A few days after their short adventure to the abandoned barn. By the way, it seems pretty weird to be sent at a random place by villagers from a random small village, since that is what the villagers wants to get the small house repaired, Yao Qiu instantly accepted, he doesn’t want to risk dying this early.

After a few days of hard working, the house is now fully renovated, it doesn't look so good but that's only what two non-professional house builders could do and all of that for free.

Yao Qiu is walking in rounds in the village, clearly worried about Pan Rong's return. In fact, more than a hundred years ago, way before Hong Zihan's became Yao Qiu, the demon god tried as much as they could to turn the Earth to ashes and to make everyone a demon. But they failed thanks to a group of demon hunters and demon killers, Hong Zihan was a part of this group, his life ended while trying to defend the world against Pan Rong.

Back to the present, Yao Qiu keeps walking in circles around some houses in this village, everyone keep staring at him as if he is some lunatic. Some worried ladies eventually end up approaching him to ask if there is something wrong, he keeps saying that everything is fine to just keep walking in the exact same pattern.

After a few more minutes tracing a path on the rocky and dusty floor, Lang Xinya finally shows up from nowhere to grab Yao Qiu's arm in order to stop him, the demon hunter interrupts :

-"What are you doing Yao Qiu ?"

-"I'm just thinking." The latter replies, ready to walk again in the path he created but Lang Xinya stops him again by grabbing him once more by the arm.

The anxious demon master turns around and looks at Lang Xinya's hand before looking at his face. The one holding his arm asks :

-"What's wrong ? Please explain."

-"Pan Rong is coming back so we need to protect those villagers. You said demons were after me, right ? So we need to protect the village if we want to stay here longer."

Lang Xinya is looking around, he is checking if any of the villagers here can handle a fight against a demon. After a few seconds, he realises that there's a huge majority of elders in this village and that there are probably no demon hunters :

-"Yes, you are right. They can't defend themselves and I won't let anyone die in here."

After a few more seconds thinking and rubbing his chin, he keeps talking :

-"Now we have to find protective talismans and other stuff like that."

Yao Qiu instantly gets the brilliant idea of going to the chief's house, since they are the most important one in this village, they must have higher protection than the other poor and unprotected villagers.

After a few times struggling to, first find the chief's house, then to negotiate or persuade the village's chief to let two young strangers enter their house. Lang Xinya and Yao Qiu finally succeed, the demon hunter was the one speaking the most, Yao Qiu seems to be more of an introvert in this life.

They are now walking in a pretty big garden with the village’s chief. The latter obviously decided to accompany the two young men in case they turn out to be thieves. They all quickly arrive at a trapdoor closed on the floor, the chief opens it with a bit of difficulty due to their age.

This trapdoor leads to an underground, the walls are all made of rock. It seems like people dug a big hole, without upgrading its walls and floor, so it is all dirt and rocks, it is like they build this place in a hurry.

As they walk deeper in the underground, they see a lot of pots, probably full of food, like a huge stock of food for winters. All three of them keep walking in the dark and fresh place until arriving in front of a heavy metal door, as if it is protecting something precious. After spending a few seconds unlocking that door, the chief turns around and orders the two young men :

-"Now open it and get what you want. It is too heavy for my poor arms." They say while hiding a bundle of keys in their sleeve before starting to walk back to the exit of this dark place. They'll be waiting right outside the place, still cautious about the two young men's intentions.

Lang Xinya gets close to the door and struggles a bit to lift and open it, observed by Yao Qiu. A huge amount of dust gets off the door, Lang Xinya's hands are now all covered in dust, he wipes his hands on his light coloured, almost white hanfu. So a big stain appears on his clothes, it doesn't bother him for now, since his mind is busy thinking about if he'll find enough stuff to protect a whole village, even if it is small they'll need a lot of protective things.

As Yao Qiu walks in the room, he sees some writings on the walls, so he lights it up with a torch the village's chief gave him earlier. He can read "The Demon God is finally gone. The whole world is now at peace. Let's pray for those protective talismans to be useless for a really long time, or even forever."

The demon master touches it to take some dust and pieces of rocks out of it but at this right moment a spider decides to come out of its web and falls on Yao Qiu's hand. The latter, who was fearless in his past life starts to scream out of fear, he never yelled like that before. Lang Xinya suddenly turns around to face Yao Qiu, who is shaking his whole arm really hard in hope of taking the spider away from him.

