Flashback
My hands were numb as I stared at the sky falling further away from everything. The air pushing me downward made me feel as if I weighed a ton. Why didn't I save her when I had the chance? I could hear their voices even as I fell.

I could feel the pain growing inside. I could feel the...darkness. Something has changed inside of me...maybe even broke or shattered. Why am I still falling? Will my fall ever end.....is this what it means to.... die?
Present

My eyes slowly began to open but everything was blurry. I realized I was laying down so I slowly sat up. I saw a blurred figure sitting across from me. I rubbed eyes ferociously until I finally could see clearly.

The man had tan skin and long dark brown hair. He was wearing a gray shirt, pants and gray slippers. On his wrist were some form of highly technological hand cuffs that were glowing brightly.

I looked down to see that I was wearing the same exact attire. I touched my face realizing my mask was gone. I looked around the room searching for my suit. I realized we were inside some form of confinement. The man sat and watched me for a long time as I scratched my head wondering what was going on.

"Dr. Lee took us to one of his testing sites. You've been out for an entire day." The man said quietly in a deep voice.

He didn't seem to be that much older than me. I sighed angrily as I moved to the door wondering if someone was out there.

"How the hell do we get out of here?" I asked.

The man shrugged casually as I walked over to the mat across from him.
"The only reason I followed you in there was for personal reasons as well. Dr. Lee has my brother Styles and I plan to get him out of here."

I nodded as I looked around trying to come up with a plan. I was never the type to come up with plans. That's probably how I always tend to find myself into situations such as this one.

"Dr. Lee doesn't keep more than a dozen people in his facilities. The place is big but the amount of captives is small." He continued.

I nodded just as I began to pace back and forth about the room. I had to find a way out of here soon. I started searching all around the room for something to use as a weapon but there was absolutely nothing. After a while the door to our room opened. The two of us stood to our feet as a group of Drex-corps guards entered the room. They had the guns aimed at us and I prepared to fight but Jack warned me to not do anything drastic.

"It's lunch time...lets go." The man ordered.

He stepped aside so we could step past him. I grunted as I stepped out into a giant hall. I looked around to see other people exiting there cells. Jack stood beside me looking around until a guard pushed him. As we walked down the hall I saw a teenage boy running toward us. The guards were running after him preparing to shoot.

Before I could react Jack was sprinting toward the boy a guard beside me aimed his gun at Jack's back. I barreled my shoulder into his side knocking him down. I stomped on his head as another guard tried to grab me but I used my foot to push off his chest, He stumbled backward as more guards came toward me.
I had to fight them off and get free as I realized I had been foolish.

I'd never be in this predicament if I had left town like I planned to. I only stayed because I felt a strange need to stay. Then when Sean mentioned Dr. Lee I felt something strange as if I knew him. I remembered his name was said the day that changed my life. The day Gizmo's mother died but I felt as if I could recall his name further in my past.

Had the man who raised me mentioned him? Maybe I heard his name on TV. It's clear the reason I'm here is for some answers and I plan to get them. I struck another guard over the head and kicked one to my left to the ground. I didn't plan on being put back in that cell. I had to get out of this place and find Dr. Lee, once I get my answers then I'll turn him in.

Hopefully, a reward will be given to his captor. A selfish ideal is what my thoughts sound like and I should be ashamed because I could be better than this.

"Styles!"

I heard Jack yell causing me to emerge from my thoughts as a gun was fired. I heard a loud cry causing me to turn. I watched Jack collapse to the ground. I was tackled to the ground as I stared at Jack as he held his leg in pain. I realized the bracelets somehow took away powers.

The guards brutally pummeled me with batons as they held me down. Everything happened so fast. Now stuck in a situation that I know will change everything. I watched as the boy named Styles knelt down beside his brother. I yelled out angrily when I watched as a guard hit the boy over the head. He collapsed beside his brother as the guards began to kick and beat Jack.

