We arrived at the cat cafe. The car ride filled with laughter from shared interest and embarrassing childhood memories.
Me and Tida actually have some things in common. For example, we both like cats, anime and reading.
“Are you getting out of the car or are we gonna stay here the rest of the day?” Tida’s voice breaks my train of thoughts. I look at her.
“Oh, uh, yeah. I’m coming” I get out of the car and look at the cafe.
We aren't in the middle of nowhere but not in a big city either. It looks like an old fashioned cafe made of different shades of wood. From what looked like oak to birch.
As I looked through the windows with wooden, floral carvings in the corners, I notice that we are near a cliff. It has a beautiful view over the town of Tamworth. My hometown. How have I never been at this cafe before? Let alone heard of it. Tida seems familiar with this part of town. I think I did hear about a part of the cafe burning down actually.
Tida’s hands in front of my face snap me back to reality.
“You there, Prija?” She has a smile on her face.
“Yeah, sorry,” I say. “Just lost in thought,”
She goes towards the waiter and orders a table for two, it seems that the two know each other as I see them talking. I can’t hear what they’re talking about but it flustered Tida. She waves me over to her and the waiter.
I walk up to them and Tida points to the waiter.
“Prija, this is Ace, Ace this is Prija.” she says pointing from my to Ace, and from Ace to me. “Ace is a good friend of mine.”
Ace reaches out their hand to me and I take it.
“Nice to meet you, as T said, I'm a good friend of hers.” They must be close with that nickname.
“Nice to meet you too,” I say with a smile.
Ace gets two menus and makes a gesture for us to follow them. They lead us to a secluded spot in the restaurant, in the corner at the back.
The table is decorated with a white vase with blue flowers printed on it. The vase is filled with blue moon flowers.
An orange cat is on the couch at the table, closest to the window, laying peacefully. It sleeps and I try not to disrupt it.
The chandelier above the table looks fancy, with gems hanging from the golden coloured metal.
“Like the place?” Tida asks.
I looked over at her and noticed two cats cuddled up on a big red cat bed, also sleeping.
“Yeah,” I say, still looking around. “It’s magical.”