The demon hunter takes out his sword and rushes to Yao Qiu, quickly asking :

-"Where ? Where is the danger ?"

Yao Qiu suddenly stops moving, showing his hand to Lang Xinya, the spider is still there. The wimp one does not dare to move anymore, in case the spider attacks. It would already have attacked if it wanted. Lang Xinya, rolls his eyes and sights before putting back his sword away and simply softly taking the spider to put it back on the wall. Then he sees the thing written, he turns around to face Yao Qiu :

-"Why wouldn't you tell me about this ?" He takes some time to read it silently, he keeps talking afterwards "So, what you said is true ? Pan Rong really existed." He says that, obviously seeing that those writings all seem really old.

After realising it is true, Lang Xinya doesn't want to lose time over something engraved in a wall. So he turns around and does a simple move with his hand to create a source of light from the golden magic he acquired after a long time of self-cultivation. This weak source of golden light is strong enough to light up the entire room, which is pretty small.

They now keep walking inside of it, Yao Qiu behind Lang Xinya, being extremely careful in case other spiders would show up. After only a few steps, Lang Xinya stops in front of a large piece of fabric which seems to be covering something, it might be the protective items they're looking for !

Lang Xinya does another gesture to keep the light up in the room, so he can take the piece of sheet away from the artefacts needed. When he takes off the sheet, a lot of dust flies in the air, showing the tools below it hasn't been touched in a while, maybe for more than 100 years. Lang Xinya takes a talisman, examines it, then he realises :

-"That's strange..."

He keeps examining it, reading the writing on it, Yao Qiu approaches and takes a look at it, while still behind the demon hunter, so he gets closer and looks from Lang Xinya's shoulder. The demon master instantly recognises those talismans, it is in fact the exact same type as the talisman he used to stop Pan Rong, 100 years ago.

-"Wait, let me see." Yao Qiu violently takes the talisman from Lang Xinya's hands, then he closely examines the piece of paper.

Before he can say anything, Lang Xinya points out :

-"Erm... I'm not sure you can understand what it is, I can't figure out what it is as well. I've never seen that before."

But after only a few more minutes analysing and reading it, Yao Qiu hesitates to talk. Of course, if he tells Lang Xinya that it is a protective talisman older than 100 years, he'll find it a bit weird. But what the demon hunter would find even weirder is that Yao Qiu, the 'random guy', actually knows how to perfectly use it, it was indeed the last thing he touched and used before dying as Hong Zihan.

Yao Qiu hesitates to talk for a short moment, he obviously wants to help those innocent villagers :

-"Those are protective talismans from 100 years ago. And erm... I know how to use it. Same with those things." He says, pointing at the artefacts still covered in dust despite the large piece of fabric which protected it. The demon master is indeed scared to reveal this.

The other one slightly frowns his eyebrows, then he asks :

-"How can you know how to use it ? I mean... You don't seem to be powerful at all."

Yao Qiu is obviously a hurt by what Lang Xinya just said, he used to be a strong and powerful demon hunter in his previous life. But he says nothing about that comment on him, he just make up some lies, by the way he doesn't care much to lie :

-"I just erm... I just like to learn about things, that's why I know about it." He turns around, smiling, to face Lang Xinya. The demon hunter still has his eyebrows frowned, he is now directly looking at Yao Qiu's eyes, it seems like Lang Xinya is suspecting the one in front of him to lie.

They are both in the dark underground, facing each other and their only source of light is the weak golden light produced by Lang Xinya’s power. If the demon hunter wants to get rid of Yao Qiu, knowing he is related to demonism, it is the perfect moment.

Lang Xinya could kill the one in front of him extremely easily, that is why Yao Qiu is a scared in this situation.

Yao Qiu doesn't know if he is blushing because of the fear he is feeling right now or because Lang Xinya keeps staring at his eyes, without blinking.

The demon hunter finally talks :

-"From what I remember, they stopped producing those kind of talisman way before our birth and most of what was left got destroyed. Are you lying to me ?" Lang Xinya is crossing his arms in front of Yao Qiu, blocking the only way out.

Hearing this, the one wearing a really dirty hanfu is panicking, he wonders 'What if he knows I'm a demon master ? He's gonna kill me for sure !... I need to say something.' But, since he is taking too long to think, Lang Xinya lost patience, so he just gives up :

-"Alright... If you say you can use it, you'll teach me how to do it and we'll protect this village."
