The frontier we’ve affronted wants to fight back
Not me personally, I know, but soon they’re going to attack
I know. I just know it, that’s why I’m stationed here now
Us soldiers standing in a line waiting around to die
If I make it out alive, they’ll award us and expect us to bow
But in the meantime, bodies will soar and bullets will fly
Then we’ll sink to the ground which we’ll be buried beneath
Become one with what we’ve walked all over, the dirt underneath
The land does not appreciate our desecration
And yet I fight, caring little about my nation
I know. I just know it, our country will be overtaken
The Eternal Ruler in the East is rising in power
More than abilities he’s rumored to possess, if I’m not mistaken
He has lived through sunshine, moonlight, and many rainshower
Various wives, yet so far only two children accounted for
One a disappointment, the other always in search of something more
It is a wonder to me why an immortal ruler would need an heir
But perhaps there’s something there which I’m unaware
What would I know. I wouldn’t know, much nowadays outside of war
Now I’m standing as their army approaches, wearing strange hats and pointed jackets
The first shot from their side rings out and the shirt of a man to the left of me has tore
He’s bleeding out now, they have made his casket
There is no time, we charge now, and more gunfire erupts out
We duck when we can, I’m behind a tree when I hear my friend shout:
“We need to fall back now!”
It’s a losing battle, I check to see if they’ll allow
Me to run. I try to run, further into what territory remains
We are being infected by the shiny soldiers, golden that we condemn
I am too far away from my men, running back to them I refrain
Instead I head further into the forest. I wonder if after all of this I’ll look like them
Attempting to evade capture can only go on for so long
Before they get me, torture me ‘til death, or force me to follow along
