John emerged from his room and looked down both ends of the hall for a moment. John was had on a pair of black joggers, running shoes, and a hoodie. He had a utility belt wrapped around his torso. In his left hand was a pair of goggles made by Giz-tech. In his right hand was a small. He walked down the hall to find the others standing in the communing room. Once he got over to where everyone was standing. He placed the bag before them as they looked at it confused.
“If that’s the EMP bomb in there then you’re nuts. We can’t use something that big out there… it’s too dangerous.” Jazz said unapprovingly as John stood silently as he glanced over at Diane.
“It’s probably best if we did some more thinking.” Diane said sounding hesitate as John sighed unhappily. Rena walked over to the group. John hadn’t seen much of her since she came to the bunker. She constantly stayed hidden away in her room.
“Can I help?” Rena asked as the others looked at her surprised. John couldn’t allow her to go out there without any training. He shook his head as he folded his arms.
“You’re still in danger so it’s too big of a risk.” John said as Diane looked at him confused.
He shrugged as he looked away. He heard Rena take a deep breath as he noticed her step forward. She held out her hand as the air gravitated toward her. A midnight blue colored source of energy appeared in her hand. John watched as he could see concentrating extremely hard. The energy began to change shape as she created a sword. The energy maintained the shape of a sword for a brief second. It exploded causing her to fall to the ground. She sighed as she looked away unhappily as John shook his head.
“I can control it I just have to focus harder.” She muttered under her breath. Diane helped her to her feet as she patted her on the back.
“You channel energy with your mind… that’s different. Most people draw it from their bodies or energies already in the area.” Diane said as she seemed curious about Rena’s abilities. Rena sighed unhappily as she began to appear frustrated.
“I guess that means my powers are useless…” She trailed off as John rolled his eyes. He walked over to her and placed his hand on her shoulder. She looked up at up at him appearing to be surprised.
“Superhumans with energy based abilities channel their internal energy into power. Its common and they can draw in more energy from things around them. Energy made from the mind is…rare. Your energy could possibly affect someone mentally as well. That’s not useless.” John said in a serious tone. He stared at her for a moment as she nodded. She sighed sounding relieved by John’s comment.
“Guys… Shouldn’t we try to do this mission?” Celina finally spoke up as everyone glanced at her. Jazz shook his head as Diane sighed. John knew there was no use trying anymore. He decided to do things the old fashioned way. He sighed as he walked over to his bag and picked it up.
“I can do this on my own. I’ll deal with the consequences.” John said as he turned and started walking toward the stairs.
He wanted to find Dante or the woman known as Estella. If he could find her then he’d be able to find Dr. Lee. He got to the ladder and stood there silently. His hands were dripping with sweat as he grabbed the ladder. John wasn’t confident about being able to get out in time. If he got mixed up with the task force again he’d definitely be arrested. Drex-corps agents wouldn’t hesitate to kill him. John emerged from the bunker as he pushed all his worries into the back of his mind. He put his goggles on and covered his head with his hood. John took off running with the bag over his shoulder.
The night sky camouflaged him as he ran in the shadows. He only crossed the street when he needed to and went straight to the alleys. John decided to go to the Drex-corps facility that was on the far side of zone A where less people were. As John passed by a small restaurant the smell of food greeted his noise. He cursed as his stomach began to growl as he continued running. There was no time to stop for food. He was carrying something dangerous as he continued moving through the busy city. Hours would go by before he could get to the facility but he had no choice.
John continued running for what felt like hours before he found himself across the street from the Drex-corps facility. Outside something was already happening. Task force soldiers were everywhere as well as these unusual creatures. John never seen them before and there were different versions of these creatures. They seemed to be coming out of the facility. John figured using the EMP would be pointless. It would cause the task force to be defenseless against the creatures. He decided that this was his chance to infiltrate the building. John set down his bag in the alley as he looked around.
