Flashback to the ice cream store.

Rin: “Oh, we forgot to ask Hikari which flavor she wanted.”

Meako: “I didn’t forget; she would have just told me to get the plainest flavor that they have.”

Kinko: “You should still ask.”

Meako: “Maybe you’re right; who knows, maybe she might even end up surprising me.”

Kinko: “I think I saw her go into that alley; I remember seeing a vending machine on our way here.”

Meako: “Then she must still be there, then.”

As she went out, she spotted her brother Kurai speaking to Hikari at the blue vending machine. At that same moment, she saw him kiss Hikari. She gasped.

Meako: “Kurai, what is he doing—and with Hikari?. Should I do something? No, I don’t want to take them by surprise. I’ll just keep quiet for now. I should go back before Rin and Kinko start wondering where I am.”

Kinko: “What did she say?”

Meako: “I told you the same, like always.”

Rin: “I wish she could be a little bit less predictable when it comes to things like these.”

Now fast forward to the present. We see them standing in line to go into the restaurant.

Rin says to Kinko, “Is that your boyfriend texting you?”

Kinko:, “Maybe.”

Rin repled “Don’t take too long to show him to us.”

Kinko said, “I won’t; I’m just waiting for the right time.”

Meako: “Hikari, if you were dating somebody, you would tell me, wouldn’t you?”

Hikari:“Of course I would; you would be the first to know.”

Meako: “Oh, really,” in an agitated tone.

Kinko: “That’s not fair. I should be the first to know. After all, I’m the one who introduced you to Rin and Meako.”

Rin:“Don’t be so immature; she can tell whoever she wants to first.”

Rin says to Kinko, “You should really start acting your age.”

Kinko: “What does my age have to do with this?”

Hikari chuckled, “Don’t fight. As soon as I get a boyfriend, I’ll tell all of you—and at the same time.”

Meako: “Could she really be telling the truth? Then what was that I saw earlier?”

Meako: “Something about this doesn’t seem right.”

At that moment, their turn to enter the restaurant came. They sat down and ordered the food, and Hikari sat in silence, staring out the window, not touching any of her food.

Rin:, “Hikari, are you all right? You’ve been very distant since we got here.”

Kinko: “You’re right, she didn’t even touch any of her food. Are you maybe not feeling okay, Hikari?”

Hikari:“I’m fine, just the heat. It’s nothing really.”

Rin: “Okay then. Hmm, anyways, we should be heading home now. I don’t want to be in trouble for getting home late the night before school reopens.”

Rin: “You know how my parents are.”

Rin: “And besides, Hikari and Meako look like they might need a little extra rest,” she said with a worried and confused look.

Kinko said to Rin, “I didn’t even bother to ask my parents. I just snuck out. They said they wouldn’t be back until late. They probably still think I’m at home getting ready for school tomorrow.”

Rin: “I can’t believe my parents like you so much. If they only knew what a bad influence you can be.”

Kinko gave Rin a cheeky smile.

Meako is now looking over at hikari as she is smelling focused on Rin and Kinko,
