Auretta felt air once again as a giant bubble formed around her, draining all the water away.
Her gaze widened, meeting those ocean eyes again. He was holding the bubble, pushing it upwards the surface.
She felt her chest tightening as the bubble started floating from the surface towards the shore. The young man would hurt her once they reached the shore.
Auretta tried to regain composure, hoping for the best. He saved her from drowning—it shouldn't be bad if they spoke together.
The bubble popped as Auretta reached the shore safely. Shivers ran down her spine. The water was indeed cold—but not as cold as the air brushing against you when you're soaked.
She heard splashing through the water, tilting her head to see the figure of the man who just saved her, stepping onto the shore as he slipped his glasses off.
Auretta gaped, locking eye contact with him. "How'd you do that?" she asked, eyes full of intrigue and amazement as she got on her feet, squeezing the water out of her hair.
No reply was received from the young man. He simply yanked his cloak off. "A girl like you shouldn't be here in ruins like this." the man stated harshly. His cloak was quickly wrapped around Auretta's head, covering nearly her whole appearance except her eyes.
She flinched slightly, pushing the man's hands away. "I heard some noise here." The sound came from another man. Auretta turned her head, seeing the other man approach them. Was this dark haired stranger protecting her?
"I've found the Leukion. It was in an isle above us. It quickly collapsed as the stone was taken." said the dark haired stranger, taking the stone from Auretta's hand, leaving her frowning underneath the cloak. It wasn't the Revelation Stone.
A grin formed on the other man's face as he held the stone on the palm of his hands. "And who's she?" he asked, looking at Auretta. "Don't worry about her. I'll deal with her." The dark haired man replied, leaving Auretta confused.
"All right, make sure no one knows about what happened today." scowled the other man, glaring at Auretta as he slipped away.
She yanked the cloak off, turning towards the dark haired stranger. "Uhm thanks... But what do you mean it's the Leukion?"
The man simply nodded, about to slip away from the cave. "Wait!" Auretta called.
The man halted his steps, furrowing his brows as he looked back at Auretta. She took a deep breath, organizing her thoughts as she spoke. "Do you have any knowledge about the Revelation Stone?"
He tilted his head as if he's trying to read Auretta's mind. "Why would you ask for that?" Auretta glanced back at the body of water she fell into. "I'm searching for someone." she replied.
The man sighed, running his fingers through his soaked hair as he looked at Auretta again. "Not everyone who's heard of the legend knows this. The legend of the Revelation Stone is true, however it's shattered centuries ago."
It was shattered centuries ago. Auretta thought her heart might shatter as well in that moment. "If I were you, I'd report a missing person to the authorities." he stated.
No—Auretta was the missing person. She sought help from the authorities as soon as she arrived in this city. The only response she would get was that it's impossible to find her family—it's only likely they've forgotten about her or abandoned her.
She shook her head, balling her fists. "No, no. You've misunderstood-" "Keep away from ruins. That's the only advice I could give you. Good luck trying to find whoever." Those were the last things he said as he quickly slipped away.
Auretta blinked in disbelief as she stared at the man's cloak, which she was still holding.
"There's still a chance..." she mumbled, trying to lift her hopes up despite her chest aching as she slowly made her way out of the cave.
Meeting the light once again as she departed from the cave, her boots crunched onto some dried leaves. Auretta caught a glimpse of footsteps on the ground, leading all the way to the city. It could be the dark haired stranger's footsteps. Could she ask him for help?
There is no time to lose—Auretta trailed the steps on the ground. If he just saw the bigger picture, there's a chance he'd help her. Auretta felt that there's more that he knew than how'd he look—come to think of it, he looked familiar.
Auretta's eyes flashed opened, realizing she hadn't gotten his name, nor did he get her name. Her gaze then lingered back to the dark cloak which was on her hands right now, there is still hope she'd meet him again.
