With Surge feeling a bit unsure of his greater purpose, abilities, and his potential, Lilo, Stitch, Jumba, and Pleakley help by recapping the beginning of Project Salvation culminating in his creation. This story unveils new discoveries regarding this new 'Elite' series of experiments and some more recent developments involving them.
Approximately 15 years following the events of Lilo and Stitch the Series, Earth has been welcomed into the Galactic Federation with Lilo acting as an ambassador as she reaches adulthood and her and Stitch continuing to look after the experiments on Earth. However, one fateful day, a meteor crashes into the polar ice caps in the northern hemisphere, sending out a disruption of energy that at this point is speculated to be a form of dark energy, later being dubbed the Calamity. This wave warps the minds of all experiments it meets, causing them to become highly aggressive, and in some cases mutate to more powerful and more destructive forms. As a result, the Federation is forced to step in and motions to evacuate all of humanity from the Earth as Lilo and her family must flee the chaotic scene. The only ones spared from the effects of the Calamity are Stitch himself and other cousins like him that either escaped its range or were off world at the time of the impact. The Federation suggests sterilizing the planet to make it safe to return to, but they ultimately concede to Jumba’s plan to create specialized reinforcements in the form of new experiments. He is given the resources to proceed with Project Salvation, creating more powerful, combat-oriented experiments, although many did not meet the desired results. After many attempts at creating ideal reinforcements while Lilo and Stitch would mainly run reconnaissance on Earth, the Project would come to a head at No. 700.
