8 PM at the shop.
“I need your help!”
You could feel the desperation in his voice. After all their time working together, Haruto never asked for help. Gin finally understood the weight of Haruto's situation.
“So, what happened? What do you want me to do?” he said seriously and with concern written on his face.
He sighed before speaking and looked at Gin, "You see... our last mission failed, right?"
Gin immediately knew what Haruto was referring to and looked outside.
“Yeah…” he said and frowned.
“I was caught off guard that night. I didn't know Mr. Bagrovskiy's men were there, so they saw me and shot me, so I hid first to come up with some plan, but things didn't work out…”
Gin looked at him. I see... That's why he never contacted me that night until now... So when I tried to track his location, his tracker was off, and he was already plotting something. He said in his mind.
“I knew something was off that night. It was like they knew we were there…”
“Yeah, we need to find out if there's a traitor on our team…or one of the government officials…” he said with unease in his voice.
Haruto looked at him, and he thought. So, I'm not the only one who doubts the government, he said to himself and sighed.
“So, what happened after that night?”
“While hiding in the alley, I waited for the perfect moment to get away and treat my wound, but then…” he got a flashback of what happened that night.
“Mr. Bagrovskiy showed up in front of me, so I had no choice but to make a plan. So I said, I'll help him with his plan…”
“WHAT?!?!!” He blurted out, shocked. “What do you mean, help him with the plan? What plan?” he asked, and could see on his face that he was curious.
He startled, "Shh, shut the fvck up, dude... Are you out of your mind? What if he heard us?" He was referring to Nate, and he looked outside to see if he could hear them.
“Relax, I told you he wouldn't hear us. So what's the plan?”
“He didn't know I was undercover yet, so I told him I used to be an intelligence officer in Japan. I won't worry about my background anymore, I know that old geezer will take care of it…”
He looked at him, and he could see all over his face that he was worried. "Don't underestimate Bagrovskiy's abilities. What if he finds out right away?”
“Stop worrying about small things, if he does…” he stares at the ceiling and sighs. “I'll just figure it out. Stop looking at the dark side. I hope this plan of mine will work, but hopefully…”
He frowned. Small thing… he thought of himself.
“I asked him to help him find information about San Diego in exchange for sparing my life. I used that chance to get closer to Bagrovskiy so we could easily get information about their organization, as well as other organizations they are involved with.”
“W-what you did asked him to spare your life???!” He asked, confused. “A suicidal man I know asked to spare his life?!”
Haruto grinned.
This psycho, he mutters and gets chills.
“I need to copy the file,” he handed me a micro flash drive, “so I can give the file that Mr. Bagrovskiy needs. It's risky if I bring my laptop, so do me a favor.”
“Your laptop is in my lab. I think it's better if you stay here. I'll do it myself- they'll be more suspicious if you do it. Wait for me here.”
“Yeah, please hurry up,” he said nervously and looked outside to see what Nate was doing.
“Roger.”
He leaned and stared at the door, sighing. He felt that time was passing quickly because of what he was thinking, and there was no time to waste. He was nervous that Nate might get suspicious because they had been at the shop for 10 minutes.
