Misfits of Class Z

Chapter 2.1 — Miss Show off: The Avatar of the Sun

Chapter 2.1 — Miss Show off: The Avatar of the Sun

Jan 02, 2026

The infirmary was close, not that it mattered considering Asher could teleport seamlessly. So quickly the three trouble makers and Dante came to the white room. It was large, naturally situated close to the main gate that led to Class Z. By far they were the ones that kept hurting each other most and thus needed healing way more than any other class in the Institute.

Naturally, they grew very close with the Nurse Jonah. A hauntingly large woman, even taller than Abela, with dark brown skin and hair that glowed with magic. She was ecstatic to see them, or simply kept up that appearance infront of them.

"What is it now lovelies! I cant stand seeing you all hurt like this."

They exchange quick greetings and Asher sets Dolly down on one of the beds near, the room was large and rows upon rows of beds could be seen set up.

"Now tell me whats up with our friend here !"

The nurse's intricate tattoo's start swirling and glowing on her skin.

"Explain in as great detail you can muster, please."

She looks at Asher in expectation, instead of Dante or Abela. One of them seemed indifferent, and Dante was too anxious about Dolly's condition.

" Over exertion of meta-ability... or something akin to that."

Abela intervenes with that cold tone.

"Got her brain fried."

The nurses hand sweeps across Dolly's body, hovering just above her skin. She looked pale and sickly as if some great thing and sucked the life out of her.

"Blood loss perhaps ?"

"She didn't lose that much blood, unless she was already anemic which I didn't see."

The words "didn't see" had so much meaning when it came from the Oracle. He could render some possibilities close to impossible so easily... The chatty Nurse continued.

"Alright I see, I see..."

She puts her hand on Dorothy's stomach. The tattles on the back of her hand start struggling against something... Abela, having seen somewhat of a similar thing before, gets bored and heads for the door.

"Contact me when she's back on her feet."

"U-uhm we are in the same class as her..."

Not listening to Dante she almost steps out the Infermary, only to hear Jonah snap. Somehow the door shut so powerfully even she wouldn't be open it if she tried.

"Youre injured too Missy. Sit."

"My toes are damn fine."

"Your "toes" give you balance and I'd rather not have an infection."

The swordsaint scoffs and sits.

"Thank you, what would your uncle say, he'd scold you all day, You dont want that now do you? Let alone me gods he'd be on me for not healing you."

Her tattoos begin to glow.

"Here we go."

She begins to lift her arm slowly.

A black visvious liquid begins rise from Dorothy's stomach, the pores of her skin open up as Jonah raises her arm.

"Huh-"

She raises her hand further to hold out a black sphere that forms out of the floating liquid.

"I-is that supposed to- happen ?"

Dante asks looking up at the giantess Nurse.

"No..."

"I didn't see that either..."

Asher takes a step back from the liquid, he knew it too well. Darkness, Void... Nothing.

"It's supposed to be the color of her blood, Odd that she bleeds red..."

The tattoos on her arm and hand glow again as she spins the sphere and starts glowing this, onyx orb.

"I'd have expected blue hell even purple because of bruising but no black is...well Im not even sure what it is..."

She pushes the orb back, her body accepts it all as if it had been thirsty and then...

She jolts up, panting, looking around and disoriented.

"Where am I ?!"

She only lost consciousness 3 times in the span of less than 24 hours... Still Asher hoped everything would be fine.

"Your in my office sweetheart! Im Nurse Jonah and I just healed you and took away all your pain."

"....Huh-"

She pats her head and gives her a lolipop.

"Here. Now you"

She walks over to Abela. Dante looks at the Nurse and then back at Dorothy...

"…was she so used to pain that it going away jolted her ?"

Asher looked down, it was not... impossible albeit one of the worse futures...

Nurse Jonah repeats the process, the orb that comes out of Abela is pale blue. She too is given a lolipop and then they are all sent their merry way to class ! Or so Dante thought.

"You all go, Im not coming."

