Many hours later, Ragnar returns to the headquarters of Ragnarök known as Helheim. Upon returning, Ragnar enters King Drasil’s throne room to present him with his findings.
“State your reason for being here. What have you found on that planet Ragnar?” Asks King Drasil.
“My lord. I have found what we are looking for. The adaptus program is in the possession of a timber wolf unit driven by a canid.” Says Ragnar, showing King Drasil a hologram of Fenrir.
“I take it you know where it is?” Asks King Drasil.
“If my prediction is correct, and it always is, its next destination will be the Planet Panthera. We will dispose of the drivers and take the adaptus program from there.” Says Ragnar.
“Good. Get all of our troops ready. Once the adaptus program is in our hands, mankind will become the true rulers of the Galaxy.” Says King Drasil before leaving for his mech.
Meanwhile, the Star Riders finish the repairs to Valkyrie and Jotun. Upon completing the repairs, Jotun suggests that the Team should upgrade the mechs in case they run into Ragnarök again. The Team agrees and proceeds with the upgrades. Valkyrie gets her laser cannons replaced with particle cannons while Jotun gets heated buzz saws to replace the old ones. Both of them also get much tougher armor. As these upgrades where being done, Lucian goes to check on Fenrir and notices something. The damage that Fenrir had sustained had been repaired without any maintenance being done. It was as if the adaptus program allowed Fenrir to repair himself. Before he could ponder this thought, the Team arrives at Panthera the Felis home world. As the Team prepares to land, they discuss the intentions of Ragnarök.
“So, what exactly is this adaptus program?” Asks Lucian.
“From what I heard, it’s an ancient piece of technology made by a civilization that no longer exists. The Rebels intended to give it to the Republic but for some reason they didn’t.” Says Ava.
“You mean to tell me the reason Fenrir has his transformation powers?” Asks Garon, perplexed by such a concept.
“It’s more than that. For all we know, the adaptus program is why our mechs are sentient. The true potential of it may be limitless.” Says Ava, pondering the potential of the adaptus program.
“That explains why Ragnarök wants it so badly. If it can give mechs sentience, imagine what it could do in the wrong hands.” Says Jotun, having woken up thanks to the repairs.
“That would mean we’d have to keep Fenrir away from them. Given that Fenrir is essentially patient zero, his connection to the adaptus program is stronger than ours.” Says Valkyrie.
“That is where you’re wrong Valkyrie. Ragnarök won’t stop until they get what they want. It’s up to us to take their asses down for the betterment of everyone.” Says Fenrir, willing to take on Ragnarök.
With the Team in agreement, they all head for Panthera to compete in the tournament and find out more a Ragnarök. Upon landing on the planet, the Star Riders notice that something was off. They landed further away than their intended landing spot. They should have landed at the nearest town or city. Before Ava could check the map, the Garuda explodes right in front of them. It was a trap. Someone had deliberately messed with the map and now the Star Riders were on their own. Before they could process what happened, Jotun points at a nearby cliff face and the Team realize right who set up the trap. A familiar yutyannus stands above the cliff with an army of skeletal dinosaur mechs behind it. Ragnarök had ambushed the Star Riders and intend to finish what they started. But the Team refuses to back down as all of their mechs ready their weapons. It is now up to the Star Riders to fight their way out and take down Ragnarök.
