“Hmm, let's review because this doesn’t seem right.”
Seriously?
“Yes, now then, I found the case, changed my car, went to the crime scene, blah blah blah, went back to the lab. Yep everything is in order.”
Exactly. Now can we please get back to the story and stop this nonsense?!
“Fiiiine, jees what a grouch.”
Jane went back to the police station and went into the lab. She tinkered with the machines and caused a mess that would make fair maidens faint. The Chief stormed into the lab and was shocked by the aftermath of Jane’s… erm work.
“What is the meaning of this, Jane?” He shouted from the top of his lungs. Jane spun around and gave him a nervous yet cheeky smile. “Hey, Chiefy! I was just um…working on a case.”
“A case?! Jane, this is the 15th time you tried solving a case, and every time something gets destroyed!” He explained while leaning his muscular bicep on the doorframe. “Oh please, I don’t break something every time.” She shrugged with a smirk.
“What about the time you thought you could solve a murder and it ended with the body in flames because you wanted to be like Sherlock Holmes and put candles everywhere instead of using the lights, causing you to not see that the water was gasoline?” He blankly says while crossing his arms.
“It’s not my fault the mortician bumped into the candles!” She pleaded. “Oh sure, and that time you thought a bunch of punks were smuggling drugs in fireworks so you tried testing them and it caused a chemical combustion and sent the fireworks all over the station wasn’t your fault either, right?” He bluntly asked.
“Uh well um..”
He’s got you there, Jane.
“Shut up, narrator!”
“I’m sorry Jane but we can’t afford any more of your little make believe sessions. I'm afraid that… we're gonna have to fire you.” He says with sincerity.
“What?! You're giving me the boot?!” She shouted before getting kicked out of the station. Carrying her belongings to her car she finds her convertible being towed away.
“Wait, that’s my car!” She screamed. She dropped her belongings and ran to the tow truck driver. “Wait, that’s my car!”
“Yeah, I know Missy. But you didn’t keep up with the payments so the bank is reclaiming it.” He explained before driving away.
I told you that you couldn’t afford that car.
“You did that on purpose!”
Perhaps, but we can get your car and your job back by the end of the book!
“Oh?”
Yes, Jane. You just have to trust me.
“Alright, boss man. Where to?”
Let's go to the cash bar, there you will find a detective that was fired and is looking for a new case.
“Huh, sounds like a real piece of work.”
He is, now listen closely, this is the same case that got him fired. So let’s be very respectful towards him.
“Got it!”
Jane walks to the cash bar and sees a dashing, rugged man. Chizzled jawline, stubbled beard, blue tired eyes, black fluffy hair.
“Awooga! What a hot mess he is!”
Remember, Jane, be respectful.
“Right, right.”
She sat down next to him. “Hey, whatcha drinking?” She asked with a big smile. He didn’t answer her, he just drank his drink. "Not stalking are we? Well I'll make it quick because we're on a very tight schedule and we gotta get through this before chapter three. I need some help with a case that you worked on years ago. The case of the diamond."
The words that came out of her mouth shell shocked him and he got up quickly, "come on we have to find that damn diamond! I've been waiting for this moment for years." He says triumphantly before dashing towards the door.
"Now we're talking!" Jane shouts while following the detective.
A snarky paper pusher at the police station gets fired for trying to solve a case of the missing diamond, so she teams up with the cop who originally worked on the case. Will she get her dream job of being a detective?
