Chapter 19 — The Rainvale Merges With The Reality

The library smelled faintly of old paper and rain-slicked streets outside. Hiten sat at a wooden table, flipping through Aarya’s sketchbook, his fingers lingering over the pencil strokes and faintly smudged lines. Dev, across from him, scrolled through his phone, eyes darting between maps, history pages, and weather patterns.

“Does Rainvale even exist in reality?” Dev asked finally, breaking the silence, his voice low and cautious.

Hiten paused, tracing a line in the sketchbook that formed a street corner. “If dreams and reality are overlapping… then there has to be a Rainvale. Somewhere. Check your phone.”

Dev typed furiously, eyes widening. “Bro… it’s real. It actually exists. Hiten, it’s right here on the map!”

Hiten leaned back, a faint, knowing smile on his lips. “I knew it. Then let’s head there.”

The two of them left the library, stepping out into a soft drizzle that had begun anew. The city streets shimmered with reflections of neon signs and puddles, every step echoing like a quiet drumbeat.

On the bus ride, Hiten stared out the window at the gray sky and wet roads. Words slipped from his lips before he realized it:

“Distance and closeness, two hearts apart,
Yet every rain drop carries a piece of your heart.”

Dev looked at him sharply, eyebrow raised. “What was that?”

Hiten laughed softly, cheeks warming.

Dev rolled his eyes with a grin. “Never mind, bro. Look, there’s the café we passed before — but Rainvale’s not far now.”

The bus rolled to a stop at the edge of town, the rain heavier here, glistening on rooftops and roads. Hiten felt a twinge in his chest — a mix of nostalgia, anticipation, and disbelief. The streets looked… familiar, yet impossibly real.

He pointed to a row of houses. “Dev… the street up ahead. It’s the same one from my dream. From my story. And if that’s true… the next street should have the house where I imagined living.”

They walked cautiously, puddles splashing under their shoes. And there it was — a modest house with a small garden, its walls faintly weathered, yet strangely vibrant in the rain. Hiten stopped, hand clutching the sketchbook. “Dream and reality… they’re merging. It’s happening.”

Dev’s eyes followed his gaze, incredulous. “You’re saying… your dreams, your story… it’s actually here?”

Hiten nodded silently, letting the rain wash over him. The sound of droplets hitting the pavement was like a heartbeat syncing with his own.

They continued walking, hearts pounding in tandem. Shops lined the street, the smell of wet soil and baked bread mixing with the faint tang of the sea nearby. And then, far ahead, under a gentle cascade of rain, Hiten froze.

A figure stood beneath an umbrella, motionless, as though the rain itself had paused to frame her.

Hiten’s voice broke the quiet. “There she is… This should be her! We finally found her!”

Dev squinted, trying to make out the silhouette. “Are you sure? What if… it’s someone else? Or — it’s just a trick of the rain?”

Hiten’s chest tightened. “No. It has to be her.”

The rain fell harder, yet everything else seemed to fade. Hiten took a deep breath, clutching the sketchbook to his chest and feeling the bracelet safe in his pocket. Each step toward her felt like walking through a memory he had lived and dreamed, all at once.

The chapter ended in silence, with only the steady rhythm of rain and the figure under the umbrella waiting — and a question lingering in the air:

Have they truly found Aarya, or is reality still blending with dreams?
