Magical beasts/harpies

Magical beasts/harpies

Oct 15, 2025

Magical beasts are able to use a more variety of magic and are stronger. Magical beasts, like humans, have personal magic, but unlike humans, the personal magic is specific to not just an individual but to a family. For example, a family of magical beasts that resembles a wolf but about the size of an average two story house, with a lion mane and a venomous bite can use earth and wind elemental magic but for the family magic, they can control their size.
Magical beasts are incredibly intelligent
Magical beasts are closely connected to not only the earth and world but also to the deities. More specifically to Kalata.
Magical beasts are the animals that have died and have been allowed to be reborn as magical beasts.
Magical beasts have their own language (all magical beasts speak one language) Humans are unable to understand them.
Although a type of magical beast, harpies are unique as they are servents to the deity Delgrah.
They kidnap people and steal things and offer them as sacrifices and offerings to Delgrah as a way to protect the world.
They will take whatever they can carry and hold in their talons.
Harpies have the body of a bird and the face of a human. They can take the full appearance of a bird
There are hundreds of different types of harpies as they come in different types of birds, for example there are robin harpies and vulture harpies. Some will steal more than kidnap and others are more likely to kidnap. This depends on their size and abilities.
They are known for causing sudden and sharp gusts of wind.
Not only do they steal and kidnap for the sake of protecting the world but it is also an instinct to do so as it is a remnant of when they served Delgrah.
Over years harpies managed to gain more control over their actions, however not all of them were able to so there are still many who do sacrifice humans and objects. There are families/clans that no longer have the instincts as their ancestors found another way to please Delgrah, for example rather than sacrificing humans they may sacrafice animals or something that is equivalent.
Their blood is black and they can use it as a weapon (as seen in the main story)
When they eat people they absorb the magic contained in the person, using the acid in their stomach to preserve the body itself. They use the body as the sacrafice to Delgrah.
