Hello, World!
I am Teleria,
And this is a VERY silly idea.
I will try to explain…
Since 2025, I have been running a webtoon called “The Truth Tellers”, about romance in the K-pop industry. In this story, I introduced a 5-member boy group called Apollo. This fictional group debuted in 2019 from APL Entertainment, and immediately shot to the top of the pop charts with their refreshing tropical sounds, party vibes, and fresh faces.
“The Truth Tellers” is about Apollo the group: their career ups and downs, as well as their personal dramas. It’s a great story and I totally recommend it (LOL).
This story…is about Apollo’s fictional alter egos.
Like many K-pop groups, Apollo has a concept, and it’s a good one. They are supposed to be - get this - superpowered acolytes of the Greek god Apollo. In fact, each member represents a facet of Apollo’s mythical powers, and as a team, they have been charged with the noble goal of using their powers to guide and protect humanity.
It’s a little Power Rangers, a little Captain Planet…and a LOT hokey. But after planning out their lore with an amused smirk on my face, I began to wonder…could there be an actual story here?
“Dawn of Apollo” is that story. It is a story within a story - imagine a little shrink-wrapped booklet that comes with Apollo’s deluxe EP, the result of a harrowing two-week writing spree involving some convenient large-language model and a frazzled APL copywriter who has never been asked to do anything so over-the-top. However, if you like, you can also treat it as its own story: a story about an ordinary young man who discovers a larger world of magic, powerful forces, and the aches and bruises of young adulthood.
Two fictions…who can say which one is real? Could an obvious fiction be truer, in some ways, than the corporate entity that inspired it?
I hope you enjoy this one. All the chapters from here on are metafiction, and on Mondays we'll even have some commentary to double underline this point. Let's go!
P. S.: I am writing Dawn of Apollo at a time when I am taking a break from drawing. I regret that I cannot include any pictures in what was always conceived as a middle-grades illustrated novel - sorry! Later on, I will add in the illustrations.
