Zynex woke up late that morning, the sunlight sneaking through the curtains like it was trying to catch him doing something wrong. He groaned and rolled over.
“Great… even the sun is judging me now,” he muttered.
After rushing through his morning routine, half-combed hair, slightly crooked shirt, there was a knock at the door. A guard poked his head in.
“Sir, Aisan is here,” the guard said. “She says it’s important. And she won’t stop smiling.”
Zynex raised an eyebrow.
“That’s… suspicious. Hmm. Let her in.”
A moment later, Aisan burst into the room like a gust of wind, her smile so wide it looked painful. She practically ran up the stairs, nearly tripping on the last step.
“ZYNEX!” she shouted.
“Good morning to you too,” Zynex said, laughing. “What’s got you this excited? Did the world end and I missed it?”
“Even better,” Aisan said, barely able to contain herself. “The helicopter.”
Zynex froze.
“…What about it?”
“It’s fixed!” she said proudly. “Completely! After weeks of waiting, arguing, and almost giving up, it's finally ready!”
For a second, Zynex just stared at her. Then a slow smile spread across his face.
“So,” he said, standing up, “we’re really doing this.”
“Yes!” Aisan nodded eagerly. “We can finally continue the journey.”
Without wasting time, Zynex grabbed his communicator and made a call.
“I need a private pilot,” he said calmly. “Destination: Kunkana Land. Departure on Saturday.”
He ended the call, then turned serious.
“Everyone needs to prepare,” he told Aisan. “Once we leave… there’s no coming back to Hylan anytime soon.”
Word spread fast.
The guild members gathered later that day, half excited, half nervous. Some were packing supplies like it was the end of the world. Others were arguing over who forgot what.
Doggy stared at a map upside down.
“Uh… Zynex?” he said. “Why does Kunkana Land look like a dragon?”
“That’s because you’re holding it upside down,” Zynex replied.
“Oh! My bad.”
Just when things started to calm down, a familiar voice spoke from behind.
“Hey… can I come in?”
The room went quiet.
Atonix stood at the doorway, awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck. He looked… different. Less confident. Less sharp.
“I heard you recovered,” Atonix said. “I-I didn’t know about your illness. I thought you were trying to expose me. I panicked.”
A ruby disappeared,
The Rockhound legend was killed,
And the government knows more than it admits.
Zynex begins a dangerous search for the Lost Ruby—only to discover his own family may be part of the mystery.
Some secrets were meant to stay buried. But the secrets were infront of Zynex, he just couldnt see it.
