Chimin, Tida and I were in Chimin's living room, Christmas Eve, Mariah Carey playing in the background of our conversations. The sound of wrapper being torn from boxes filling the room, followed by claps and excited squeals from Chimin as she opened my present.
“Thank you so much Pipa!” Chimin hugs me so tight I can barely breathe.
“Too tight Chimin,” I tap her on the back two times as a signal for her to pull away and she does, realising her excitement took over. “And I’m glad you liked my gift, I knew the newest merch would make you happy.”
We both smile and Tida offers a piece of her home-made macarons, and I take it. Her macarons are the best, in my opinion. Sorry mum, but she takes first place. Tida made all kinds of sweets for Christmas.
I go to the christmas tree and find a gift with my name on it.
“To: Pridja, From: Tida,” I read out loud. Tida smiles at me as I sit down on the couch to open it. “This one’s pretty heavy, huh?”
Chimin looks at me excitedly, waiting for me to open it. I slowly pull apart the wrapper. Slowly but surely revealing a box set of a manga series I've been wanting for some time.
“Oh my god! Thank you Tida!” I hug her, and squeal, overjoyed.
“No problem Pridja,” She smirks. “I know you’ve been keeping an eye out for this series for a long time so I thought why not give it to you on Christmas.”
I put the box series down next to the couch and signal for Tida to go and find one of her gifts. She goes down and climbs around the tree to find a gift with her name on. She finds mine.
We all decide to move our sitting place to the ground in front of the tree, so we don’t have to move too much when getting the presents. I lean up against the couch and look at Tida as she opens my gift.
Her eyes light up at the sight of her present.
“Oh, you didn’t have to Pridja,” she says, but her smile betrays her words. “This is a really expensive gift”
“It’s okay, plus it’s Christmas!” I smile. “We all deserve what we want for Christmas,”
She takes out the perfume from the box and sprays it in the air.
The night ends after dinner and opening the rest of the presents. We all say our goodbyes and I head to bed.
This has been one of the best Christmas' in a while.
