Emotionless Emotions of a Cyborg

Nex'Zhar, the Inky Alien

Nex'Zhar, the Inky Alien

Sep 08, 2025

A very large one, it definitely (and obviously) didn't come from Earth; it came from outer space. It was changing forms and the colour is black, pitch black.

The cocoon looked liquid, more liquid than solid. May got up and stood beside it.

The cocoon was also 1 or 2 inches taller than her, which made her blush and offended her for a second.

“Hmph… even a freaking cocoon is taller than me, just how short am I!?” She yelled.

A high, ovular cocoon above May's height, made of rippling black ink, constantly shifting between fluid and semi-solid. The surface glides like viscous oil, with soft violet veins flowing across its shape like cabling. Droplets and tendrils of ink float away but hang suspended in the air, never falling.

The cocoon shines like a liquid galaxy, sometimes resolving into hints of eyes, hands, and faces before dissolving into shape again. It pulses with a slow, steady rhythm—alive, waiting, observing.

The droplets of the ink float and surround May. The droplets took the shape of a galaxy, and they also were shining brightly because of the full moon in the sky. May was in awe of the beautiful galaxy-shaped ink surrounding her, but then, the cocoon opened up, like a venus flytrap.

May was curious; she was always one curious girl. May peeked inside the cocoon, nothing, there was nothing in the cocoon, just ink moving around inside.

What a letdown, I thought something amazing inside would pop up or something. She sighed in disappointment.

“Well, I guess I need to figure out how to get out of this hole. Yuki is gonna worry if she doesn’t see me in the morning,” she said, looking around for ways to get out.

But then, she heard a voice, a faint one. It sounded like a deep, guttural, gravelly, raspy, and monstrous voice.

“You are mine,” the voice said to May, but before she could do anything, it went inside her mouth.

A pitch black, gooey, inky substance popped out of the cocoon at high speeds. As it crawled and wiggled through May’s throat, it went through every small crack, going in between the molecules and atoms. And now, it has finally reached and touched May’s heart.

May choked and couldn’t breathe. After a while of struggling, she could breathe again, which relieved her. But then, the same guttural and deep voice spoke in her mind, which made her jump in fear and surprise.

“HUMAN!!” it shouted at May inside her mind.

“Yeeep!!” screamed May. “Who are you?!”

“Me? Heh heh heh… My name is… NEX’ZHAR!!!” Nex’Zhar proudly said, she could imagine what it would look like if he were to appear in front of her.

“Nex…Zhar?” May asked. She seemed confused about the name.

“Yes! Nex’Zhar! That’s my name! You got a problem?”

“Uhh… your name is kinda weird, I got you from outer space, but still.”

This was weird for May. She had never interacted with an actual alien before; this was all so new to her. Maybe aliens are real after all.

“What?! You dare say that my name is weird, human?!” Nex’Zhar angrily said to her.

“Um, sorry?”

“What the hell do you mean by ‘um’?!”

“Nothing, nothing. What are you, anyway? Some alien species or something, and how are you capable of speaking perfect Japanese? I expected you to speak some weird alien language.”

“Well, first, I am an ink alien, and a species called ‘The Zharithids’! The Zharithids are known for locating plants for hosts to combine with, because if they don't, they will die in a few billion years, and that's the age for toddlers in my species.

“A few billion years?! And you said that's the age for toddlers?! How old are you?!”

“Just 3 billion years old. Anyways, Zharithids, after obtaining and having a good bond with their host, will become stronger along with their host. If their host dies, then they have to find a new host. To find hosts, we turn into cocoons, like one of those pretty bugs on this planet, and then we launch ourselves millions of light-years per hour into outer space.”

“Wait, how will you make me into your host then? Take control of my body and organs?”

“No and yes, we take control of your soul, body, and mind, well, half of it. First, we need to go inside your heart, so we liquify even more and go in between your molecules and atoms to go inside your heart. Inside your heart is your soul, and then we take control of half of it. Every soul is like this. For the alien species that don't have any organs, it will be located in the middle of their body.”

May listened carefully. May never knew aliens were real, but now she knows. And she's getting good knowledge and information from Nex’Zhar. She thought Nex’Zhar would eat her or something, but it looks like he didn't come here to do that.

“And also…” Nex’Zhar continued. “The Zharithids feed on the emotions, memories, and vitality, but I am the only Zharithid that thinks they taste disgusting. That's why I'm here; they banished me because they thought I was a traitor, just because of food. And also, I can detect what language you speak just by reading energy signals, and I can speak it because it's just that easy.”

“That's…stupid. Why would they banish you just because you thought those 3 things were disgusting? And is Japanese really that easy?”

“Yes, it is very easy for me. And I dunno, weirdos am I right? By the way, I was supposed to be sent off to a different planet, but I came here because I felt a surge of huge potential energy flowing through you. Maybe in just a few years, or even months, you can control my power.”

“Wait, what? Me? You think I can do that? If I had that much potential, I would've been the smartest person alive then!” May said loudly that she would believe she had that much potential flowing through her, but she thought it was a joke.

“Well, it's true, my abilities never lie to me. Anyways, where was I? Oh yeah, the Zharithids are born in the void between universes. We also can’ live on our own without hosts, like I said before, only for a few billion years, though, before we crumble and die. Would you like me to show you my true form?”

“Sure, impress me, Nex'Zhar.”

The gooey black ink substance came out of her body, combining into one. The ink shifts into millions of different shapes, eventually molding into his true form.

A black humanoid body with light white dots that looked like stars. Nex'Zhar’s eyes looked like galaxies and had tentacles sticking out of its back, 4 to be exact. He stood 6 feet 5 inches tall, and his eye color was pure white. Nex'Zhar is pretty scrawny, not to be rude, but he has sharp and long fingernails, or are those even fingernails?

“Now this, this is my true form, intimidating, right?” Whenever he opens his mouth, the inside of his body is white, just like the galaxy patterns, a whole different colour from his skin, which is pitch black.

Strings of his black skin connect his upper and lower jaw. His teeth were the same colour as his skin, but were pretty sharp. It was his teeth that had the strings of black skin connecting the upper and lower jaws.

But for some reason, May was scared or frightened by Nex’Zhar; she was more fascinated by his looks than being scared. Small, little ink droplets dripped down his body. Well, he did come from a species that is made from an inky substance after all.

Hi everyone, Sunshine ☀️here, just finished episode 20, let's gooo.

Mini Life Update No.11

Well, this episode is pretty long, and there is a lot of dialogue in it, too. Sorry if I had to make you guys read it because I know some of you are on mobile, and it could get difficult to read. But it's fine if you scroll past, you can always read it again (right?).

But the long paragraph-like dialogue is actually important because it tells Nex'Zhar's home planet and where he comes from, so I would really appreciate you guys if you read it, but you don't have to, like I said, you could always read it later.
