Wonder pushed himself onwards, into the deep black and green, in search of a deserted pond. One such pond, with any luck, would be home to a Kelpie. He walked on for about an hour until he found it.
A clearing with a small puddle of water in the center. The marshy grass around the area rippled slightly with the breeze. This pubble was a deceiving one. It was much bigger underneath the grass. Wonder stayed in the tree line, waiting. For an animal, or a bird, to come by and be snatched up by the supposed Kelpie inhabiting the area. But none came.
After a second of debating, he decided to act. Wonder would be stupid to go out into the clearing. The grass wouldn’t hold his weight, he would simply sink and if there was a Kelpie, it could easily snatch him up through the floating land mass. So instead, Wonder took a rock and gently tossed it in. Then as the rock sank slowly, and the ripples faded… nothing happened. Until of course they did. A large, black figure burst through the surface.
