..."
"Yes... but I have another reason for joining the club," she said mysteriously.
"Another?" I asked in surprise.
Looking at her, I saw her smile mischievously.
What's on her mind, I thought.
"Yeah... promise you won't tell anyone..." she said.
"I promise..."
"Well, how do I put this..." she started. "Well... Honestly, I like this one guy from the club..."
"Um... a guy from the club?" I asked a little nervously.
There were other guys in the club besides Ken... It didn't have to be him.
"Ken..." she said smiling.
"K-Ken?"
"Yes," she replied.
I couldn't tell if she was joking or not. What? She likes Ken? Since when? And why him?
I felt emotions I'd never felt before.
"Eh... I know it's a bit surprising," she said when she saw that I was silent.
She didn't seem to have noticed my real feelings yet, so I just quickly hid my emotions with a smile.
"Haha! Ken? Are you serious?" I asked.
"Yeah... I know this probably comes as a surprise to you."
"Huh... uh, a little. I just haven't seen you hanging out with him much!"
"You're right," she smiled. "But I fell in love with his acting..."
"Acting?"
"Yeah..."
She looked at me.
"By the way, what is your relationship with him?" she asked. "You're not that close, are you?"
I was silent for a moment, but quickly pulled myself together with a smile and replied, "Yeah, you're right, we don't talk that much..."
"Too bad... I wanted to ask your advice about him..."
"Yeah... I'm not the right person to ask for advice... I don't know much about him..."
I struggled to get these answers out of my mouth.
"I want to spend more time with him..." she continued.
As I smiled... many thoughts swirled in my head.
It shouldn't bother me.
It shouldn't. It shouldn't. It shouldn't. It shouldn't.
And why is she so calm? Doesn't she know he's mine?
Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine!
No... since when is he mine? We're not even dating. Maybe he doesn't even like me!
Why does my heart hurt so much?
"Are you going to confess?" I asked.
She remained calm, completely unaware of my feelings for him.
"Hmm... Not right away," she replied. "I'll make friends with him first, spend more time with him, and then when I'm sure he's interested in me, I'll confess."
She already had a whole plan to confess to him!
Since when?
But... I had no right to stop her. She's my sister... What could I tell her? Don't touch him, I like him too? What nonsense! I don't even know what he thinks of me.
"What did you like about him?" I asked.
"He's so good in romantic scenes! Always so confident! He must have a lot of experience! He seems so cool and mature in those scenes!"
Huh... She's talking about the play our club put on last year, in which my character and his were a couple.
I guess she fell in love with him after seeing that play?
Still... If she is in love with him... I should probably get rid of those feelings for him, as well as our uncertain relationship...