He took off running toward a set of trees. John breathed heavily as he continued running feeling his heart beat fast. He could feel his adrenaline going haywire. He had never felt this way before but he had a strange feeling about this place. He sprinted toward an opened door running passed the strange creatures. They screamed loudly as they ran around tearing people’s heads off. John began sweating as he was running as fast he could toward the door. A task force soldier stepped in front of John causing him to leap in the air. John stepped on the guard's chest and pushed off.
He propelled himself forward and hit the ground running toward the door. A man in a lab coat appeared. The man had a frightened look on his face and was covered in blood. John stepped passed him and peered inside the building. The lights appeared to be out because a backup generator was on. A dark red hue emitted from the backup lights. The lighting gave the hall an eerie vibe as John saw blood along the walls. Bodies were scattered everywhere. It reminded him of Reaper Island which gave John the same chilling feeling. He breathed heavily as he took a step forward. The sounds of screaming and gunfire could be heard somewhere in the distance. John crept down the hall silently while his hands trembled. He sighed as peered around a corner down an empty hall. What exactly would he be looking for he wondered? He saw a door cracked open to his left. He pushed opened the door to see an office.
The desk belonged to someone named J. Johnston. He stepped inside and closed the door behind him. John wondered what the person’s first name was but he had no time. He pressed a button on the side of the goggles. The computer in the goggles came on and began scanning the room. John was relieved he used to have access to Giz-tech products. He’d never admit it to Gizmo but over those four years his company’s technology kept John alive. John rummaged around in the drawers and file cabinets. He found paper work for a new club that had been built in zone B. A club for supernatural beings and other unique beings. The club was called the Typhon. John figured it could be a place of interest so he held on to the paperwork. The owner of the club was Michael Stoker.
He was the co-owner of Stoker Enterprises. Michael was now a person of interest to find Dante if the club didn’t have answers. He grunted as he continued to search and found more interesting things. John picked up a list of people who worked with Dr. Lee. He had another list that had investors who invested in Dr. Lee’s experiments. John couldn’t believe it when he saw that Gizrin Valentine invested. As John continued digging he saw articles of people pulling their investments from Dr. Lee. This happened when an unusual creature escaped from his facility. It was a year after Dr. Lee made his first successful superhumans. John realized the creature resembled the ones roaming the streets outside. It took a moment for him to piece together that the creatures might be failed superhuman test subjects.
John turned to see a file titled E.T., as he reached for the file, he heard a commotion outside. John shoved the papers he had in his utility belt. He crept over to the door as something hit the door. John fell backward as he saw a dark substance seeping through under the door. He staggered to his feet as he heard footsteps. John began to feel something strange as the door creaked open. He could hear this gust of air blow passed him. His skin began to crawl as his palms became sweaty. The red lighting outside made the figure appear more terrifying.
“You’re persistent kid. I hope you’ll be as persistent when the time comes.” The figure spoke as he stepped forward. John slowly recognized him as Bezad causing his heart to pound uncontrollably. John clenched his fist tightly as his fear turned to rage.
“I’m going to break every bone in your body!” John yelled as he lunged forward.
Bezad backed out of the doorway as John came at him. John stumbled over a body in the floor. Bezad laughed as he kicked him in the side which sent him hurdling. John crashed into a wall on the other side of the hall. He winced in pain as he stood to his feet. Bezad stood before him with a menacing glare.
“You’re going to break my bones? I’m sure you can do more than that.” Bezad said as he grabbed John by the throat. John gagged as he tried to pry Bezad’s cold hand off him. He could tell Bezad was toying with him at the moment. It continued to fuel the rage flooding John’s insides.
“You killed Shane and you’re going to pay.” John gagged out as Bezad stared up at him. He laughed hysterically as John kicked the air trying to break free.
“That blonde kid? Someone else killed him kid.” Bezad said as he threw John behind him. John hurdled into another wall crashing to the ground. A gash from hitting the wall was on John’s cheek. John staggered to his feet again as he saw Bezad walking with his sword drawn. He swayed down the hall as he continued to taunt John. It became clear to John that Bezad was stalling for some reason.
“Why are you here?” John asked as Bezad got closer to him. Bezad rubbed the back of his neck and shrugged.
“I’m looking for something, and trying to stop these stupid experiments. People get turned into those things because of your blood.” Bezad said as he walked passed John.
