Tale of A Rogue King

Tale #3: STATS WINDOW

Tale #3: STATS WINDOW

Jan 07, 2026

I reached out my tiny finger to touch the floating blue light. As expected, my hand passed straight through it like mist. 'hey, at least i tried....but how did it activate ?'

In this world —the world of Mage Academy Saga —the Stats Window wasn't some exclusive "Player" privilege. It was a universal law. Every intelligent being possessed one But the catch is that they can not access it before a certain age.

For example, Humans activate it at the young age of ten. That's why in human society the tenth birthday is considered to be special milestone.

[[LEVEL: 10
NAME: TYLER VON REGULUS
RACE: HUMAN
IDENTITY: HUMAN NATION THIRD PRINCE]]

I stared at the glowing text, It is said that Stats Windows or rather lets call it System for efficiency's sake, is directly linked to the soul. it personifies the essence of soul itself. So, i have a hunch why it got activated. i keep staring at the texts on the screen.

"Maybe my memory awakening somehow effected my soul and as a side effect the system mistook me as an adult, instead of a six years old kid" Thats a possible situation, right ?

That still doesn't explain why i can not see any traces of my past my life in the screen, No 'Otherworlder' title? No 'Transmigrator' buff?'

Then, another thing caught my eyes "....and why is level so high ?"

Technically, at Tyler's current state, I should be level one. To find the reason of this abnormality, i tried to check what are my abilities and...

'What the fuck is this ?' I blinked rapidly, then deactivated the window entirely. I stood there for a second, took a deep breath, and summoned it back. I even rubbed my eyes until I saw stars, praying I was just hallucinating from a lack of sleep.

The screen remained unchanged.

'Seriously ? Is this even allowed?'

[[TITLE:
TRAIT: [GENIUS OF MAGIC (PARTIAL LOCKED)] [GENIUS OF MARTIAL ARTS (PARTIAL LOCKED)] [HYPER BRAIN] [OBSERVATION]
SKILLS: [EYE OF INSPECTION] [PIANO (BEGINNER)] [SWORDSMANSHIP (BEGINNER)] [HAND-TO-HAND COMBAT (BEGINNER)] [READ AND WRITE] ]]

I stared at the list, my heart hammering against my ribs. In this world’s logic, Traits were like passive skills —innate qualities of the soul —while Skills were active powers that could be honed.

"Not just a genius of magic... but martial arts too?" I whispered, a cold chill of excitement running down my spine. "That’s not just talent. That’s a cheat code."

And then there was [Eye of Inspection]. While it lacked the flashy destructive power of magic or martial arts, it was a legendary utility skill. In the game’s lore, anyone possessing this skill could make a fortune as a high-tier appraiser.

More importantly, every one of these traits had the potential to evolve. Though the odds were astronomically low, the mere existence of a growth path meant my ceiling was higher than almost anyone in the kingdom.

'So, this is why my level is High'.

Since, Here level does not work like normal video games. No, this should not even be considered as Level.

"I can't believe I have two 'Genius' series traits," I muttered, pacing through the small space of my room. "But... it doesn't add up."

The game’s version of Tyler was an above-average mage with a weak constitution and the stamina of a kid with malnutrition. He was the quintessential glass cannon. He notoriously detested physical labor and looked down on knights as "brutes."

Wait... could that be it? A realization hit me. Did he hate training so much that he never even picked up a wooden sword? Did he simply never had the chance to realize he was a martial arts prodigy because he was too busy being a snob? It was a hilarious thought, but it didn't fully explain his eventual downfall.

In Mage Academy Saga, anyone with even a single 'Genius' trait was destined to become a powerhouse. So why did the original Tyler end up as a minor, forgettable villain?

There was only one way to uncover this.
"[Eye of Inspection]" i used the skill on my [Genius of Magic] trait

The blue screen flickered, and a detailed sub-window expanded:

[[ [GENIUS OF MAGIC (PARTIALLY LOCKED)]:
Description: Grants the user extreme talent and affinity for all magic types. Status: Partially Locked.
P.S: To unlock the full potential, the user must reach a specific proficiency level within a set timeframe. Failing to do so will result in 'Consequences.' ]]

consequences huh... i have an idea of what that might be.

Trait deletion.

The System in this world was brutally realistic. It didn't grant power; it simply reflected it. It was a mirror of the soul. For example, I have the [Piano] skill right now. But if I refuse to touch a piano keyboard for the next five years and forget every chord and basics, the System won't keep the skill there as a souvenir —it will delete it.

The skill doesn't exist because the System says so; the System says so because the skill exists.  But Genius Traits are special, they are innate traits, a person is born with.

I didn't know they can also be deleted if the user fails prove himself worthy. that's new info.

That explains why Tyler lost his talent, The time period might be until ten years old, when the system activates. even if system is deactivated, the skills will still be there. Tyler got arrogant after getting praised and became lazy and faced the Trait consequences.

okay, enough about Tyler. From my knowledge of the game, the [Genius of Magic] trait was a beast. It didn't just boost power; it provided a base affinity for all eleven magic types, However, the degree of that affinity was a sliding scale.

The trait gave me the "keys" to every door, but it was up to me and my luck or constitution to actually walk through them and master the rooms.

As for [Genius of Martial Arts], it acted as a universal translator for physical combat. It allowed the user to memorize and perfect any technique —whether it was hand-to-hand combat or complex weapon arts —at ten times the normal speed. As long as my body physically knows how to properly use the weapon, the trait would do the rest.

"No more wasting time," I muttered.

Now, next step of the plan. I quickly put on the clothes and pulled on my boots and marched toward the door. I threw it open to find Mary standing exactly where I had left her, her back straight and her expression a mix of worry and adoration.

"Your Highness!" she gasped, quickly dropping into a deep, graceful bow. "You... you actually did it. You dressed yourself!".

"hmm... Follow me" I commanded, my voice cold and focused.

"uh.. ok, But where are we going ?"

where ? of course, To confirm my suspicion, i will need info And where is the best source of knowledge and info ?

"To the Royal Library"

Truck-kun isekaied me ? Good
I am the third prince and the villainous mob in my RPG game ? Good
my mother is a baronet and possess a countryside land where I can lead a slow life ? Very good

So, I should just quietly cultivate some magic cabbages and live a quite slow life like typical transmigrated MCs.... Like hell I would do that!!!

Since I have been given a second chance and that too, As a fucking prince, Shouldn't I become the king ...or at least die trying ?