Asher couldn't give a damn about class...

"Im going to go back to training."

And Abela had better things to do. Dante stared at them dumbfoundedly for a bit. Jonah came up behind them like a giant statue and bonks them both with a magazine.

"All of you to class, I dont care if you hate your uncle and I dont care your puberty kicked in, dont leave Dante all alone like that, Can't leave Dolly in his hands, no offence Dante."

Though, Dorothy had a personal... quest.

"No no- Im fine without them. They're obviously leaving for their own reasons."

She winks at Jonah and... for some god forsaken reason that works.

"Oh? ooooh Neeeveer minddd ! You're all free to go !"

Asher couldn't believe that Jonah really thought, a newbie was trying to get herself alone with Dante, and flirt. Had the woman no common sense ? Did her respect for young-love exceed any responsibility she felt over them ?

Asher hesitates staring at Dolly and Jonah. Well being free to go was... being free to go... othervise he would most definitely lose to the Giantess and be forced to class.

"Th-thanks."

And he promptly vanishes.

Abela turns at Dolly.

"Hey, remind me that I owe you one."

She then walks off... which means... the Librarian boy and the Newbie are left alone. Dorothy hops up, from her seat. She was the author after all ! Right ?! She was going to develop Dante's character ! He had so much potential no ?

She hops off of the seat and walks near Dante, who was completely oblivious to her plans.

"Alright then Dante, Class time ! You know the way dont'cha! Let's go !"

She pats him on the back. He sighs in response, the other two had run off anyway...

"Let's go Miss Dolly."

And so, he walked off. Waving bye to the nurse and started going down the opposite direction Abela went in the hall.

"Cut it with the miss, I'm not above you call me Dolly please."

"Im a servant of the library, anyone who might use it is my customer. I treat everyone accordingly."

So that was how he rationalized speaking so inferiorly to himself. Well Dorothy couldn't just attack his inferiority directly... She changed the subject.

"Speaking of, what do you like reading?"

"I like ... reading."

The librarian boy got in the elevator and Dorothy followed, there was an insanely awkward pause between them as the elevator door shut and some meaningless elevator music started to play.

"It doesnt go further than that I think…"

Though, Dorothy grinned anyway.

"We're gonna be good friends !"

Dante earnestly smiled, itching his head.

"It gets lonely in the library. I suppose I deserve it, being so weak and all..."

"Well then if your so incapable of running the library I'll be your assistant !"

"Im actually the assistant… haha... Mistress Lily is really busy so It’s usually me who takes care of the library."

The elevator comes to a stop. Dante summons papers from his simple robe, that float up to Dorothy's eyes. As the metal doors slide, a golden light shines so brightly that it almost burns through the papers and penetrates Dorothy's eyes. As both of their eyes adjust to the large hall they find themselves in Dorothy's jaw drops again, they seem to be in a church of sorts. The ceiling is very high, about 3 stories tall which wasn't all that impressive considering the library. Though, the colors and light were astonishing. Golden colored glass panes, stood in parallel high up on the walls. The walls themselves had been carved beautifully with marks and runes and at middle of it all stood a figure slightly taller than Dorothy.

The person wore a similar robe to Dante albeit it was way more flashy then his. While the Librarian boy had a black robe and a light grey cape with a hood around his neck; this figure was breath taking... The drooping orange and gold robes were sat behind them as they sat, a tall umbrella closed in their hand.

Their gender was mostly indiscernible, their Kimono-esque clothing was drooping over their shoulders which hinted at some femininity but their rather short hair betrayed that idea...

Maybe none of it mattered, considering they just might come from a world with no concept of gender... Though, the real mystery was their face. It was hidden behind a cloth that sat on their head falling down like a curtain that covered all of their face. It had a large rune drawn on, naturally Dorothy had no idea what it said. This entire thing felt weird... there was a fuzzy feeling emanating from Dorothea core. This person was not like any she had met before.

Dante, exits the elevator and then bows.