The sound of monstrous screams flood John’s ears. He turned around to see creatures charging down the hall at Bezad. John watched as Bezad swung his sword twice and took out six creatures. The effortless attack surprised John as he followed Bezad.
“What do you mean my blood?” John asked as he caught up to Bezad. He turned and stared at John with an annoyed look on his face.
“It was never meant to be put in humans in anyway. Dr. Lee already got lucky with one kid so I don’t know why he’d continue to use the serum.” Bezad said as he lunged at another creature as he continued down the hall. John saw the bodies of Drex-corps agents and scientist everywhere. The sight was horrifying as he followed this cold blooded killer.
“How do you know so much if you don’t work for him?” John questioned as more blood covered the walls. Bezad was getting out of hand as he cut down anything that moved. John was becoming agitated watching him slaughter people and the creatures.
“My influence expands deeply in this world. Unlike my comrades I enjoy interacting with this inferior world.” He replied.
Then he started to swing at another person running in their direction. John grabbed Bezad’s wrist to keep him from killing the scientist. He watched as she ran passed him. Bezad breathed heavily as he let go of the sword and caught it with his other hand. He stabbed John in the stomach causing him to stumble back. John fell to a knee as he looked up at Bezad with an enraged look on his face.
“What do you mean this world?” John asked as he realized his body wasn’t healing. Blood seeped through his fingers as he tried to cover the wound. Bezad sighed as he stared at John silently.
“There are more planes of existence than this one kid.” Bezad said as he turned and continued down the hall. John grunted as he felt blood trickling down his back. He coughed in pain as he stumbled down the hall. John had to figure out how to stop Bezad no matter what. He saw Bezad stop as people came through a door. Ava, Octavius and Jazlyn stood before him. John eyes widened as he started trying to move faster. Bezad moved extremely fast but Jazlyn managed to stop him. He was an inch away from cutting off Octavius’ head. She used her powers to send him hurdling back in John’s direction.
“You seem like you’re having trouble down there.” Octavius said as he walked down the hall toward Bezad. John sighed in relief as he collapsed to the ground. He watched as Octavius held his own against Bezad.
“A human actually able to keep up with me is interesting. You might be more than what you’re letting on.” Bezad said as he began to move faster but Octavius managed to evade his attacks. Octavius was fairly agile and acrobatic giving him an evasive advantage. Ava walked over to John and knelt down beside him.
“Come on I’ll get you out of here.” Ava said as John shook his head, staggering to his feet. Bezad managed to grab Octavius and threw him into the wall. John’s eyes widened in horror as Bezad raised his blade. He watched as Bezad tried to impale Octavius but Bezad’s arm wouldn’t move. Bezad looked over his shoulder to see Jazlyn standing with her hand stretched out toward him. He laughed as he stepped back and turned toward her. John stumbled around as he walked over to Bezad trying to step him. Bezad moved at unnatural speed and appeared in front of Jazlyn. Jazlyn eyes widened as Bezad began to laugh hysterically.
“You kept me from going all the way through but you won’t be in my way for now.” He said stepping back as Jazlyn stumbled to the ground. She held her stomach as blood seeped through her fingers. Octavius ran over to her and held her in his arms. He picked her up as he looked back at John and Ava.
“Get her out of here now!” John said as breathed heavily. Octavius nodded as he staggered down the hall with her in his arms. John sighed unhappily as Ava stepped beside him.
“I’ll kill her for sure, John.” Bezad said as he pointed his sword at Ava. John stepped in front of her as he continued to wonder why he wasn’t healing. His powers seemed to only awaken on their terms. He took a deep breath and stepped forward. John ran at Bezad as tried to ignore the pain from his wounds. The swung at an unnatural speed but John’s perception was fast enough to react. He managed to stop the blade with his hands. He felt blood seeping from wounds in his palms. Bezad looked at him with a surprised look on his face. John snatched the sword out of Bezad’s hand. He flipped it in the air to grab the hilt. John took a deep breath as he grabbed the handle and lunged at Bezad.