They lifted me up as I struggled to break free but I couldn't. They dragged me down the hall as they did the same with Jack. Other captives appeared and watched as we were dragged away. Dr. Lee came through a door causing all of the superhumans to run to their cells.

"I knew you two would be trouble." Dr. Lee stopped when he saw my face.

His mouth dropped open as his hand began to tremble. A man who looked to be a few years older than me appeared behind Dr. Lee. The man had extremely pale skin, his hair was white and his eyes were yellow.

"How can you doing something so....inhumane?" Jack grunted through gritted teeth.

It was clear he was in pain and the guards were going to help him. Dr. Lee ignored him as he continued to stare at me.

"I hadn't been sure of it at first but looking at you now, I'm certain. This is marvelous I have finally found you again." Dr. Lee smiled.

The guards pulled me to my feet. He knows me but how? The flashbacks of the men with lab coats....he must have been one of them.

"You know who I am?"

"I do!"

"How can you do something like this?" I asked causing him to look around the facility.

"This is being done to save us from a time of darkness. Years ago there was a night that not many talk about. The Darkest Night and during this night a powerful force caused every source of light to go out in the entire state. The sky darker than ever and the waters nearly black itself. The atmosphere colder and fear flew in the wind. Many lives were lost that night but like I said people refuse to talk about it. I researched years and discovered that it could possibly be due to an ancient power. I wanted to protect my family and the world. That event took place twenty years ago. Once I had created a good quantity of successful superhumans I knew I needed to make more. " Dr. Lee exclaimed.

He examined himself and glanced back at the man with yellow eyes. I shook my head in disgust as I tried to break free from the guards.

"I don't know what twisted fantasy you are living but because of you many people get arrested just for looking as if they have powers. All you did was give the government and the world something else to discriminate." I retorted.

Dr. Lee laughed but suddenly became angry. He came closer to me and spoke in a more stern tone.

"Believe what you want but my cause is going to make a difference. Send Mr. Haven back to his living space and bring John to the testing room." Dr. Lee said as he turned and walked away.

The man with yellows eyes waited for me to pass him when I noticed his face changed to look like Dr. Lee. The man's eyes become more menacing as his face went back to normal. He chuckled as I stared at him in disbelief. He could shapeshift or something similar to that ability.

I was pulled into a room filled with technology, containment units and other things. The guards threw me into a chair and strapped me in. I struggled frantically to break free but it was no use.

"Here you go boss."

One of the guards said as he smacked me on the head and walked away. I felt my finger twitch as I became more agitated. I continued to struggle in hopes of getting free but it was no use.

"First things first... I need to see if you still can do it." Dr. Lee said as he shoved a large blade into my chest.

I gasped in pain as the cold hard steel slid out of me. I could feel the blood oozing its way out for what seemed to be a lifetime. My skin finally began to burn which meant I was healing.

"What are you talking about?" I asked grunting in pain as Dr. Lee walked away.

He stopped at a table and began sifting different tools. He was planning to dissect me or something in that area. I didn't want to be a lab rat either.

"I need more of your blood, John. Two out of three of my subjects were successful. If I make the proper serum I can create a new breed of beings. You are more than a superhuman John. Hell, you aren't even human because your DNA is similar to...the thing I want to stop." I looked at him more confused than I had ever been in my entire life. This man was delusional, maybe even insane.

"What the hell do you mean?" I asked as I tried getting my arm free.

Dr. Lee came over with extremely long needle and stuck it in the vein on my arm. He pulled away the needle and I saw it was filled with my blood. It was incredibly darker than normal blood. He began taking more DNA as I continued to try and free myself from my restraints.

"I captured a man that can cause strife in the minds of monsters and I have been using that power to control the creatures. His DNA has similar origins as yours...partially. I'm only doing so to test his ability and then I plan to reverse the effects so I can control something."

I shook my head with more disgust wondering how he could live with himself. Over two hundred superhuman lives have been lost since his experiment. The people born as superhumans have died off from what I was told as a child.

