The only thing I had in mind throughout this whole scene was how I wanted Tera to be captivated by the Boy haha. I wanted him so absorbed that he is no longer fully in control of himself. You can see it in the way he tilts his head, something he does when he slips into deep inner thoughts. It's unconscious. And then the way he lifts his head at the same time as the Boy: he just follows the movement without thinking, he is startled by the sudden gesture, pulled out of his thoughts.
And then the way he leans against his fist. What's going on in his head?
It is as if he already knows his character is irresistibly drawn to the Boy, like a magnet.
Something pulls at both of them.
I put a lot of effort into writing the dialogue! I try to be mindful of how each of them expresses themselves, and Tera is always a challenge because he is quiet, very silent but intensely present. He is clumsy in his attempts to help, more gestures than words. He expresses love from the side, never head on.
"To chase your nightmares away for you" was originally "with you". But that collaborative feeling did not fit Tera well. He has this protective, dominant nature. And it's more romantic haha.
Then his first instinct is to offer his strength. I don't need to add anything else, it is all he knows.
