It’s only been a few months since I was born into this world.
Lately, my crawling speed has really picked up—but with it came a nagging question:
—Why was Rabbichu already by my side?
There’s no doubt in my mind anymore: this is the world of Monster Pockets. The texture of the backgrounds, the way monsters are categorized, even the tone of the NPC dialogue—it’s all unmistakable.
But still, there’s no version of the game where the player character reincarnates with Rabbichu already beside them. He was supposed to be a rare spawn in a grassy field early in the game, not… this.
“Kyu!”
Rabbichu is right next to me now, gently wiping away my drool. I’ve never seen a version of him like this.
The key to this mystery likely lies with my “family.”
One day, I was being held in my mother’s arms as we strolled through the garden. Rabbichu hopped along behind us, and my mother smiled softly at the sight.
“This little one… he really likes you, doesn’t he? His name is Rabbichu. They say he’s your fated monster.”
—Fated?
“An old fortune-teller, a friend of your father’s, once said something curious: ‘When this child awakens, the mark of the stars that will change the world will be by his side.’”
…So we’re leaning fully into fantasy prophecy now. But if Rabbichu is that “mark,” then he’s the sign of fate… a one-star sign.
“He was originally meant to be sent to the Royal Magic Academy,” she continued, “but then… Rabbichu happened.”
Her eyes softened.
“The night you were born, he broke out of his cage. He came straight to your crib, and just like this…”
She reached out and gently brushed my cheek with her fingers, mimicking his feathery rabbit ears.
“He stayed right there all night, making soft little kyuu kyuu noises, watching over you the whole time.”
And in that moment, I understood everything.
This Rabbichu—is that Rabbichu. The one I raised to +999.
In other words… he reincarnated with me.
His data didn’t just vanish—it became a soul, carried over into this world alongside mine. No… this goes beyond coincidence. This is fate.
“That’s why, Kanon,” my mother whispered, “Rabbichu is a part of you. I know he’ll stay with you, always.”
“…Kyu.”
Rabbichu gently licked my hand.
That was something he never did in the game. Our eyes met, and for a brief second… I could’ve sworn I saw a flicker of true will behind his gaze.
That night, I overheard my parents talking at the dinner table, while I crawled quietly down the hallway as usual.
“…What do you think about him? Do you think he really is a reincarnated soul?”
“Hard to say. But that Rabbichu… he’s not normal. Even diagnostic magic returned ‘unmeasurable.’”
“My concern is… if the Academy or the Royal Capital finds out, they might try to requisition him again…”
“I won’t let that happen. I don’t care if it’s a royal order—we’ll protect him.”
…They’ll protect me. As family.
The warmth of those words stirred something deep inside me.
Even if I can’t speak yet, I am their child.
Reincarnating with Rabbichu… being born into this family… maybe it all has meaning.
And that’s why I swear:
I’ll protect them—my family, Rabbichu, and this world.
Even if I’m just a one-star… I’ll rise to the challenge.
