Chapter 14
I see him. Being dragged off by the NeuroSick, attempting to get away. I think about— no, want to charge in and save him. But a strategy is always better. I decided to eliminate them. One, two, three headshots and the NeuroSick falls over, each head hitting the ground. Vesper is standing there looking traumatised. I give him a look of disappointment. He looks very upset about that, crossing his arms.
“And here I thought I was the hero.”
He gives me a smirk. I sigh deeply, feeling a migraine coming already. Before gesturing for him to move with me. He then walks over to me. I hear a muttered ‘Thanks’ smiling to myself. He then keeps walking into the building. I then grab his arm, pulling him the right way; hence, he was about to walk out of the building into a bunch of NeuroSick that are trying to get into the building. I’m looking at the mess of blood on the floor. I continue walking further into the building. I see on the floor a body… mangled… mutilated… there’s blood… guts… is that- an intestine? Sick… Vesper takes one look at it before throwing up. I continue walking, listening over the sound of Vesper retching in the corner of the room for any signs of NeuroSick. I always think it’s nice my blaster is on the quiet side of weapons versus that damn pistol Vesper has… didn’t think people still had those… I then open a door silently attempting to find where the transmission was from. I hear yelling and then a scream. Vesper has composed himself, but I’m already off. He’s now walking behind me, slowly trying not to throw up. I see a little girl running over to me. I almost kicked her out of instinct. She’s covered in blood, and a NeuroSick is walking towards us… a human arm in its hand. Vesper has to cover the child’s eyes and possibly his own. He’s already picked the child up, examining her for wounds, trying not to look at the mess. He’s standing by a door, gesturing to me that he’s gonna hide in the room and watch me die. Lovely. The NeuroSick is scratching its face aggressively. I stare at the abomination before me. It charges at me, I duck, narrowly missing the swipe it takes, it runs into me toppling over me. I take the chance to get up and then create distance. Pain. Sharp pain in my back as I feel claws rip through my skin.
