TOKYO LEGENDS

Chapter 4 (1/2): The Council of Scarlet

Chapter 4 (1/2): The Council of Scarlet

Mar 06, 2026

Soundscape:

[Low hum of energy conduits. The distant rush of rain on glass. Wind howling through the Nova Tower spire.]

The top floor of Nova Academy’s Command Wing gleamed like a cathedral of glass and light.
Blue veins of Divine Energy pulsed beneath the transparent floor, illuminating a circular council chamber suspended above the city.

In the center stood Chancellor Reina, her white cloak trailing behind her as the digital table before her flickered to life — twelve faces glowing across the surface.

Reina (calmly):
“Class Zero. The first in over a decade.”

Her tone was serene, but her eyes carried the weight of sleepless nights. Around her sat the Scarlet Guardian Commanders — Tokyo’s six strongest Guardians, each a living legend in their own right.

⚔️ The Scarlet Guardian Commanders Present

  • Akira Satoru – Vanguard Division

  • Ryo Kanzaki – Ranged / Tactical Division

  • Saya Kurogane – Healing / Resonance Division

  • Daichi Morozawa – Tactical Warfare

  • Aira Nanase – Espionage & Recon

  • Hoshino Arai – Aether Research Division

The air vibrated faintly as Reina began her briefing.

🜂 Reina’s Address

“After last week’s Corrupt incident, our energy readings spiked across Tokyo’s Divine circuits. The surge wasn’t random — it synchronized with the arrival of twelve students, all registering resonance levels far beyond the standard metric.”

Reina’s hand slid across the table, cycling through the twelve profiles — names and metrics hovering in neon blue light.

“These twelve are now designated as Class Zero — Nova Academy’s highest combat division. Their performance will define the next generation of Scarlet Guardians.”

A faint smirk tugged at Ryo’s mouth.

Ryo: “Twelve hand-picked prodigies, huh? Haven’t seen talent like this since the Kyronova batch.”
Daichi: “Let’s just hope they don’t end up like them.”

A brief silence. Reina’s expression darkened.

Reina: “That’s exactly why they need guidance.”

🔺 The Breakdown

Reina expanded the hologram — the twelve faces splitting into three groups of four.

Reina:
“Class Zero will not function as a single squad. Each team will be autonomous — a specialized strike unit trained under a dedicated instructor. These are their provisional divisions.”

Team A — The Storm Blades

  • Kasane Arisato

  • Chase Takahiro

  • Riku Tsukami

  • Krystal Amane

Reina: “The most unpredictable formation. Multi-element resonance, high combat adaptability… but unstable synchronization.”

Aira leaned forward, smirking faintly.

Aira: “Unstable’s one word for it. They’ve got the strongest affinities and the least discipline.”
Reina: “Which is why they need someone who can match them in both spirit and strength.”

Her gaze turned toward Akira.

For a moment, the room went silent. The faint hum of the table filled the space.

Akira, lounging casually in his seat, finally raised an eyebrow.

Akira: “You’re looking at me, Chancellor.”
Reina: “You haven’t taken a team since your promotion. Maybe it’s time.”

Akira exhaled softly, tipping his shades down.

Akira: “Team full of kids with fire in their eyes, no restraint, and enough elemental chaos to fry the academy’s power grid?”
(pauses, smirks)
“You know… alright. Sounds fun. I’ll take these brats.”

Even Ryo looked surprised.

Ryo: “Wait..huh.. serious? You haven’t mentored a team in years. Just that one kid who’s a second year”
Akira: “Guess I finally found a group that might survive me.”

Reina smiled faintly, the tension easing for just a moment.

Reina: “Then it’s settled. Team A — under Commander Akira Satoru.”

Team B — The Elemental Crest

  • Hanabi Kurosawa

  • Kaito Fujimura

  • Naomi Kurosawa

  • Seto Minami

Reina: “Elemental balance, strong defense core. A tactical unit capable of battlefield control.”

Ryo leaned back with a grin.

Ryo: “Heh. I like this one. I’ll take ‘em. Hanabi’s got spark — reminds me of me back in the day.”
Daichi: “You mean reckless and loud?”
Ryo: “Exactly.”

