Chapter 12: Divine Artifact

Chapter 12: Divine Artifact

Mar 22, 2026

“Madam Diviner, are you questioning the Yan family?” Yan Hong said.

Sibelyna glanced at him and gently shook her head without answering.

“Madam Diviner, will you not respond?” Yan Hong pressed.

“Why don’t you ask yourself why you would ask me such a question?” Sibelyna replied.

Yan Hong’s lips pressed into a thin line.

“Mr. Yan Hong, I believe Madam Diviner is merely offering a warning about a possible future. She means no disrespect toward the Yan family,” Colton interjected to smooth things over.

Yan Hong did not pursue the matter further. Sibelyna gave a slight nod. “Thank you, Mr. Brown.”

“What I want to say is this: things are slipping out of my control.” Sibelyna’s voice grew more solemn.

“What do you mean?” the others asked, a trace of unease in their voices.

Sibelyna was the most powerful seer in the world. Her prophecies had aided countless organizations. Despite her identity as an assassin, she was widely trusted. Now that she had personally stated that the future was slipping beyond her grasp, it was only natural that everyone felt unsettled.

Aside from Sibelyna, whose age was unknown, the oldest person in the room, Haruwa Ginzi, spoke calmly. “Does this mean you can no longer see the future, at least for now?”

“More precisely, Changyuan’s future has become blurred,” Sylvilina said. “After the masquerade ball, countless possible futures intertwined. I can only barely identify a few specific nodes that are certain to occur.”

“If that’s all, then it doesn’t really affect us, does it?” Anastasia said, her tone tinged with sarcasm—a jab at Sylvilina’s usual habit of speaking in riddles.

The others found that reasonable.

“We’ve only spoken once, Lady Hayes. I didn’t expect you to hold such a grudge.” Though her face was hidden behind a veil, the helplessness in Sylvilina’s tone was unmistakable.

“Ahem. If the future became unclear after the masquerade ball, could the actions of the Non-Affinity Group at the event have affected your abilities?” Colton quickly stepped in before the conversation derailed.

“They did, but not to the extent of weakening my ability,” Sylvilina replied. As a demigod, even interference from someone of equal level would not blur the future to this degree.

Moreover, the ability to foresee the future was notoriously difficult to disrupt.

“So, this is the message I wish to convey: the unknown enemy may possess a divine artifact, or they may also have a demigod of fate. I consider the former more likely.”

Divine artifacts were tools created by the gods—one of the few remaining traces they had left behind. Even the faintest hint of one would drive countless people to risk their lives in pursuit.

And as divine artifacts, their level naturally surpassed that of demigods.

“Either way, it’s troublesome,” Yan Hong said.

“It should be the first possibility.” The representative from the Bounty Hunters’ Association, who had remained silent until now, finally spoke.

Everyone turned to look at her. Judging by her appearance, she seemed to be the youngest present, perhaps just in her early twenties.

“Why do you say that?” Yan Hong asked. The woman still wore a mask—mysterious and untrustworthy at first glance.

Yet her voice sounded strangely familiar.

“I have my sources,” the masked woman said.

Highly suspicious, Yan Hong thought.

“Can you elaborate? It’s difficult to trust you otherwise,” a representative from another organization said.

“No.” The woman refused bluntly. “But I can explain the artifact more clearly. Its primary function is to issue commands.”

“Issue… commands?” The representatives looked confused. What use was that?

“As long as the commands are followed, they will lead to outcomes favorable to them. It also seems capable of interfering with abilities related to fate affinity. That is all I know.”

After she finished speaking, everyone fell into thought. It was the first time they had heard of such an artifact.

“A Fate-affinity artifact? The Omniscient Scholars’ Association has never heard of such a thing,” Colton said.

“So the two previous attacks on the three great families were all the result of the artifact’s commands?” someone speculated.

“It feels like the enemy’s actions have become unpredictable.”

Voices rose as people offered their thoughts.

“Wait. You’re all just going to believe her? What proof do you have that what you’re saying is true?” someone questioned.

“None. What, do you expect me to steal the artifact and bring it here for you to see?” the masked woman replied.

“At present, she’s the only one with any leads. Unless someone else has information to offer?” Colton said.

No one responded, though Yan Hong seemed to have some thoughts.

“Madam Diviner, could you tell us those nodes that are certain to occur?”

The suggestion was unanimously accepted. Even if Sibelyna spoke vaguely, at least it would give them some sense of direction.

However, unexpectedly, this time Sibelyna’s prophecy was unusually clear.

“Mr. Yan, your new weapon will not escape the fate of explosion.”

In an era where the gods have vanished, Affinity Users have become the rulers of the world.

Mo Ying, a descendant of the gods, lost everything four years ago in an explosion and a web of conspiracies.

Four years later, she returns to her hometown to take part in a grand event attended by all major factions.

Yet beneath the celebration lies a crisis that threatens everyone’s lives—one that is also tied to the incident from four years ago.

“Perfect. I’ll take care of revenge and resolve the crisis at the same time.” Mo Ying, now far stronger than before, remains utterly unshaken.

At the same time, her ex-boyfriend—the one who once pushed her into the abyss—asks timidly, “Are you going to kill me?”

Having just dealt with several of her enemies, Mo Ying smiles.

“That depends on my mood.”
