Flashback
John stood bent over struggling to breathe as sweat dripped from his body. John’s hand gripped tightly around the handle of his bokken. His guardian stood ten feet away from him wielding a katana. It glistened in the moonlight as they stood surrounded by trees.
“When someone raises their katana at you like this…their intent is to kill you. That means you must be prepared defend your life with any means. Understand boy?” He questioned as he stared at John who was covered in scars. Cuts from the katana left John wounded and fatigue. He sighed as his guardian lunged at him with superhuman speed. John roared as swung his bokken wildly.

Bezad stumbled back as John the sword with effortless skill. His side step were forming a pattern mimicking Bezad’s evasive movements. Bezad appeared to becoming nervous as John was forcing him back. John managed to cut Bezad’s leg. He continued to pursue Bezad as they ended up heading down another hall.
“You’re not bad with a sword kid… your adoptive father taught you well.” Bezad said causing John to briefly hesitate. The hesitation allowed Bezad to counter with a powerful attack. John’s chest burned as the energy sent him hurdling back down the hall. He hit the ground and slid into Ava. She stood over him with a worried look on her face. He sighed as he sat up to see Bezad approaching with a menacing glare.
“Get out of here Ava. I can handle whatever he throws at me.” John said as he stood to his feet an aimed the sword at Bezad. He took a deep breath as he felt the sweat dripping down his face. John had no intentions of killing anyway but he had to stop Bezad. He hoped he could at least take off a limb to stop him for a while.
“You wield that sword like that then you better be ready to kill me.” Bezad yelled as he darted forward.
John didn’t know how he knew things his former guardian taught him. He didn’t care because he still planned to stop Bezad no matter what. John swung the blade wide to stop Bezad. Unfortunately, Bezad evaded the attack and went around John. He turned to see Bezad with a strange form of energy in his hand. It was this wicked purplish shade and it seemed volatile. A wall of ice appeared around Ava as he tried to hit her. The wall repelled his attack causing an explosion in the hall. Bezad went hurdling into John as they slid down the hall. John sighed with relief as he laid on the ground. Bezad laughed as he sat up and stared at Ava who stood alone down the hall. “
Enough of this shit Bezad.” John said as he grabbed Bezad.
He shoved his fingers in John’s wound causing him to wince in pain. Bezad pushed John into the wall as he stood up. He sighed as he walked over to John and picked up. John stared at him with rage in his eyes but he knew he couldn’t win. Bezad threw John through the ceiling. He landed on the second floor covered in bruises and scars. Bezad came through the opening as John began crawling away.
“When you awaken your true self maybe then you’ll be worth the fight.” Bezad said as he walked over to John. John laid on the ground as he felt pressure on his back. Bezad laughed as he continued to stomp relentlessly on John’s spine.
“This the best you got?” John choked out as blood spewed from his lips.
Bezad knelt down next to him and grabbed his head. He laughed as he slammed John’s face on the ground. The air became cold as ice particles appeared. Ava exploded through the floor wielding an ice spear. John watched as she threw it in Bezad’s direction. Bezad easily knocked it out of the air as he kicked John to the side. Ava ran over to John’s aid as she stood between him and Bezad.
“You’re pretty fast for an ice mage.” Bezad said as form of dark purple energy formed in his hand. John could see the uncontrollable form it was creating.
“I thought I told you to get out of here.” John said as he looked up at Ava. She sighed as she glanced back at him briefly.
“It’s time I cleaned up this mess.” Bezad said as the energy grew larger.
He laughed as he threw the ball of energy at the ground. It dispersed into an explosive force that sent Ava and John backward. Everything became a blinding blur. John watched as the explosion grew bigger as it expanded toward him. He couldn’t move and his body wasn’t healing. This was the end of him.