Laughter flickered across the table — brief but genuine.

Reina: “Team B — under Commander Ryo Kanzaki.”

Team C — The Resonant Hearts

  • Gemma Laurent

  • Corin Tatsuki

  • Hugo Sato

  • Vivian Lee

Reina: “The last formation. Not our strongest fighters, but the most unique energy types. Their resonance levels border on spiritual harmonization.”

Saya Kurogane closed her eyes, the faint glow of Divine glyphs tracing her sleeves.

Saya: “Resonance isn’t strength alone. It’s empathy, clarity. They’ll need a steady voice — not another blade.”
Reina: “And you’ll provide that voice.”
Saya: “Gladly.”

Reina nodded.

“Then the council agrees — three teams, three instructors.”

🌌 Final Remarks

As the holographic table dimmed, Reina clasped her hands behind her back, staring through the glass wall overlooking the city below.
Tokyo’s neon arteries pulsed faintly with Divine Energy, painting her reflection in hues of blue and red.

Reina (softly):
“Class Zero… the first of a new generation.”
(beat)
“Let’s hope they’re ready. The world won’t wait for legends to grow.”

Akira’s reflection flickered beside hers — his grin faint but sincere.

Akira: “Don’t worry, Chancellor. Legends don’t wait either.”

The lights dimmed as thunder rolled across the horizon, casting streaks of lightning across the Nova Tower.
Outside, Tokyo shimmered — alive, restless, waiting for its new guardians.

“The Next Generation Must Prove Their Worth.”

Soundscape:

[Low rumble of rain against glass. The mechanical hum of the Nova Chamber. Faint chatter among Commanders.]

The Council meeting continued late into the night.
Holographic charts shifted across the center table — names, stats, elemental graphs flickering in blue and red light.
The atmosphere was calmer now, but heavy with thought.

Chancellor Reina stood at the table’s edge, arms crossed as she surveyed the rest of the first-year roster.

Reina: “That concludes the selection for Class Zero. Now, let’s discuss the remaining divisions — Classes One through Three.”

The hologram rotated again — dozens of new student profiles appeared, arranged in neat clusters.

🏫 The 1st-Year Roster Overview

Class 1 – Combat Core Division

Focused on standard battle and formation tactics.
Instructor: Commander Daichi Morozawa
Known for: Discipline, defense, and order.

Class 2 – Elemental Control & Research

Specializes in elemental mastery, energy regulation, and Divine science.
Instructor: Commander Hoshino Arai
Known for: Precision and innovation; responsible for crystal analysis research.

Class 3 – Reconnaissance & Field Operations

Focused on scouting, intelligence, and stealth.
Instructor: Commander Aira Nanase
Known for: Espionage excellence and high-risk infiltration drills.

Reina looked around the table, her tone calm but weighted.

“Each class represents a piece of the Scarlet Guardian framework. Class One—the foundation. Class Two—the mind. Class Three—the eyes. And Class Zero…”

She paused, letting the name echo through the chamber.

“...The heart that will determine the academy’s future.”

Ryo exhaled, leaning back in his seat.

Ryo: “If they’re the heart, then we better see if they can beat.”
Aira: “Or if they’ll burst under pressure.”

A faint grin tugged at Akira’s lips.

Akira: “You all sound like skeptics. I like it.”

Reina’s gaze turned sharp.

Reina: “Skepticism isn’t distrust, Akira. It’s preparation.”

Saya spoke softly, her voice calm against the faint hum of energy.

Saya: “We could speculate all night, but words don’t reveal truth. Only performance does.”

Daichi: “Agreed. Let’s see if this new batch can actually fight.”

The table’s center projection zoomed in — highlighting Class Zero’s stats once again.
A small red marker pulsed next to Kasane’s name, then spread to the rest of her team.

Reina: “Their energy levels are remarkable. But power alone isn’t skill. I propose we test all three teams — from class zero — in a controlled simulation.”

Ryo: “A full-blown combat test on day one?”

Reina: “Not a full test. A display. Something to measure their instincts and adaptability.”

Akira: grinning “You mean a fight.”

Reina: smiles faintly “A friendly one.”

The other commanders glanced at one another, a mix of interest and amusement crossing their faces.
