She hovered in the sky on iridescent wings anchored to a corset. She had chosen the 'Magical Girl' name of 'Faery'. Not very creative, she knew, but she had thought that it fit with her Forest Fairy costume.
'Faery' had never been so grateful in her life as she had been the night tthe Sword and Shield System injected into her blood activated to have put so much effort into making a stupid Halloween costume. Her efforts, according Kliona, gave the nanites more and better material to work with. The better the material, the better the results that the nanites can yield.
Hovering behind her was the person that had given her and the others the answers that they had desperately needed in the aftermath. Thay had even taken her and the others to see a rather surprised Kliona.
She had since learned that he called himself Leo. He looked like a lion with a mane and tail tip made of fire. Beneath his feet were flames that seemed to hold him aloft. He was currently looking for a girl who had activated the Sword and Shield System in all of them, then set them all free. His only clue was that her Sword and Shield passcode was 'Silver Star'.
For now, he was continuing to help her and the others in the war against the Vos that they had taken on... Even if he did disappear at random intervals for equally random intervals of time.
Stupid blood transfusion. She thought, not for the first time.
“She's on our side.” Leo said of the strange woman who had helped her friend, “A Nyakka Star Born.”
“Yet more terms to remember.” Faery groaned at him.
“You have the attention span of a gnat." He said disparagingly, "She's an alien. From the Nyakka species. Star Born, like me.”
“Oh. Right.”
“You don't remember what 'Star Born' means, do you?”
“Uhg. It means that a sentient, star-like being willed her into existence in order to communicate with the...”
“Nyakka.”
“Sorry. Thank-you. To communicate with the Nyakka. On a molecular level star-matter molecules are contained via the 'shell' of other molecular configurations meant to match the species that they are meant to communicate with. There, happy?”
“Actually, yes.”
“Well, whatever.” Faery said, “I'm inviting her to our hideout.”
And then she dropped to the ground before Leo could object.
Well, He mused, It's probably better this way. But I suppose that I should probably leave before she recognizes me...
Leo turned and walked away, fading out of view. That particular Nyakka had tried to stop him from taking a Sword and Shield carrier and using their blood to create Faery and the others. He didn't see what the problem was; they had betrayed their own and left them scattered and defenceless. Turnabouts fair play, as the Humans are want to say.
Or is it that saying about karma that applies here?
No, no... That's not it.
Ah. Now he had it; you reap what you sow.
That betrayer should not have turned on the Eiseros and left the entire planet vulnerable to a Vos attack. Now Leo had to take some slightly extreme measures to ensure that the Vos were defeated. Hopefully, he wouldn't need anymore of that blood.
