In the heart of the Continent of The Nieu, stood the Kingdom of “Neiustein”. It was a mystical land where people believed magic lived in the hearts of the faithful.
Its capital city, Graystone lived up to its name! Gray stones built streets and rose walls, giving the city a timeless charm. Ancient buildings, crafted thousands of years ago, rose proudly as proof of a rich history and culture. Beyond the city walls, dense forests and wide meadows stretched out for kilometers.
Every invader dreamed of conquering Neiusten, yet it seemed like an impossible dream.
A crystal clear body of water was located right next to the Castle of Day, a magnificently rich castle. Its inhabitants, the royals held absolute power. The people believed that their magic was strong because their faith was fierce.
For the most part vegetation was lush and the lives were prosperous. Its bustling atmosphere was one you could find nowhere else! Like every city, Neiustein was too a place full of stories to tell.
...
In the Northwest of the city, no more than a forty-minute carriage ride from the Castle of Day, stood the Temple of the Gods of the Nieu.
Our story starts in the eighth month of the year 1017. The temple had long been a home for commoners in need, but within its walls only women could find refuge.
Among them was Ophelia, seventeen years old. She had entered the temple three years ago, after losing her family tragically, arriving in great need of shelter. Known as the kindest soul within the temple, she was tall and slender, full of energy, and always there to help. Her beauty, confidence, and intelligence gave her an air of allure, enough even to draw suitors to the temple gates. Yet none of them held her heart.
Instead, her dearest bond was with Katalya, a woman twenty years her senior. Katalya was already living in the temple when she arrived, and as per the circumstances, they got close really fast. Maybe it was because Ophelia saw her mother, her sister in Katalya. She saw her missing family and the love she yearned for. Whatever the reason their relationship grew closer by the day.
Katalya was a bit different from the other girls. Other than being older she wasn't from Nieustein at all. A marriage turned sour forced her to flee her country and seek refuge at The Temple of the Nieu, leaving her son behind - A fate no one would desire but she was forced to live.
…
The sun blazed, illuminating the green scenery with its strong rays. It was a peaceful day - when suddenly:
“Ophelia, I am almost done, could you come help me put up the laundry..” Katalya said, breathing heavily as she had spent all morning washing clothes in the river that was closeby.
“Coming, Coming” Ophelia responded in a rush, “ The workload has increased lately, there are many people in need, but not enough people in the temple to help.. And Katalya you are pushing yourself too much lately don't you think?” she whispered to her friend as the Head Priestess was passing by.
“Maybe I am” Katalya muttered, “ I must admit i'm not feeling too well latel…”
Katalya collapsed with a heavy thump. She suddenly went so pale. Ophelia couldn't even react. Her mind went blank. Then she started shouting out desperately:
“ Help, Help, Head Priestess, Somebody.. Please help us!”
