The result hit him like a blow.

It was Zynex’s DNA.

      “How…” Blanki whispered.

The explanation followed quickly. When Zynex and Doggy were walking down the road that night, one of the masked men had attacked Zynex, injuring him badly. That was how his DNA ended up near the two men who later died.

A terrible coincidence.

Zynex tried to speak. He tried to explain. He knew exactly how it had happened.

But no one listened.

Not the officers.

Not the reporters.

Not even his own father.

Blanki turned away, his face hardened with disappointment and anger. That hurt more than anything else.

Then Blanki’s phone rang.

He answered - and instantly froze.

On the other end was Lyrin, his wife.

Her voice broke through the room, loud and shaking with emotion.

“Don’t you have a heart for your own son?” she screamed.

“Your SON is being watched from every city!”

“And tell that news reporter to put that camera away!”

The room fell into complete silence.

All eyes turned toward the reporter. Slowly, awkwardly, the camera was lowered. The red LIVE light went off.

The broadcast was over.

But the damage was already done.

Blanki clenched his fists, anger burning hotter than before. Without looking at Zynex, he spoke coldly to the officers.

“Put him in isolation,” he said.

“Until further information is gathered.”

Zynex felt his chest tighten.

“Trust me, Dad… it isn’t me,” he said quietly.

But Blanki had already turned away and walked out.

The door shut.

Alone in the cold room, Zynex realized the truth,

he had only one choice.

Rot in jail for a crime he didn’t commit…

or betray his new friend to save himself.
