Petalsoft Born of Stars lead her fellow Nyakka to where the readings had indicated that there was semi-closed Gate. Behind her was Greenstone, Lifebreath, Waterflow and Dancinglight. Each were selected based on two criteria. The first one was how well they worked together and how well they understood what was at stake. Failure would mean the extinction of all other sentient beings on the planet and the landscape being rendered barren and uninhabitable to all other lifeforms except Vos.

The second criteria was that they had to be Born of Stars; people willed into existence by a star-like sentient species. When a Born of Stars was created they were given 'shells', or 'husks' in order to avoid harming those that they were meant to communicate with, particularly the ones that birthed them.

Their original purpose was to communicate, teach, guide and get the terrestrials off of planets that were going to be destroyed.

Then the Vos happened; emerging into the void and destroying all other sentient beings, deeming them 'Impure' because they were not 'Vos'. The very name of their species meant 'pure' in their language and they waged a sacred war against all others who were not 'Vos'.

The Nyakka had stumbled acorss them during an exploration mission, only to quickly learn what was happening in that secotor. They became the very first enemy that the Vos had encountered who could, and would, beat them back.

Unfortunately, the Vos could breed very fast and the Nyakka were lucky to have more than one, or two children in a lifetime.

Despite this, the Nyaka held their own anyway... At least until an increasing number of their males began being born without powers. As the problem progressed and got successively worse they became increasingly easy pickings for the Vos until there were almost no males left. Functionally, as a species, they were now extinct as artificial means of reproduction did not work with their genetics; they've tried.

Then the Vhal emerged from an absolute-zero field and gave the Nyakka shelter. It was during that time that the Vhal went to war with the Vos and won, forcing them into surrendering and peacefully co-existing.

The Vhal had not expected it to last.

In fact, they had prepared for what was to come creating many fail safes, including a time-manipulating princess. She created the Regenesis System, adapting it to many species at request, each System becoming unique to that species. Weather it was the Sword and Shield System of the Eiseros Manu, the War Assistance Framework of the Witch Warriors, or the Weave Interface that the Nyakka used, all were unique to the needs of that species to survive. Her greatest challenge, she had said at the time, was adapting the system specifically to the Born of Stars, Born of Light and the Born of Fire.

Being star matter in a containment shell compatible (even genetically) with the species that they were born to made it very difficult to make an interface that wouldn't be either destroyed by their star nature... Or cause havoc to their shell.

Despite that, she had finally managed to make an interface that worked, at least for the Nyakka Born of Stars. With the Weave Interface now embedded into their biology their purpose, they had decided, was to protect; the Born of Stars could not and would not abide the presence of those who were inimical to other forms of sentient life.

Thus, their self-imposed mission brought them to Earth to destroy a Vos Queen.
