‘This is so boring!’
I couldn’t help but let that thought seeped into my mind as I sat at my desk.
At that moment, I had been working on my homework and studying for about two hours and I was starting to get bored.
Having to fight both my low attention span and my love for being on my phone, my psyche was being torn apart.
‘It’s a Saturday, I shouldn’t have to deal with all this homework. Who thought it was a good idea to make us learn both in and out of school?!’
With a sigh, I got up from my seat and stretched.
I continued these movements until I heard one of my favorite sounds.
The one everyone when they stretch after staying still for a while.
Pop!
With that satisfying pop, I felt instant relief.
‘Much better.’
Deciding that I’ll finish the rest later, I left my room and went to the living room instead.
There I found my phone which I left there in order to not get distracted by it.
When I picked up my phone, I noticed a text I got about 15 minutes ago.
— Dumb dumb Aurora: Do you wanna go on a date Sunday?
‘A date? Already?’
For a moment, my brain short circuited.
As you probably figured out, I was very inexperienced when it came to dating.
That meant I wasn’t really prepared for dates or anything of that nature yet.
Still, I didn’t want to decline her invitation just in case it disappointed her. And it’s not like I had anything planned anyway.
Plus, I figured that since Aurora was more experienced when it came to this stuff, she’d know the appropriate time to go on a date.
— Me: Sure
— Me: Where to?
For a couple of moments, the symbol that showed Aurora was typing showed.
Eventually, she responded.
—Dumb dumb Aurora: We’ll figure it out later
‘Wow, soooo responsible.’
—Me: 😑
—Me: Can you at least promise to come on time?
— Dumb dumb Aurora: You don’t make promises so why should I
Looking at the text, my eyebrow twitched in annoyance.
She was right, I didn’t make promises. Although, it was still a pain for her to use that against me.
— Me: Fair enough
With that, I continued on with the rest of my day, waiting in anticipation for tomorrow.
**
‘Is she going to be late again?’
I couldn’t help but have that thought as I sat at a bench.
It was now the next day and I was waiting at the park Aurora and I agreed to meet up at.
Unfortunately, I was unable to keep myself from worrying about Aurora repeating her habit of being late.
But, to my relief, my worries were unfounded.
“Hey Elliot,” Aurora greeted as she approached me.
“Yo,” I replied.
Aurora was wearing baggy jeans and a black shirt with a bunch of cartoon pears.
‘Pears?’
I thought the shirt was a little funny, but I still thought Aurora looked nice all the same.
“You look great,” I said, trying to give a good compliment.
“Thanks, you’re looking pretty good yourself,” she responded with a smile.
‘Now she mentions it, did I wear a good outfit?’
As Aurora sat down next to me, I pondered on this thought.
I was wearing a dark gray polo shirt with light gray dress pants so it wasn’t anything too bad.
But since I didn’t know where we were going, my outfit had to be good enough for any occasion.
Also, I wanted to be warm enough so that the fall breeze didn’t make me shiver.
“Alright so where do you wanna go?” I asked her with curiosity.
“Let’s go play golf,” Aurora responded.
I raised my eyebrow.
“Golf?” I repeated, making sure I heard her right.
“Yeah, I wanna get super good at every sport and golf is a sport. I used to play it with my parents when I was little so I wanna get back into it,” Aurora said.
‘Every sport? I know she’s a major sports junkie but really?’
“Where are we gonna play golf though?” I questioned.
“My parents have a membership to a club at a nearby course. We can go there,” She said.
‘Oh yeah, I forgot her family is rich. Her parents having a membership to some fancy golf club makes sense.’
With a look of understanding, I asked, “Are you ready to go then?”
“Yeah, let me call a cab,” she said.
I made a confused expression.
“Why do we need a cab? How far away is it?” I asked.
“Like a 15 minute walk,” Aurora responded calmly.
‘Eh?’
“We don’t need a cab for that. Do you even think before spending money?” I replied.
“No, not really.”
I sighed.
‘Dating a rich girl will certainly be an interesting experience.’
