A Promise from Me to You

Brought to School

Brought to School

Feb 14, 2026

‘Where is it?! C’mon, I need to find it or I’ll be late!’

I frantically looked around the apartment, moving and overturning objects as I did.

At that moment, I was looking for my phone but I had no idea where it went.

I looked under the couch and my bed, then in the kitchen and the bathroom too, but I still couldn’t find it.

‘I could’ve sworn I had it a moment ago…’

Then, I noticed something in my pants pocket.

Sticking my hand in, I found a rectangular object inside.

‘It was here?!’

Inside my pocket was my phone.

I had somehow forgotten it was there and spent the last 10 minutes trying to find it.

‘I’m such an idiot.’

As much as I wanted to beat myself up for my stupidity, I had to get to school.

So I grabbed my bag, rushed out of my home and headed to the bus stop.

Eventually, I ended up reaching the school 5 minutes before we got sent upstairs for our first period class.

However, when I entered the cafeteria and sat down at my usual table, something surprising happened.

“Hey, you’re Aurora’s boyfriend right?” A voice asked.

“Are you really dating Aurora?” Another voice asked.

Soon, a small crowd of people, both male and female, gathered around me.

They bombarded me with questions about my relationship with Aurora and I didn’t really know how to respond.

‘What the hell is going on?’

At first, I didn’t realize what was happening so it caught me off guard.

But then I realized something.

Considering Aurora’s popularity, word about us dating would’ve spread quickly, even if she only told one or two people.

Which led me into this kind of situation.

‘Crap, I should’ve thought about this earlier. I forgot that others would know about us dating as well. Since we started dating on Friday, we never got a full school day as a couple so I didn’t think about it.’

Tristan and Nishimoya, who were also sitting at the table, didn’t do much.

Nishimoya had a very confused and surprised expression while Tristan only slightly raised his eyebrow.

‘Sorry guys.’

I couldn’t blame them for their confusion, it was quite the unique sight for a random Monday morning.

Fortunately, these shenanigans didn’t last for long. We all had to go to our first period classes so they couldn’t harass me with any more questions.

Speaking of my classes, I had math for my first period.

It wasn’t a terrible period but it wasn’t a very interesting one either.

Honestly, I was thinking a lot about Aurora for most of it. I was looking forward to actually being a couple at school for the first time.

However, I couldn’t think about this much in my second period, since I had science with Nishimoya.

And I knew Nishimoya was going to ask questions.

“What happened with you and Aurora? Are you guys really dating?” Nishimoya asked me eagerly.

I sighed.

Since Mr. Bostav allowed us to work as partners frequently, this gave Nishimoya the perfect excuse to interrogate me.

‘I guess she deserves an explanation anyway.’

“Yeah, Aurora and I are dating now,” I replied.

Nishimoya’s eyes widened.

“When did you guys start dating?” She asked quickly.

“Friday, after school.”

Nishimoya made a very intriguing expression but then it turned confused.

“Wait, who confessed first?” She asked.

“Her,” I responded.

“I never would’ve thought she liked you,” Nishimoya muttered.

I shrugged.

“Me neither.”

We both began to work on the assignment we were given but Nishimoya still asked me a few questions throughout the rest of the period.

In art class, I enjoyed my peace away from Nishimoya interrogation.

I focused fully this time and decided to put forth my best effort. But, due to my art skills not meeting my standards, I got frustrated from having to try again over and over.

For my next period, Phys ed, I shared the class with Tristan.

He didn’t ask anything about what happened that morning or if I was dating Aurora or not.

I knew he wouldn’t ask anything, but I was curious what he thought about it.

‘Wait, I probably should’ve at least texted him that Aurora and I started dating. Eh, we don’t tell each other stuff anyway.’

Tristan and I talked and played hockey for the rest of the period.

Now that I think about it, it was nice being best friends with someone so disconnected at times.

It makes you not have to worry when you’re with them.

Next, was lunch.

When Tristan and I got to our seat, we noticed that Aurora was already there, being interrogated by Nishimoya.

Once we sat down, Aurora turned her attention towards me and smiled.

“Hey Elliot,” She greeted.

“Hey,” I responded.

I paused for a moment before continuing.

“Aurora, could you control your friends next time? They practically drowned me in questions this morning,” I said with a sigh.

