Diamond In The Rough

Chapter 05 : Solid Failure

Chapter 05 : Solid Failure

Dec 27, 2025

“One more!” Minsoo shouted, slamming his empty glass down on the bar.

The bartender sighed, long-suffering, but poured another shot of amber liquid anyway. “You’re gonna regret this tomorrow.”

Minsoo scoffed, tossing his head back as the liquor burned down his throat. “Regret’s for people who don’t know how to have fun.” He licked his lips, already feeling the pleasant buzz warming his veins. Liquid courage, just what he needed tonight.

This was his nightly ritual, a few strong drinks to get the night started, then hit the dance floor and show off his incredible body and unparalleled moves.

“Alright, Minsoo, time to work your magic,” he murmured to himself

With a dramatic flourish, the omega slid off the barstool, his fur-lined jacket slipping just enough to reveal the smooth, toned lines of his shoulders. The dance floor beckoned, a sea of bodies moving in sync with the music. Minsoo didn’t walk, he sauntered, hips swaying with deliberate exaggeration, His pants hugged his thighs tightly, leaving little to the imagination.

Eyes tracked him. Alphas, mostly. Their gazes lingered on the curve of his waist, the confident tilt of his chin. Good. Let them look. Let them want.

But Minsoo wasn’t here for them.

As he danced, his eyes scanned the room, searching for his target - a drug dealer rumours that he is close to the head mister. Minsoo's mission was to gather information about the dealer's operation, or if possible, to make an arrest.

Minsoo spun around the dance floor, his hips swaying seductively. “Hey there, gorgeous,” a gruff voice called out, and Minsoo turned to face an old alpha, who was eyeing him up and down like he was a prize on display. “Why don't you let me buy you a drink?” the alpha purred, already signaling the bartender.

He had a mission to complete, but he wasn't going to let that ruin his fun. Doesn’t look like a perfect catch but there’s no other choice. Minsoo flashed the man a dazzling smile, his eyes crinkling with amusement. “Depends. You planning to make it worth my while?”

The alpha chuckled, sliding a fresh glass toward him. “Oh, sweetheart, I can make it very worth your while.” Minsoo sauntered over, purposefully exaggerating the roll of his hips. Leaning in close to the alpha, accepting the offer with a coy nod.

The alpha leaned in, his voice taking on a flirtatious tone. “I think we could get to know each other a lot better,” he winked at the omega.

Minsoo flashed a dazzling smile, playing along. “Why not? But only if you can keep up with me!” Clinking glasses with the man. His eyes sparkled with amusement, but he knew he had to keep his cool. He couldn't let his mission get compromised.

"gorgeous,” the man slurred. Minsoo's index and middle finger walked up the men's tie before grabbing him and looking up at his eyes with seductive eyes. The alpha was practically drooling, mesmerised by Minsoo's bold confidence and unapologetic sensuality. “I can show you a great time, if you know what I mean.”

Minsoo raised an eyebrow, feigning interest. “Oh? You could show me your… bank account?” He winked, but the man didn't catch the sarcasm.

As the alpha leaned in further, whispering sweet nothings that felt more like a bad pickup line from a cheesy movie, Minsoo’s patience wore thin. “Look, I appreciate the offer, but I’m really not interested in—” minsoo stopped talking when his target was talking on the phone, he didn’t forget his mission after all.

“Come on, don’t be like that,” the man beside him said. “I could give you everything you want.” He swayed closer to the omega, using the opportunity of his distraction.

The alpha's nose drew closer to Minsoo's scent gland -since he didn’t know what’s his scent- Minsoo's demeanour changed in an instant. He jerked away, his voice rising to a shout. “Hey, back off, old man! I'm not interested!”

The alpha's face turned red with anger, and he snarled at Minsoo. “You think you're too good for me? You're just a cheap little omega, looking for a quick fuck.”

The omega recoiled, stumbling back in shock, never in his life had someone said that to him. “...Y-you have no idea who I am or what I'm capable of doing,” he spat, his voice dripping with venom.

He laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. “Throw this little brat out!” the alpha barked, summoning the club’s security. Minsoo felt a thrill rush through him. This was not how he planned to end his night.

“Huh,” Minsoo said when two burly men appeared, each one grasping Minsoo's arms and lifting him off the ground. Minsoo kicked his legs wildly, shouting, “PUT ME DOWN! PUT ME DOWN!” as they carried him towards the door. He watched his target walking to the other side of the bar. “No way! I’m not leaving, you asshole!” Minsoo kicked and squirmed, but it was no use. The more he fought, the more they tightened their grip.

They roughly tossed him out onto the sidewalk, Minsoo landed with a thud, his dignity bruised more than his body. “Don't try to go inside,” one of them warned.

“I have a mission! I can’t go back to my boss empty-handed again! He’ll skin me alive!” He shook his head wishpering to himself.

The guards look at each other, exchanging signs that this man is drunk. “You’re making a scene, man,” one of them said.

He glared up at the guards, still trying to reason with them. “You don't know who I am! I'm a detective! I have an ID, I swear!”

But as he patted his little bag, he realised he'd left his ID on the table back home. One of the guards chuckled. “Sure, buddy. You're a detective. That's why you're dressed like a stripper.”

Minsoo's face burned with embarrassment. The guards just laughed and shut the door in his face. Minsoo stood up quickly and slammed his fist against the door “OPEN THE DOOR YOU FUCKERS”, frustration boiling over. He was going to have to come up with a creative excuse for his boss tomorrow. Again. no doubt his boss will not believe him.

As he stood there, running a hand through his hair and taking deep breaths, Minsoo's eyes scanned the street, searching for any sign of his target. He had to get back to the mission, and he couldn't let a little setback like this stop him. Because this is his fourth time failing a mission!

Dusting himself off, Minsoo muttered, shaking his head in frustration. “Guess I’ll just have to be more charming next time. And maybe wear a little less… sparkle.” With a dramatic sigh, he turned on his heel walking to his car.

“FUCK MY LIFE.”

“By day, I hunt the city’s deadliest ghost. By night, I crawl into his bed, spreading my legs wider for the very man I’m supposed to arrest. Yes... all he makes me want to do is submit to him.”

Lee Jisung is the precinct’s golden boy—a sharp, relentless detective obsessed with catching the 'Blood Diamond,' a criminal mastermind who leaves nothing behind but cold stones and blood. To earn his father’s frozen pride, Jisung has sworn to put the "ghost" behind bars.

But his sanctuary is a seductive trap.

His lover, Hyunsuk, is a gentle florist who smells of lilies. He is the man who brews Jisung’s tea, heals his exhaustion, and whispers that the world is too cruel for a delicate Omega.

The Truth is a Poison He Drinks Every Night.

The tea isn't for comfort it’s a cocktail of submission. While Jisung sleeps, drugged and pliant, Hyunsuk is scrubbing blood off his hands and planning his next heist. By the time the sun rises, the "Blood Diamond" is back in bed, claiming Jisung’s body until the detective forgets his name, his badge, and his mission.

As Hyunsuk begins a psychological game to dismantle Jisung’s life (framing his only friend and stripping away his instincts) Jisung is left spiraling. Is he a hunter, or is he just a predator’s favorite, broken toy?

In this game of shadows, the handcuffs are on the nightstand, and the detective is the one begging for the leash.
