After regaining their movement, they went back down the broken trail of the former yellow brick road. As they traveled, they could not help feeling like they were being watched. Then they saw a scarecrow sitting in the middle of the road.
Maya pulled out her sword, and Lee grabbed his staff. As they got closer, they saw two, one with a pumpkin head and one that looked like burlap. Maya immediately reacted when the burlap one at top speed jumped from her pole, lunging at them with a scythe. The other scarecrow jumped off as well and was shot by Lee's magic. The other inserted her scythe into the gournd all the plants around began dying. The golden grass turned black. The male scarecrow seemed to have his damaged healed.
"I think you have already figured out who we are, Maya. And you know you don't have a chance. Can you really beat one of the four horsemen and dirty Jack?" The female scarecrow said. Maya recognized them instantly: Patchwork Blaze and Pomeroy Jack.
"Why are you helping Emerald? Patchwork, you are the horseman of famine. Why would you work outside of the Horseman?" Lee shouted.
"It is simple, I DO NOT WANT PEOPLE TO STARVE! Do you really think someone WHO NEARLY STARVED TO DEATH WANTS TO BE THE HOREMAN OF FAMINE! My destiny is my worst nightmare. I do not want to hurt other people. Emerald made a deal with me to have one of the Ark Dragons free me if I helped him." Patchwork said.
"I just joined to be a supportive friend and teammate!" Pomeroy cheerfully explained.
"It does not matter now, Lee. We have to take them down so they do not get in are way. They made their choice to help Emerald." Maya said, jumping into combat with Patchwork.
Patchwork spun her scythe so fast it was basically a saw. Maya countered this with a saw blade made out of wind magic. Lee began fighting Pomeroy. Pomeroy grabbed his pumpkin head and then threw it in the air. He kicked it like a soccer ball forcefully at Lee. It exploded. Lee put up a magic barrier to take the impact. The fight has just started.
