The sun spilled over the city, sharp and clear, a contrast to the hazy chaos of the night before. Adrian buttoned his shirt carefully, smoothing out the faint wrinkles as he stared into the mirror. He had promised himself that today would be different — no distractions, no nightlife, no unnecessary drama. He needed stability, something real.
The hotel loomed tall when he arrived, a glass-and-stone monument that exuded wealth and power. The golden letters above the entrance gleamed, but Adrian didn’t pay much attention to the name. He was too focused on the thought of opportunity. He had sent in his résumé days ago and was shocked when he’d been invited for an interview for the Managing Director role. It was ambitious, yes, but he knew he had the drive to make it work.
Inside, the lobby radiated elegance. Polished marble floors reflected crystal chandeliers, and a faint scent of roses lingered in the air. Guests moved about briskly, their luggage rolling behind them, while receptionists smiled with practiced warmth.
Adrian approached the desk.
“Good morning. I’m here for an interview with the hiring board,” he said, his voice calm though his heart beat like a drum.
The receptionist gave him a professional smile. “Yes, Mr. Adrian. Please take a seat. Someone will be with you shortly.”
He nodded, choosing a chair near the corner of the lobby. He glanced around, studying the place — the efficiency of the staff, the perfection of the décor, the quiet dominance in the air. This was no ordinary hotel. Whoever owned it clearly understood power.
Moments later, a man in a dark suit approached. “Mr. Adrian? This way, please.”
Adrian followed him into a sleek boardroom. A long table stretched across the space, silver trays with water and coffee lined up neatly. A panel of three sat waiting, their eyes sharp and evaluating.
“Welcome, Mr. Adrian,” one of them said. “We’ve reviewed your application. Let’s begin.”
Adrian sat, his confidence steady. He had no idea whose empire he was stepping into, or that the decisions he made in this room would entangle him even deeper with the girl who, just last night, had walked away leaving sparks of irritation in his chest.
