When Claire shouted at me,
I fired right back.
“Whose side are you on?!”
I started wondering if Claire owed June something.
“Do you owe June or something?!”
I pressed her immediately.
Still sitting there while skillfully balancing with only one shoe on,
Claire let out an annoyed huff
and stretched both hands toward me.
I had no idea what she intended to do,
but it was obviously nothing good for me.
So I quickly grabbed both of her hands,
blocking whatever she was trying to do.
I had the upper hand!
Holding onto Claire’s hands pulled me closer to her.
That’s when I noticed she was sitting on top of a textbook.
It was her textbook.
And resting on her lap was another one—
with my name written on it.
It was the book I had asked her to hold for me
while I used the horizontal bar.
I had thrown Claire’s shoe,
yet she hadn’t thrown my book.
She had simply placed it neatly on her lap.
Seeing that,
it was obvious she wasn’t actually that angry.
If she had been truly furious,
she would’ve thrown my book too.
No matter what she said,
Claire was kind.
Hmm.
Or maybe she had simply forgotten
she was holding my book.
Either way,
I liked Claire’s gentle personality.
“What’s that got to do with this?!
Go get it!!
Or I’m not eating with you!!”
“Suit yourself.
Your loss~”
I also liked how easy she was to tease.
Watching Claire get irritated
was kind of funny.
I was planning to tease her a bit more
before bringing the shoe back.
Claire might’ve started it,
but I was still going to go get it.
That probably made me a pretty nice person.
While we were busy bickering,
I sensed someone approaching us.
Then suddenly,
a hand slipped right between Claire and me.
It was wearing a dark green watch.
A hand I had definitely seen before.
I followed it with my eyes
and looked up.
It was Daniel.
