Soundscape:
[Soft piano hum. Morning cicadas. The faint buzz of Tokyo waking up.]
Warm sunlight spilled through the curtains, washing the small dorm room in a gentle gold.
Kasane stirred beneath the thin blanket, her lashes flickering as her eyes adjusted to the light.
For a moment, her vision was hazy shapes and color melting into one another until the morning rays finally found her eyes, painting amber hues across her irises.
The sound of the city drifted in through the window: distant footsteps, quiet traffic, the soft call of a delivery drone gliding overhead.
Everything felt… still.
Peaceful in a way she hadn’t felt in years.
Kasane sat up slowly, brushing a lock of dark hair from her face.
Her eyes followed the light crawling along the wall, over her boots resting neatly by the door. She took a deep breath, letting the air settle in her lungs — it smelled faintly of rain and new beginnings.
Then came a knock.
knock, knock, knock.
“Kasane!”
The familiar voice was bright and melodic, muffled by the door but impossible to mistake.
Krystal (through the door):
“Hey! You awake? C’mon, sleepyhead! It’s your first day! I figured I’d come pick you up before you get lost.”
Kasane blinked once, twice, still shaking off the weight of sleep.
Kasane:
“…You didn’t have to.”
A soft laugh followed.
Krystal:
“Yeah, but then I’d have no one to talk to on the way! Besides, first impressions are important — can’t have you showing up late, right?”
Kasane sighed — not out of annoyance, more out of quiet amusement. She rose from her bed, got changed and put her favorite black and red jacket on. The mirror by her desk caught her reflection for a moment — tired eyes, calm face, a storm beneath both.
She opened the door.
Krystal Amane stood there — radiant as ever, silver hair shimmering under the hallway light, black scarf, black shirt, and baggy white pants. Gunbai slightly uneven like she’d rushed to put it on. She held two cans of coffee, offering one with a grin.
Krystal:
“Morning, sunshine.”
Kasane took it. “..Thanks.”
Krystal:
“No problem. You ready? The academy’s a bit of a trip from here, but the train ride’s nice — you can see the whole bay once we pass Uminomori Park.”
Kasane slipped on her boots, checked her phone, then nodded. “Let’s go.”
Transition:
[Door slides open. Distant chatter of morning commuters.]
The two walked side by side through the early streets of Shibuya.
Steam rose from manholes, mixing with the pale sunlight. Cafés were just opening — the scent of brewed coffee drifting through the crisp air.
Krystal was already talking a natural rhythm in her voice, like she filled silence wherever it tried to form.
Krystal:
“I still can’t believe you got dorm room 207... That view is crazy beautiful. I was stuck facing a brick wall in my middle school years at Nova Academy”
Kasane gave a faint smile. “Guess I got lucky.”
Krystal:
“You sure did. Oh — wait until you see the academy itself. It’s built on an artificial island, right near the theme parks. Looks like something out of a sci-fi movie.”
They crossed through the station plaza, the morning crowd weaving around them. Screens displayed weather updates and news about Divine Energy regulation tests across the Tokyo Bay region.
Kasane’s gaze lingered on one headline — “Minor Energy Surge Detected Near Akatsuki Line.”
Her brow twitched slightly, but she said nothing.
Krystal:
“You okay?”
Kasane:
“Yeah. Just thinking.”
Krystal:
“You sure?
Kasane: “Trust..”
Krystal: “Hmm….alright!”
The two boarded the train bound for Akatsuki Port.
The doors slid shut with a mechanical hiss.
Soundscape:
[Train rumbling. Overhead announcements. Gentle wind through open windows.]
The city fell away behind them, replaced by the open stretch of sea.
The tracks curved along the coast, offering a breathtaking view of Tokyo Bay — sunlight scattering across the water like a thousand shards of glass.
Krystal pressed her forehead to the window, excitement lighting up her expression.
Krystal:
“You see…that right there is Nova Academy.”
Kasane followed her gaze. In the distance, rising from the water, stood the silhouette of Nova Academy — a gleaming network of bridges and towers, all powered by glowing conduits of Divine Energy that pulsed like veins of light beneath the waves.
The Academy’s main tower reached high into the sky, its symbol — a stylized wing over a sun — etched into the metal.
Kasane (quietly):
“It’s… bigger than I imagined.”
Krystal:
“Impressive, right? They say it runs entirely on purified Divine Energy. Even the water around the island glows at night.”
Kasane:
“Feels… alive.”
Krystal:
“That’s one way to put it. My theory? The whole place has a personality — and it’s always watching.”
Kasane gave her a side glance. “Is that supposed to make me feel better?”
Krystal laughed, leaning back in her seat. “Nah. But it sounds cool, doesn’t it?”
The train slowed as it neared the terminal. The sun shimmered across the glass towers ahead, and for the first time since she’d arrived in Tokyo, Kasane felt something stir deep within her chest — anticipation, maybe. Or something older.
Kasane (monologue):
“This city has a heartbeat.
And somehow… I can hear it.”
The intercom chimed.
[“Now arriving: Akatsuki Port. Transfer line — Nova Academy.”]
The train doors opened to a rush of sea breeze and the scent of salt.
Krystal stood first, stretching, then turned to Kasane with that same bright grin.
Krystal:
“Are you ready, Kasane?”
Kasane:
“Yeah.” pauses, gazing at the sunlit island ahead
“Let’s go.”
