Vax the strongest weakling

The Subordinate and the Shard

The Subordinate and the Shard

Aug 27, 2025

The air in the Glacial Sanctum grew heavier as the remnants of the guardians lay shattered around Vax and his friends. The victory should have been a moment to catch their breath, but unease filled the icy halls. Far beyond their reach, the Demon Lord had decided it was time to act.

Scene: The Demon Lord’s Command

In his dark citadel, the Demon Lord stood before a massive, swirling portal of shadows. Before him knelt Belze, his most cunning and ruthless subordinate. Belze’s lean, muscular frame was draped in black armor etched with demonic runes, and his piercing crimson eyes glowed beneath his horned helm.

“My Lord,” Belze said, his voice deep and reverent, “you summoned me?”

“Yes, Belze,” the Demon Lord replied, his voice calm yet filled with undeniable authority. “The relic wielder’s power grows stronger. He has claimed the first fragment, and now he seeks another.”

Belze tilted his head. “A mere mortal dares to wield your power? Shall I end him?”

“No,” the Demon Lord said, a smile curling his lips. “Not yet. I want to know more about him. Who he is, what drives him, and whether he is foolish enough to believe he can escape my grasp.”

Belze nodded. “And if he proves to be a threat?”

The Demon Lord’s eyes narrowed. “If he becomes a threat, remind him of his place. Crush him if necessary, but do not destroy the relic. It will return to me when the time is right.”

“As you wish, my Lord,” Belze said, rising to his feet. With a wave of his clawed hand, a portal opened before him. “The boy will know he is nothing compared to the true power of the Abyss.”

Scene: The Shard of Frost

Meanwhile, Vax and his friends stood before a pedestal at the center of the sanctum. Resting atop it was a jagged crystal of ice, its core pulsating with blue light. The temperature in the chamber dropped further, frost forming on their eyelashes as they gazed at the relic.

“This is it,” Selena said, her voice barely above a whisper. “The Shard of Frost.”

Vax stepped closer, the hum of the relic resonating with the energy of his own. As his hand neared the shard, a sharp chill shot up his arm.

“It’s reacting to me,” he said, gripping his relic tightly.

“Be careful,” Alisa warned. “If it’s anything like the one you already have, it won’t be easy to control.”

Vax nodded and reached out, his fingers closing around the shard. A blinding flash of blue light filled the room, and the air crackled with raw magic.

Vax felt the power surge through him—cold and relentless, like a glacier grinding through a mountainside. His breath turned to mist as frost formed on his skin.

“It’s... incredible,” he said, his voice tinged with awe.

Selena stepped forward, her expression serious. “Incredible, but dangerous. If you let this power consume you, there won’t be anything left of the Vax we know.”

“I won’t let that happen,” Vax said firmly, though the whispers of the relics were already growing louder in his mind.

Scene: The Shadows Arrive

Before they could celebrate their success, the shadows that had been sent by the Demon Lord descended upon the sanctum. Dark, twisted creatures with glowing red eyes and razor-sharp claws poured into the chamber, their guttural growls echoing off the icy walls.

“Looks like we’ve got company!” Kael shouted, drawing his weapon.

Selena summoned her magic, a barrier of shimmering light forming around the group. “We can’t fight them all. We need to get out of here!”

Vax gritted his teeth, the new power of the shard coursing through him. “No. We can’t run. If we leave them alive, they’ll follow us—and they’ll hurt others.”

Alisa nodded, raising her sword. “Then we stand and fight.”

The battle was intense. Vax’s combined powers surged as he unleashed waves of crimson and blue energy, freezing and shattering the shadow creatures with devastating precision. His friends fought beside him, their teamwork holding the line against the relentless onslaught.

But as the last creature fell, a new presence filled the chamber—a presence far more powerful and terrifying.

Scene: The Arrival of Belze

From the shadows emerged Belze, his dark armor gleaming with an otherworldly sheen. He surveyed the scene with mild amusement, his crimson eyes locking onto Vax.

“So, you’re the one causing all this trouble,” Belze said, his tone mocking. “I must admit, you’ve exceeded my expectations. Most mortals would have crumbled under the relic’s power by now.”

Vax stepped forward, his fists glowing with energy. “Who are you? Another of the Demon Lord’s lackeys?”

Belze chuckled. “Lackey? I am Belze, commander of the Abyssal Legions and second only to the Demon Lord himself. And you, little mortal, have become quite the nuisance.”

Selena stepped beside Vax, her staff glowing with light. “We’re not afraid of you.”

Belze smirked. “You should be.”

With a flick of his wrist, the shadows around him erupted, forming jagged tendrils that lashed out at the group. Selena’s barrier barely held against the onslaught, cracks forming as the pressure mounted.

Vax surged forward, his relics’ power flaring as he struck at Belze. The clash of energy shook the sanctum, the frost on the walls shattering under the force.

Belze dodged the attack effortlessly, his movements fluid and precise. “Impressive,” he said. “But raw power means nothing without control.”

As the fight continued, it became clear that Belze was toying with them. His strikes were calculated, designed to exhaust rather than kill.

“You’re holding back,” Vax said, breathing heavily. “Why?”

Belze’s smile widened. “Because I’m not here to kill you—yet. My master merely wanted me to see what you’re capable of. And now I’ve seen enough.”

With a wave of his hand, Belze summoned a portal. “Enjoy your victory while it lasts, boy. The Demon Lord is watching, and your time is running out.”

As quickly as he had appeared, Belze vanished, leaving Vax and his friends standing in the shattered sanctum.

Scene: Aftermath and Resolve

The group returned to the academy, weary but victorious. The weight of the battle and Belze’s warning hung heavy in the air.

“What do we do now?” Kael asked, slumping into a chair.

“We get stronger,” Vax said firmly, clutching the Shard of Frost. “Belze was testing us, but next time, they’ll come to kill. We need to be ready.”

Selena nodded. “And we need to find the other relics before the Demon Lord does.”

Alisa placed a hand on Vax’s shoulder. “Whatever happens, we’re with you. We’ll face this together.”

Vax looked at his friends, determination burning in his golden eyes. “Then let’s get to work. The Demon Lord thinks he can control me, but I’ll prove him wrong. This power is mine to wield, and I’ll use it to stop him—no matter the cost.”
