Mad House Shadows: Dead Body Girl Book 2

Missing Kari

Missing Kari

Feb 20, 2026

Family Interview question: What did you miss the most while Kari was away?

Reno: “I missed the way she was such a bad winner. The way she would gloat and dance around if she even got a little ahead of me in a video game. It just made it that much funnier when she lost in the end.”

Vegas: “Yeah, like I miss the way she would wave her hands in front of my face any time I was beating her at video games and she would totally try to distract me to cheat.”

Angie: “I miss the way she was so shitty at lying. She would make the most outrageous excuses for things with a completely straight face. I lost count of how many times she blamed the random crap she did on flying monkeys from a movie.”

Jiro: “I miss the way she would try to pick vegetables out of her food, and try to hide them in different places, in her coat pocket, her hair, down her shirt. As if no one notice the front of her shirt bulging out or the way she smelled like onions after dinner.”

Tina: “I miss the way Kari would steal my candies when I wasn’t looking, and blame it on the goblins under my bed.” (Tina shakes her head ruefully) “But I already know goblins only eat socks.”

Noah: “I miss the way Kari would laugh, and smile, and the way her hair would float around on the breeze like she was an angel. I miss the way she would hold my hand and she would defend me and was so confident. And the way I never felt alone when I was around her. And –“

Reno cuts him off: “Noah, Noah, you’re totally missing the theme man.”

Vegas nods: “Yeah, there was a theme, dude. Even Tina got it.”

Noah: “A theme? But I thought we were just answering a question.”

Angie: “Nope, there was a theme, and you totally flubbed it.”

Jiro: “There was a theme?”

Dead Body Girl: Extra Bodies is a series of extra information that is interesting and gives a deeper understanding of the characters and their world, but is not vital to understanding the main story. It’s totally fine to skip these little extras, they are just fun little things to read. They include little factoids about the characters or world, interviews with the characters, extra scenes related to the story, and other little tidbits. I hope you have as much fun reading these as I did writing them!

This is a story about family. It's also a story about necromancers, murder, ancient magic, vampires, group therapy, legions of zombie rats, Italian food, serial killers, and one girl with god like powers. But mostly it's wholesome family shit.
In Kari’s second adventure, she wakes up in the hospital to some big changes in her life. A little sister that’s a stranger, a friend that’s suddenly much much more, and an enemy that’s suddenly her bestie? Kari is going to have to roll with the punches if she doesn’t want to be knocked down by a family she might not know anymore. But it’s not only her family that’s worrisome. Are the shadows lurking over her shoulders and the nightmares haunting her sleep, trauma from her last battle or something more frightening?