Together, they stepped off the train and onto the platform — where the wind carried the faint sound of waves and, just beneath it, a hum too subtle for anyone else to notice. The two went to board the next short train ride to Nova Academy…
Few moments later
Finally..the two arrived at Nova Academy!
Krystal: “Here we are! Nova Academy… the heart of the Scarlet Guardians.”
Kasane (monologue):
“A new city. A new sky. Maybe this time… I’ll find answers.”
[ the distant silhouette of Nova Academy rises from the sea.]
Students gathered near the main gate—some chatting nervously, others filming the view with their visors. Nova Academy’s insignia—a golden sigil shaped like an eye over crossed wings—was etched into the gate’s massive glass doors.
Krystal: “Welcome, Kasane Arisato.”
Kasane: “....Guess this is it.”
As they stepped through the main gates, the air shimmered faintly—a tingling static, like walking through invisible electricity. Kasane stopped mid-stride, her gaze sharpening.
Kasane: “...Do you feel that?”
Krystal: “Huh? Feel what?”
Kasane: “Something’s… humming.”
Krystal frowned and tapped the side of her earpiece, but then she felt it too—
a low vibration beneath their feet, as if the island itself took a breath.
A sudden chill swept across the courtyard. The air thickened—heavy, distorted.
Students turned in confusion. Lights along the walkways flickered once, twice—then shattered.
Then it appeared.
A ripple in space just beyond the central fountain—like water disturbed by a stone—expanded outward. From that distortion crawled three twisted figures, humanoid of random civilians but then warped into monsters, their forms flickering between solid and ethereal. Their eyes glowed with fractured light.
Whispers filled the air—fragmented, broken echoes of human voices.
Krystal (panicked whisper): “Those are… elite Corrupts?”
Kasane: nods, voice steady “So…that’s what they are…”
Screams erupted as students backed away, some tripping over benches and gear.
Instructors shouted commands, summoning barriers of Divine Energy, but the Corrupt moved like liquid darkness, slashing through the air with inhuman speed.
Kasane’s eyes tracked every motion—each distortion, each pulse of Divine Energy rippling through them. She had thoughts of fighting, but she hesitated—she wasn’t ready yet.
The ripple of Divine Energy expanded across the courtyard, shattering the marble tiles beneath the students’ feet. Fear spread like wildfire — until a calm voice, dripping with confidence, cut through the chaos.
???: “Relax, kids. You’re not dying on your first day.”
A sudden surge of wind tore through the plaza. Someone landed in the center with effortless grace — boots hitting the ground hard enough to crater it slightly.
He stood tall and relaxed, hands in his coat pockets. His hair — a sharp silvery-with some red — caught the sunlight as his sunglasses reflected the burning remains of the shattered lights.
Even without trying, his presence silenced everything.
Krystal (stunned): “Wait… that’s—”
Kasane: “Who is he?”
Krystal: “That’s Akira. The Flash of Nova. Thee strongest Scarlet Guardian alive.”
Akira tilted his head toward the Corrupt and smiled lazily.
Akira: “Man, couldn’t even make it through the first day without a tutorial boss huh?”
The Elite Corrupt screeched, lunging at him.
In the blink of an eye — he was gone.
A sonic crack echoed through the courtyard as Akira reappeared behind the creature, hand making a gun gesture glowing with radiant red light.
Akira: “…Too slow.”
The creature disintegrated instantly.
The other appeared — then another — but each was erased in a flash of pure Divine Energy.
The students could barely track his movements; even the instructors were speechless.
But then, the sky itself darkened — a thunderous vibration shook the island. An Alpha Elite Corrupt emerged, towering, crystalline, its voice like overlapping screams.
Elite Corrupt: “You… reek of stolen divinity.”
Akira (menace grinning): “And you reek shit!”
He raised his palm toward the sky. Teleports instantly above all. The sunglasses caught the flare of light —
and in the reflection, the monster’s own image distorted and broke apart.
Divine Energy converged into his hand — the air trembling as red lightning arced between his fingers.
Akira: “Alright everyone… sunglasses on.”
A single gesture — a storm of red light.
The Elite Corrupt was obliterated in one blinding strike of red shape swords, reduced to nothing but ash and fading whispers.
When the light cleared, Akira stood amid the wreckage, adjusting his white cloak. His sunglasses glowed faintly with reflected energy.
Akira: “And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what we call crowd control.”
The students erupted — a mix of awe, fear, and disbelief.
Kasane and Krystal stood frozen, eyes wide, the afterimage of the blast still burned into their sight.
Akira turned slightly, his gaze behind the glasses locking onto Kasane.
Even without seeing his eyes, she felt it — a knowing smirk, sharp as lightning.
Akira: “Hey you, new girl. Don’t blink next time.”
And just like that, he was gone — leaving behind only drifting sparks and the hum of the restored Divine Energy flow.
Krystal (still in shock): “...He’s insane.”
Kasane (quietly): “....yeah...”
Kasane (monologue):
“If that’s the level of a Scarlet Guardian…
then I’ve barely scratched the surface.”
The wind shifted. The sea shimmered once more beneath the island.
But in that brief moment of calm, Kasane felt something deep beneath the surface—a pulse in the Divine Energy flow, faint but wrong.
As if the world itself had flinched.
The camera pans up again—Nova Academy gleaming in the distance, Akira’s light still lingering above the towers.
