Amidst lands scorched by the blazing sun and dried by a relentless hot wind, the sole refuge from demons is the secluded walled kingdom of Bashah, now long fallen into decay. Within this humble protection, life moves swiftly and frantically: the city prepares for the annual blessing of Ushur, the god of life and death.
Having just come of age, Ashtad stands ready to receive his blessing, hoping it might lift him from his burdensome social standing. Yet, he is unaware that the change awaiting him will be unlike anything he envisions: the demons are growing restless, and rumours spread of an unusual figure moving among them. This is but the prelude to something far greater; echoes rising from the distant origins of their civilisation will forever alter Ashtad’s perception of existence itself.
