Love Over Kpop

Episode 6: Making a Sacrifice

Episode 6: Making a Sacrifice

Nov 17, 2025

Can a person fall for someone in one day? She sat back in the make-up chair, trying to breathe deep. It was only part of her job. A fairy tale day. One day she'd be able to tell her kids, Mommy was once in a music video. She swore she wouldn't cry. But he'd made her feel something she didn't expect. Something deep had stirred. She didn't want it to stop.

Felicia came up to her, "Well done. I think it's going to be a great video."

She took a sip of her water, giving herself time to gather her thoughts. "Glad I could help. This has been the best day ever, thank you Felicia."

"Trish, you saved the day. You did a fabulous job. I knew your acting background would come in handy. That kiss was like you were a total professional."

Trish blinked. "Yeah. That's what it was."

Felicia still had on a headset, and had her tablet in one hand, and was reading her phone with the other . "I'm going to need your extra effort again. I've got a message from In-ho asking for your assistance with him in another project."

"Really?" Trish tried to not sound as eager as she felt, but knew she had to act professional.

Felicia hesitated for a moment, then put her arm around Trish so she could talk closer into her ear. "Walk with me for a moment." They walked away from most of the staff and crew over under some trees. Felicia looked back and forth a moment and then said, "You really did a great job handling In-ho. Thank you. It's a difficult situation since his dad owns the company. We have to handle him with kit gloves because of it."

Trish nodded. "He does seem to be a bit full of himself."

"He gets his way a lot. And he needs someone that can deal with that." Felicia paused and swallowed. She looked Trish steady in the eyes. "That's why I need you to do something else for me."

Trish felt something big coming. She licked her lips. "Okay. You can rely on me to do what's needed." But she wasn't sure if she had what it takes. After all, she'd just only helped in the video. But could she keep this up? What if there was something more serious? Like something she couldn't handle? Was she a joke of a PR assistant? Or was this all normal? She was afraid to ask, but tried to look ready for anything while her head crammed with more questions. She tried to smile, to bring on the confidence she needed.

"He has a part in a K-drama that will be shot here next spring, and he wants some help exploring some of California to get to know the area. It's supposed to be along the coast, and he's unfamiliar with it. He takes all areas, especially his acting, seriously Trish. And he's really particular. In fact, you seem to be the one person that has made a connection with him so far."

Trish sat up. This looked like it was going to be more than what she bargained for, but she really wanted to keep this job. She pursed her lips and said, "What do you need me to do?"

"He wants to go on a trip up and down the coast. Get to know California from a native's perspective."

"I can do that. You think he'd like to go up Hwy One?" She hadn't even unpacked her bags yet. She could still just grab one and go.

"That's what I was thinking. I know you just moved here from up north, but it would help our production out. He's off for a few days, and normally, I wouldn't ask it." She moved closer to Trish. "But his production company is a big media affiliate that I work with. His dad owns the main company, and pretty much, what his son says seems to go. If you want to work with the company...." She left it off trailing.

Trish picked up on the importance. "I can give him a tour and even help him with acting if he needs it. I took some courses before in college. I grew up as a theater kid."

"Yes. Thank you. Then, can you be his guide up the coast?" She put her hand on Trish's shoulder. "I know this is a lot to ask, because it will take a lot of your personal time and your new to the company. But I don't want you to feel the pressure you have to do this." Felicia took a deep breath. "But you're from Nor Cal, and you might be able to show him some of the sights. And you really seem to be able to deal with him where most of us just rub him the wrong way. You seem to have some magical chemistry that calms him down."

Trish nodded. "He isn't so bad really. I just talk to him like a normal person. Maybe that's what he needs."

Felicia agreed. "In a way, but he's more than just a star. He's the boss's son. And I'm reluctant to give this much responsibility to someone so new."

"You can count on me," Trish blurted out, sensing that Felicia was teetering on giving her this new assignment. "I've done a lot so far. I'll keep up the same."

"But you've got to keep the relationship professional. It's not good to fall for a Kpop idol. Keep it as a handler and an idol." She held her wrist. "Scandals in the Kpop world can ruin an idol, Trish. They don't have their relationships or feelings in the public. It's all private. Behind closed doors. That's how you've got to keep him. Behind closed doors while he goes on this trip."

Trish felt the turmoil. She couldn't let him get to her, in any way. "Keep it professional. I'm his handler. I get him to Northern Cal, show him around, and get him back here. Got it."

"Do you? He specifically asked for you. That's why I'm reluctant." She swallowed again. "But like I said, if he doesn't get what he wants, there is always trouble.

"I get it. So, I have to agree and stay cool about it?" Trish looked at Felicia to see if this was the right answer.

She saw Felicia drop her shoulders some. "That is about it. He gets what he wants. Just make sure it's not you too."

Trish felt her heart bunch up. She had to keep her hands off him, and after that kiss, she knew that could be hard. He was getting to her. Getting into her heart. That could be bad. And now, she had to make sure nothing like that happened. Scandal. It would be a scandal to be with a Kpop idol. It seemed so strange, like a simple involvement could ruin him, but she nodded. It had to be this way. Keep him at arms length, and she would be fine. That was the problem. Could she do that?

Trish took a deep breath. "I'm a professional. I'll take him on the trip, and play total tour guide for him. It will be like sister and brother." Trish winked, saying, "You can count on me. I want this job more than anything."

"Exactly. Be his American Tour Guide." She leaned in closer to Trish. "But keep it professional. Keep the kisses on screen only. If you get my drift."

Trish nodded, not giving away that she was thinking that it might be nice to do more than just that. She hid her growing feelings and answered, "I'll be happy to show him what ever he needs to see. I'm from the Bay Area after all."

"Good. Then I can count on you." Felicia put her hand on Trish's shoulder again. "You're off to a great start with us." She leaned in closer. "I'd hate to have anything else get in the way of a career in the agency. You leave tomorrow."