Dorothy reads the room and bows as well.

"Hello, oh wise book keeper. It is an honor."

The figure turns at the young girl that called them a book keeper.

"Book keeper ? Haha, no. I just take care of the bright kids."

"I am still honored."

Dorothy bowed again as the figure, floated up from their seat. The robes floating behind them. It felt like the suns warmth was on her skin, no penetrating her skin and warming her soul. Now that she had a closer look, she realized all of the light in the room was somehow being emanated from this being that stood infront of her. As if a blinding source of light...

"What is your name young lady ?"

"Dorothy, but, Dollys fine..."

She awkwardly salutes.

"No last name ?"

"I'll be honest Dolly is the only name I remember, she told me my last name was actually....."

She stops staring blankly out there.

"I...I dont remember"

The being pets her red hair.

"Same here. Its allright now, welcome to your new home."

"It's been nice here I will say..."

She only fainted 3 times and fought a swordsaint. Nice. She continued.

"Say, what do you like to read ?"

Dante tries to intervene...

"I- uh."

The all encompassing and comforting voice of the figure speaks.

"Its okay Dante."

They turn at Dorothy.

"I am blind. Even after all these years Im not sure wether if it was an accident or did I mean to… Well it hardly matters now, lets go to class."

As they walk behind him, Dolly senses this person with every step a great giants flame burned inside them. Something all encompassing, and nigh all powerful.

This being is a pillar others lean on.

"Im... sorry. May I ask one more question then? More of a suggestion really."

"Hm ?"

"Feel free to tell me if Im overstepping but...what if I read books to you, I think its a crime you don't get a chance to yourself, no offence ofcourse."

The avatar stops walking and, laughs.

"HAA HAHAHA"

The room hall bends away, a warm but strong wind generates- They calm down after moment and start petting Dolly harshly.

"We can try that when Im not so busy."

"! ...did I overstep? Im sorry..."

"Youre fine, Im surprised someone so young isn't scared of me thats all."

"Why would I be scared of you, anyone who cares about their work and help do right, I respect."

She grins with that dumb optimism, that naivety. They pass by classroom doors and then finally stop at the one that has literal chains on it. That... wasn't ominous and totally normal... The avatar turns at Dorothy.

"You sound relatively normal, Im sorry you are strong enough to fall into this hell hole of a class—"

Though Dorothy is too focused on the actual, runic chains on the door to think of an answer to that...

"Why... is it in chains ?"

"I had to create a sub-space to contain you few."

They put their hand on the chains as Dante continues for them.

"After Ash, Abel and two others picked up a fight that destroyed half the campus…"

"I- see..."

"Word of that definitely got up to the higher ups haha."

Then they suddenly add:

"Don't get scared."

The chains start to heat up and then start to spark. Dorothy takes a step back to be behind this figure who, keeps chatting with Dante and her...

"You kind of get use to the chaos…"

"Or just hide away like me."

"Youre still pretty brave, coming to class everyday."

"Thank you sir."

The chains open and start floating with the sparks. Dorothy thinks as they talk, so much new information, so many new people...

"Wait if this class is only for the strong..."

She pokes Dante in the head.

"You're strong too haha!"

"Im the bottom of the class—"

The avatar, apparently male.. adds before pulling the last of the chains up to reveal the door.

"Still out of the hundreds of thousands of students, you all are a select."

Dorothy mumbles along as she walks forward, the Avatar opens the door for her.

"Don't I just feel special..."

Suddenly theyre in a mostly flat, lush, green place.

Dorothy gasps.

"Subliminal space !"

It would be really peaceful, like the half naked guy sleeping on the ground if it wasn't for a literal building sized werewolf and a dragon fighting near the class without walls. A few other students were in the class, which was simply made of a stone floor and a bunch of seats and tables. The grass was filled with creaters, scars and destruction left from old battles.

The two titans clash again and again loudly, somehow the half naked guy close to gate keeps laying on the grass.

Then the class rep curses under his breath.
