Elyndor: eyes of the unseen

The Aftermath of Fire

The Aftermath of Fire

Mar 28, 2026

The Aftermath of Fire
The night burned.

And

Only silence remained.

Smoke drifted slowly through the ruins of Sian Village.

Broken lanterns flickered weakly on the ground, their flames dying with the night. Burnt wood cracked softly under fading embers. The battlefield, once alive with chaos, now stood still.

Bodies lay scattered across the village.

Some of soldiers.

One of shadows.

All unmoving.

---

Commander Smith stood at the center of it all, his sharp gaze sweeping across the destruction.

Beside him, Valen stepped forward calmly.

“I don’t think bringing one shadow down affected the others,” Valen said.

Smith didn’t look at him.

“It didn’t,” he replied.

A pause.

“But it was enough… to raise the morale of our soldiers.”

---

Below, the battlefield still breathed faintly.

Fires from shattered lanterns spread across broken streets, small flames crawling through wood and debris.

And among those scattered fires—

Another fire moved.

Not of flame.

But of battle.

---

Archers remained positioned in the trees, firing carefully—trying to keep the shadows separated.

On the ground, soldiers advanced in coordinated waves, surrounding and attacking.

Among them—

Vihaan.

Eryx.

And a small group of elite fighters.

---

They moved together.

Perfect rhythm.

No wasted motion.

One attacked—

The other followed.

Pressure from both sides.

But the shadow they faced—

Blocked everything.

Every strike.

Every angle.

Every attempt.

---

Above them, Liorin moved between branches.

Silent.

Precise.

Her arrows cut through the air—

Not to kill.

But to create openings.

To disrupt.

To control space.

---

But it wasn’t enough.

The shadow adapted.

Deflected.

Survived.

---

Then—

Vihaan’s gaze shifted upward.

Toward Liorin.

---

For a brief second—

Their eyes met.

---

Vihaan tapped his foot lightly against the ground.

A small signal.

Almost invisible.

---

But Liorin understood.

---

Her stance changed.

Her breathing slowed.

Her next arrow—

Aimed lower.

---

THWIP.

---

The arrow struck.

Not the chest.

Not the head.

The foot.

---

The shadow’s movement broke.

Just for a moment—

But it was enough.

---

Eryx moved instantly.

A powerful strike shattered the balance.

Vihaan followed.

Clean.

Precise.

---

Steel flashed.

---

The shadow fell.

Silent.

---

No cheers followed.

No victory cry.

Because the battle—

Was not over yet.

---

The group moved again.

Toward another shadow.

---

Liorin followed from above—

But then—

She stopped.

---

Her eyes moved across the battlefield.

Burning houses.

Broken streets.

Bodies of fallen soldiers.

Cries of the injured echoing faintly through the air.

---

And suddenly—

She wasn’t there anymore.

---

A memory flashed.

A little girl.

Sitting alone.

Crying.

Surrounded by fire.

Beside a lifeless body.

---

Liorin’s grip loosened.

Her body stilled.

Unaware.

Unmoving.

---

A blade cut through the air.

Fast.

Silent.

Straight toward her.

---

She didn’t react.

---

Then—

A blur.

---

“LIO!”

---

Eryx.

---

He crashed into her from the side, pushing her off the branch.

The blade sliced past—

Missing by a breath.

---

They landed hard.

---

Eryx turned instantly, eyes sharp.

“What is wrong with you?!”

---

Liorin blinked once.

Then again.

Her breathing steadied.

“…I’m fine.”

---

Without waiting—

She jumped back onto another branch.

Focused again.

Cold again.

---

Eryx stared for a moment.

Then turned—

And ran back toward the fight.

---

Far away—

Another shadow fell.

---

Then another.

---

One by one—

The nine shadows collapsed.

Until—

Only silence remained.

---

By morning—

The chaos was gone.

---

Bodies were gathered into one place.

The injured were carried for treatment.

Soldiers sat scattered across the ground—

Catching their breath.

Recovering.

Surviving.

---

Commander Smith stepped forward once more.

His voice steady.

“We move.”

A pause.

“To Zayne Land Village.”

---

The soldiers slowly rose.

Mounted their horses.

And began moving.

---

The journey was quiet.

No one spoke.

Only the sound of hooves echoed across the open land.

---

Hours later—

They arrived.

---

Zayne Land Village.

---

The gates stood open.

Villagers had gathered.

Waiting.

Watching.

---

As the soldiers entered—

Relief spread across their faces.

Whispers followed.

“They came back…”

“We’re safe…”

---

An old man stepped forward and bowed deeply.

Others followed.

One by one.

---

Respect.

Gratitude.

Silence.

---

Commander Smith raised his hand.

“We will stay here for the day.”

“Provide shelter for the injured.”

“Food for the unit.”

---

A villager nodded quickly.

“Everything is ready, Commander.”

---

The soldiers moved inside.

Heavy steps.

Tired bodies.

---

Team 111 followed behind.

Eryx stretched his arms.

“If I don’t get food right now, I might actually die.”

Liorin replied calmly,

“You won’t.”

“…I might.”

---

Vihaan didn’t respond.

---

His steps slowed.

---

Something caught his attention.

---

To the side—

A house.

Burnt.

Collapsed.

Blackened by fire.

---

Vihaan stopped.

Just for a second.

---

His eyes fixed on it.

Something stirred within him.

Unclear.

Unspoken.

---

Eryx’s voice came from ahead—

“Vihaan! Are you coming?”

---

The moment broke.

---

Vihaan blinked.

Turned.

And walked forward.

---

But behind him—

The burnt house remained.

Silent.

Waiting.

---

And somewhere deep inside—

A story had begun to awaken.

The battlefield falls silent… but the war is far from over.

As the last of the Nine Shadows collapse, Team 111 faces the aftermath of a brutal night—burning ruins, fallen soldiers, and wounds that go deeper than the surface.

But victory comes at a cost.

A single moment of hesitation nearly changes everything… and not all scars are visible.

As the unit retreats to Zayne Land Village, they are welcomed as heroes—yet something feels off.

For Vihaan, one glance at a half-burnt house is enough to awaken a past he cannot ignore.

And while the soldiers rest…

The next storm is already forming.
