"Lara, your question made Jackson act all weird last night. He's questioning his entire existence," I hissed. Lara looked confused.
"That's odd. Marco, you know I said I wouldn't tell you what I asked him," Lara responded. I nodded. "Well, I think I changed my mind. I think you would be able to help him if you knew what I asked him. I, um. I asked him if he was bisexual," She explained.
I quickly glanced up from my laptop to face her. That made no sense. He had no reason to be acting so weird over that question. Well, unless he was genuinely questioning his sexuality. Oh. Jackson was questioning his sexuality. That must be why he was acting so weird last night.
"Lara, you set off a chain reaction. He literally took me out in the middle of nowhere in the woods last night," I hissed, looking around to make sure no one could hear us.
"What? Why? Oh my god. Did you guys make out or something?" She asked. Her eyes went wide.
"What? No. He asked me to tell him what the stars and constellations were named, so I told him about the stars," I responded.
"Aw, that's so cute. Maybe he likes you. That sounds like something you would do on a date," Lara commented. I looked around again, making sure nobody could overhear us.
"That was absolutely not a date," I hissed. Lara grinned. "I'm going to find Jackson," I sighed, packing up my bag. This campus was too big to just wander aimlessly. I pulled out my phone and called Jackson.
"Hello? Why are you calling me?" Jackson asked. His voice was quiet.
"Where are you at?" I asked.
"Well, I was in the library. I am now leaving the library, because I don't want to be the annoying guy on the phone in the library," Jackson complained.
"Great, I'm right next to the library. Wait outside for me," I responded, hanging up the phone. I quickly walked over to the library. Jackson was standing outside. "Let's sit down," I said, gesturing toward a bench.
"Okay. Is this about the project? We can work on that tonight, and I have other classwork I need to do," Jackson ranted.
"Lara told me what she asked you," I responded. Jackson froze. "If you want to talk about it, you can talk to me about it. I know I'm not exactly the best person, but I am gay, so I do understand."
Jackson looked away. "I'm straight," He mumbled. We sat silently for a few seconds. "I think I might be a little curious," He added. I sat up. "About dating guys."
"Well, there's nothing wrong with that. It's okay to figure those things out and see what you like," I responded.
"But I'm straight. It was just a curiosity. It doesn't mean anything," Jackson quickly spat out. "It doesn't mean anything if I'm only curious and I don't act on my curiosities."
"That's just suppressing how you feel," I responded. Jackson stood up, grabbing his bag.
"I'm done talking about this," He spat out, turning on his heels and walking away.
What happens when Jackson and Marco are assigned partners for the final project? Jackson and Marco could not be more different. Jackson is popular, hilarious, and great at sports. Despite this, Jackson's grade is terrible. He needs to do well on this final project. Marco is sarcastic, openly gay, and he does not like Jackson, but he wants to keep his good grades. Will they be able to set aside their differences to get a perfect grade? What happens when they discover they share a favorite video game and decide to do their project on that?