Aurora chuckled.

“Sounds like a you problem,” she replied.

My eyebrow twitched.

‘Screw you.’

“Did you tell Tristan about how you and Aurora are dating?” Nishimoya asked curiously.

I was about to answer, but Tristan spoke first.

“Nah. I figured that out on my own.”

Nishimoya made an expression of understanding before going back to questioning Aurora.

In the meanwhile, I thought about something.

‘I wonder why Aurora’s friends aren’t here this time. Maybe, they forgot about me. I’m not very memorable anywa…wait. Where is Soriel?’

Glancing around for a few moments, I took notice of Soriel’s absence.

“Hey Tristan, where is Soriel?” I asked.

Tristan looked up from his book and stared at me.

“Why would I know?” He asked with a deadpan expression.

“Good point,” I replied.

‘Does she skip our lunch periods too?’

I wanted to ponder over this matter for a little longer, however my thoughts were interrupted by someone.

“Elliotttt, say ah,” Aurora said.

Looking in front of me, I saw Aurora holding a spoonful of rice to my face.

‘Is she trying to feed me? And where the hell did she get rice?!’

I slowly inched my head away from the spoon but Aurora kept on inching closer.

“Nah, I don’t think I will,” I said.

“C’mon, lemme feed you,” Aurora requested.

“No?” I replied

Unfortunately, this traumatic exchange lasted for the rest of the lunch period.

Fortunately, I had English as my next period which allowed for me to answer my question.

When I sat down at my seat, I noticed Soriel was behind me, with a cheerful smile like always.

“Hi Elliot,” she whispered.

“Hey Soriel. Where were you at lunch?” I asked.

“Oh yeah. Sorry, I was practicing the piano in the music room,” Soriel answered.

‘Ah, that makes sense. I should’ve thought of that.’

“Oh Soriel, I wanted to let you know something,” I said.

“What is it?” She asked.

“I’m dating Aurora.”

For a few moments Soriel was almost completely silent.

Then, she lit up in excitement.

“Really?! That’s great! I’m so happy for you,” She said, a bit too loudly.

Soriel covered her mouth in embarrassment.

Fortunately, no one else paid her any mind.

“Yeah, thank you,” I replied.

Soriel began to ask me a few questions about how Aurora and I got together.

But she didn’t get as nosy as Nishimoya and only asked a little.

Once I answered all of her questions, we ended up focusing back on the lesson.

For my next periods which were Social Studies and Spanish, I had to do a lot of work.

We also had a lot of homework, which was a pain.

Regardless of that, I still had practice so I got changed once school ended and went over to the park.

At practice, we repeated the same routine as last time.

We did a few stretches, mobility drills, laps of jogging as warm up.

And we split into groups. Each of us doing our specialized workouts.

Once we finished, I was pretty exhausted and laid down on the grass.

While I relaxed, Austin approached me.

“So you’re dating Aurora now?” He asked as he sat down next to me.

I tilted my head towards him.

‘Oh yeah, he’s pretty popular too. It makes sense for him to know about us.’

“Yeah I am,” I replied.

Austin sat down next to me and sighed.

“Welp, good on you. Maybe you’ll get an inheritance from her family. Although, even with all that money you’ll still be much slower than me,” Austin said playfully.

I sighed.

“Alright bro. You wait and see, I’ll be faster than you one day,” I said.

“Sure you will buddy,” Austin replied.

Soon after, practice ended.

Bringing to an end my third day of dating Aurora.

In this world, talent is everything—and Elliot Elanderin has none.

At Laxus Flare Academy, surrounded by brilliance and excellence, superiority is law.
Elliot knows the truth. He’s not even comparable to his friends or his foes. Love or hate, truth or lie, Elliot can't see what's inside.

Then, a single stutter during a presentation shatters his control—and sends him running.

That’s when he hears a song. One unlike anything else in the world.

It leads him to a girl whose talent eclipses the academy itself… and whose hidden darkness reflects everything Elliot lacks.

Soon, he begins to learn about her, his friends, and the feelings left uncovered. New relationships begin to flourish, both platonic and romantic.

As his competition grows and as his ambition rises with it, Elliot is forced to confront a question he’s never thought about before:

Who did he want to become?