"My blood did this to these people? What exactly are you trying to control?" I asked as I watched Dr. Lee continue to study my blood. He shook his head as he opened a book and wrote something down.

"No... at the time I didn't know how to stabilize your DNA. I found a young girl a couple months after your family disappeared. She was born a superhuman which was amazing. I had thought they were just a myth but everything we were taught about this world is wrong. She'd still be with me if her mother hadn't found a way in my facility. Anyway, I want to destroy the Decagon and liberate the other superhumans and every other being that is arrested for being different." I stared at Dr. Lee for a long time.

His motives weren't completely bad but his actions were what made him a criminal. He was going to end up hurting people instead of trying another way. I didn't know much about him but I could tell this was an obsession. Making superhumans the superior race would always be his hidden agenda.

No matter what he said about freeing them I could tell he still planned to try and be their ruler. As I watched him continue with his studies the door opened and a woman with pale skin and short black hair appeared. I noticed she was wearing the bracelets as well and she wore similar clothes. She slowly approached Dr. Lee who was staring at her strangely.

"I want to see Karen and my friends." The woman said in an accent. Dr. Lee sighed as he shook his head causing her to stare at him angrily.

"I'm in the midst of something Kira, it can wait a little longer." Dr. Lee said as he approached me once again. He had four blades in his hand.

"Enough with the knives!" I yelled angrily as he examined me debating on where he should stab me first.

"The regenerative healing is the only ability these bracelets allow to be active. Although I do want to know why yours produces a mist." He muttered.

He shoved one knife after another into my body. I grunted in pain as he removed them and inserted them back in six more times.
He finally stepped back and watched as my wounds began to heal. He ran toward his table and grabbed something that sucked the mist into it.

He sat it down on the table and stared at it for a long time. After a while the mist turned black and then disappeared. I was shocked and unable to understand what I had just saw. What did it turn into and why was it black? I wondered as Dr. Lee smiled proudly.

"What am I?" I asked he sat down in a chair his gold skin glistened radiantly.

His eyes were a bright yellowish color. What was his true power and how powerful was he?

"The being I had told you about.... Whatever he is you are the same but your blood is not exact. You are something more. Now I have given you some answers.... You are welcome." He said prideful as he sat behind a computer and began typing.

"What are you doing with me? I said aggressively causing Dr. Lee to slowly look up. He sighed deeply as he stood to his feet.

"I want to show you my next experiment... project X. I plan to do something with your blood that will create a new breed of superhumans."

My eyes widened as I began to imagine what my DNA could do to them. If my DNA was unstable before and if he didn't take proper precautions something terrible could happen to them. I couldn't live with that at all. I had to stop him somehow but how, I was unsure.

"You can't keep doing this Dr. Lee. It is wrong and you know it. This is immoral, their lives should not be determined by you."

Dr. Lee chuckled as he made a strange sigh as the guards barged in. Kira walked over to the door and waited for them to unstrap me and restrained me once more. They dragged me down another hallway where I saw other people in lab coats. Kira walked alongside me causing me to glance at her.

"Dr. Lee just wants to spark the beginning of a war." She muttered as we turned down a hall.

Dr. Lee had gone mad if he wanted to start the beginning of a war. How did he expect to save the world by sparking its possible demise? His motives were nothing more than contradictions.

There was no true goal besides causing the start of the dark ages. He wasn't stopping it but instead fueling it. I couldn't let that happen not without a fight. I used my shoulder to shove the guard holding my right arm.

I then front kicked the one on my other side and sprinted down the hall. The guards came rushing toward me but I ducked and dodged their attacks as I threw my body into them. I had to get to Dr. Lee and take him down before he ruined more lives. I ran as fast as I could down the hall doing my best to fight through the guards even though I had the cuffs on my wrist.

Dr. Lee stepped out of a doorway and stared at me angrily. He pointed his finger and a beam of light blinded me. The energy it produced sent me hurdling back down the hall toward Kira. I hit my head on a table and then my smacked the ground. I lost consciousness within seconds.
