Five planets out from the centre of the Solar System, between the fifth and sixth planets, energy gathered, coalesced, became a whirlpool of light. Filaments of power, like thread-fine petals, emerged, spiralled between the arms of the whirlpool, gliding to the edges and stabilized the energy, taking hold of it softly. The whirlpool became a twisting braid of stable power forming a ring containing a bright disk of blinding light. Five, opaque oblongs of white quartz covered in bio-tech filigree vines came out and at speed, racing towards the third planet out from the sun. It was a world of clouds, blue oceans and green plants... And it hosted a Vos Queen.
Three minutes after entering the Solar System they landed on the Vos-infected planet with barely a whisper among the trees. The canopy hardly rustled at the passing, but woke the tree, who paid attention curiously as the inhabitants of the capsules began to stir.
The vines peeled away from the pods and bent backwards to become roots, digging into the ground until they found the mycelia that interconnected all the plants and especially the trees in the forest. There was a back and fourth between the pods and the forest as the pods processed and learned until they could communicate with the trees. Once communication was established the figures inside the pods asked the forest for information as their pods analysed the environment.
There was another extended back and forth between the trees and the forest's alien guests, then the capsules were filled with the planet's atmosphere. The conversation was put on temporary hold as coughing, wheezing and desperate gasps filled the pods, instinct driving the occupants to thrashing until they collapsed, half conscious, their lungs adjusting to an alien atmosphere.
Mycelia came from the inner lining of the pods' walls, connecting to the bio suits of the occupants within. Backs arched, screams of pain as the Regenesis System in their bodies interfaced with the ecosphere through the capsules' living systems and gave them what they needed to not fall ill, nor spread disease.
As the moon shifted in it's arc across the sky the conversation resumed within a dream created by the forest through the Weave. The trees, all the while, eased the pain of the newcomers, helped to adjust their bodies to the environment and answered their questions, as the newcomers answered the forest's questions in turn.
Eventually, after a few days five females emerged, one from each capsule and wearing suits the colour of champagne that were covered in what looked like moss and small flowers. They had long, slender necks that would have been a little too long to Human eyes and held up a large heads with big eyes, leaf-shaped ears and curling hair tied up. Their bodies were narrow and slender, matched by long legs and delicate joints.
Light shimmered across the moss and flowers of their bio suits, the capsules then doing the same, reshaping into something that could be ridden astride. The vines became wheels with bark as hard as rock and the figures mounted their vehicles, the suits extending up to cover their heads and faces.
A moment later and they were racing towards the unnatural and dense cluster of lights that marked Naran Human cities. There was a Gate there that had recently been opened and the readings indicated that it led to a Vos Queen.
They intended to kill her.
