Ophelia had stopped in the middle of the road. For a few seconds everything froze. Then she started running towards the direction she believed Khiel was going in. Thankfully she hadn’t walked too far.
“This corset dress is really the worst” she murmured to herself while sweating profusely.
The running session was not too long; as she caught a glimpse of Khiel from the distance.
“Khiel.. Khiel…” she was calling out loudly.
Khiel turned around, on the lookout of who was calling him. It didn't take a long time for him to notice her. He then started to slowly walk in her direction.
“Looks like you do have something in exchange for my favour in the end.” Khiel said teasingly, eyes sparkling. “ Or could it be that you fell in love at first sight and realised you can't stand staying away from me?”
“How insufferable, it's actually neither of them” Ophelia couldn't catch a breath “Ermm... im actually here because I need to confirm something”
“Ouch.. I was hoping it would be the latter, I really do have the look of a Prince Charming you know”
“May I ask?” She asked while rolling her eyes.
“Okay okay, you may. I'm all ears”
“ I know it might sound like a weird question but… Were you supposed to arrive in Neiustein on September 29th?”
“ Wow, looks like you really had reasons to be suspicious of everybody. I was supposed to arrive on September 29th but I am curious as to how would you know that?”
The air became tense, that playful annoying look of his quickly disappeared.
“ Well as strange as it may sound... I’m actually your mother's friend and it was her who told me that in hopes I could persuade you to meet her…”
“ You should have said that first, You really don't look like an auntie but I guess looks can be deceiving.” he said mockingly “As per my mother, you can let her know I won't be coming”
“ I don't really care what you say about me, but please reconsider… I only just found out but she doesn't have much time to live. All she asked was to meet you again. I beg you, could you please accept.” Ophelia's eyes were filled with tears.
“ I don't understand why you are getting so sensitive when this has nothing to do with you. But my answer still is no, I have forgotten all about her since the day she abandoned me. The same way she forgot all about me. So you can't waltz around here begging me for anything”
“How can you say that… Do you really believe she forgot all about you? The reason I’m speaking to you about this means that she didn't forget about you for even a moment. She told me that she dreamt about you every single night. And every day she didn't stop missing you. I think you are really wrong in terms of your mother, and you should speak with her yourself to clear everything out. You will really regret it once she is gone”
“ I don't know what my mother told you about me. What I do know is that it’s best to leave this chapter closed. Now with all due respect I will take my leave.”
“You can leave all you want, but I will ask you for the last time to think about it. If you change your mind I will be waiting for you in two weeks' time in the market of the Temple of the Gods of the Nieu. If you come, I will make sure you can meet her.”
Khiel didn't respond, he slowly turned around and left without a word.
“I will be waiting for you…” she said, not sure her words would reach him.
