Chapter 2

Ellie woke up in a grass field, with many big green trees. The ones you’d expect to come alive, what are those called? Ents? Anyway, a lot of trees. In the distance Ellie saw a town of some sorts, but very medieval. She squinted to see many different people, including more of those horned, red skinned things. One of the ones that attacked her in the alley. Ellie looked around her to see if she had anything, all she had was a music player and headphones. Two things Ellie would never live without, but in this kind of situation? Ellie got up, and started her walk to what she hoped was the village that could help her.

There were no walls, no archers, no defenses of any kind. All there were, were people looking over the horizon. One person came up to her, they had pointed ears, like elves maybe? Ellie was just going over what she’d heard from movies.

“State your business.” Said the Elf lady.

Ellie looked back to the fields, then back at the lady. “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.” She said,

The Elf lady squinted then nodded, “Don’t be too sure, there are a lot of things people will believe in the multiverse.”

Just that made Ellie curious, but she walked into the village. It was a fast-building community, many people were building houses and shops. Plenty of people were selling goods, but Ellie just walked aimlessly. Suddenly a man pushed her to the ground, she got up quickly and looked at them. He was a tall elf, about her age. Or more? Do elves age differently? Doesn’t matter, whoever they were, they were giving her problems.

The Elf smiled, “Got any money kid?”

Ellie got to her feet, and tried to summon her blue magic to no use. “No, I just got here.”

The Elf nodded, “Alright, then get up and give me those headphones you got.”

Ellie was confused at first, “You know what these are?”

The Elf looked at her angrily, “Oh, the big smart human thinks I know nothing. What a surprise.”

Ellie had no idea what she just got into, but continued talking to the man. “I’m not giving you my headphones.” She felt energy building in her hands again, “Now back off!”

The Elf was looking at her hands, “What kind of magician are you?” He summoned two balls of fire that shot at her. She dodged and got close enough to punch the kid in the face, he stepped back once. He created some kind of fire in his hand, and threw it at her. The bolt went right past her, and she felt the energy she had before come back to her. She thrust her hand forward, and a blast of energy erupted. It hit him, and a deep gash appeared at his arm. He screamed, and stared at her. Then many people looked over at them, he shook his head and ran off. Leaving Ellie in complete and utter confusion.

Ellie quickly got out of the scene, knowing something like that would probably draw attention. She found a small shop called bountiful and went in to hide for a bit, her clothes were ripped and her hair was singed. Great.

She went up to the shopkeeper. They had super long ears, maybe bigger than the elves did. “Hello, um. I don’t have any money, and I don’t exactly know where I am. Can you help me out?”

He looked up and at her, “You ok kid? You look like you just went through the void itself.”

Ellie didn’t understand what they were talking about, but nodded. “What is that exactly?”

They got his attention, “Kid, where are you from?”

Ellie shrugged, “New York, I saw some people fighting a giant lizard. Guess I wasn’t supposed to see that, so a guy with horns went up to me and tried to erase my mind. Somehow I was able to resist it, and I shot him with some kind of blue energy. I turned around and got sucked through a portal of some kind, to here, and I don’t exactly know where here is. Mind helping me out?”

The man nodded slowly, “Alright kid, welcome to Marshlake. This is the realm of the elves, but with the help of the Master Knight’s foundations, we have become a realm for all. Demons, Supers, Humans, and Elves all living together.”

Ellie nodded, “Alright, that makes sense, but what about the whole magic thing? What’s that about?”

The man nodded again, “Ya, that’s the power of the void. We all became connected to the void after the demon HIM ripped a hole in the multiverse, now all of us can control the elements of the multiverse. Fire, Water, Earth, Lightning, Air, Light, Dark, you name it.”

Ellie nodded again, “So that’s what I can do.”

The man squinted, “What do you mean?”

Ellie shrugged, “Ever since that guy in the alley tried to use his magic on me I’ve been able to absorb magic, more or less, and it seems the magic I can absorb I can use as magical energy.”

The man nodded, “Alright then, I think I can help you kid.”

Ellie looked at the man, “You can? How? Do you have a multiversal portal around here?”

The man shook his head, “No, but we do have the MDSC. It’s what the Master Knight runs, he’s the one you need to talk to.” The man started looking around under the table for something, then Ellie realized where the scout in the alley had come from. He’d tried to take her to the MDSC, if this is where that guy wanted her to go, she didn’t want to be there.

Ellie looked around and just ran for the door, but the man used some kind of magic to close the door. “Come on! I’m not going to the MDSC!”

“You must if you truly do have magic this powerful.” Said the man, a wave of darkness set in around him. Soon the entire room was enveloped in darkness, Ellie looked around with no luck.

“Let me out!” She yelled, she felt her weird powers start to grow inside her once more. The darkness of the room subsided, and the man stood in front of her, hands still faintly glowing of magic. She felt all the energy she now had inside her, maybe energy she could use. She thrust her power at the man, and he flung back to the counter where he once was. She felt ecstatic of what she was now able to do, but she then felt a feeling of lostness. Her heart felt weak as she grabbed some coins from the counter and pushed out the door, and into the streets.
