Ten seconds ago, the base was located on a concrete yard within an urban area. But due to the telecoins magic, it was now situated near an empty forest. While the temperature of the interior stayed the same, the exterior was a different story. Strings of cold breeze swept past the vehicle. Some of them rammed into the walls and left behind grains of snow. Narvy, Rita, Elsa and Oliver immediately knew their mission worked as soon as they looked out of the window. "Oliver, can we explore this place?" asked Narvy. "I suppose you can, but please make sure you're warm, and don't walk too far from the base," answered Oliver. "Thank you," replied Narvy as he approached the door. "Have fun," commented Oliver. "You're not coming?" asked Narvy. "No, I'd rather stay here," explained Oliver. "Okay, see you soon," replied Narvy.
As soon as he opened the door, the wind blew it away from the frame. It would have flown across the horizon had it not been secured by hinges. Narvy, Rita and Elsa all went outside. Together, they pushed the door with all of their strength, until it locked into the frame. "So, what do we do now?" asked Elsa. "I was thinking we could go into that forest," replied Narvy. "We might find some interesting stuff," he added. "Sounds good, but I don't want to be out here for too long," commented Rita.
At that moment, all three of them ventured into the forest. Upon entering, they were greeted with tall trees in every direction. All of them had snow on their branches, but only some of them had leaves. Ten minutes later, Narvy, Rita and Elsa found a riverbank. The water was a deep midnight blue, and clumps of snow floated on top of it. "What did you want to look for?" asked Elsa. "Actually, I didn't have anything in mind," answered Narvy. "I just thought it would be cool to get to know this place before we do our mission a-," he explained before getting interrupted. He felt something cold hit him. He quickly realized what it was and turned around.
"Rita?" he asked. "Sorry, it's just that it never snows in Fluvaria, if Edward was here, he would have done the same thing to me," explained Rita. Just then, Elsa created a snowball and threw it at Rita. "Like that?" she asked smugly. "Yes," replied Rita. Narvy got down and scooped a pile of snow off the ground. After rolling it into a ball, he threw it at Elsa. "No, I just got this coat," stated Elsa before wiping the snow off with her hand. "That's what happens in a snowball fight," commented Narvy. "But this isn't really a fight," stated Elsa. "It is now," announced Narvy as he ducked down to grab more snow.
Within a couple of seconds, the conversation transformed into a fight. Narvy, Rita and Elsa all threw snowballs at each other while getting hit with snow themselves. At one point, Narvy hid behind some trees and used them as shields. While doing this, he threw snow at Rita and Elsa when they least expected it. However, they were not without their own tactics. Rita created a snow trench for herself, and Elsa crossed the river, making it harder for the others to reach her. Time flew by very quickly. But eventually, the three of them realized something.
"How long have we been out here for?" asked Rita. Narvy didn't have a watch on hand, all he could do was make an estimate. "I don't know, an hour maybe?" answered Narvy with uncertainty. "We should probably go back now," suggested Rita. "Good idea," replied Narvy. "Elsa, we're going back to the base now," called Rita. At that moment, Elsa crossed the river, using the same method she did before. Stepping on a couple of rocks that were in a particular arrangement. Once she got across everyone walked into the forest.
The three of them walked through crowds of snow-covered trees. It initially felt the same way it did previously, however, that suddenly changed. The breeze began to feel colder and stronger than it did before. Snowflakes flew in unpredictable directions, and the surroundings became a lot more hazy. In the middle of it all, Rita developed an idea. "Do you want to run?" she proposed. "In this fog, no," answered Narvy. "It's really cold out here, I think it's our best option if we want to go back to the base as soon as possible," explained Rita. Without arguing, Narvy and Elsa joined her on a forest run. Nobody ran into a tree since the dark brown trunks were visible amongst the pale snow and sky.
After five more minutes, Narvy, Rita and Elsa left the forest. Tall brown shafts were no longer the dark highlights in the fog. Instead, it was a large green box with wheels underneath it. Everyone knew what it was, so they all ran towards it. Upon opening the door, it blasted open as if it was trying to whack them. Narvy, Rita and Elsa all jumped into the base as quickly as they could. Once they were inside, they combined their strength in an effort to shut the door. After a few seconds of heavy pulling, they successfully closed it.
"How did it go out there?" asked Oliver. "Really well," answered Narvy. "We just walked into the nearby forest and explored the surroundings," he added. "Alright," replied Oliver. "We also had an epic snowball fight, you can thank me for that," commented Rita. "You had a snowball fight, wasn't this supposed to be a research trip?" asked Oliver. "Yeah, but it never snows in Fluvaria, might as well make the most of it while we have it," explained Rita. "That's fair enough, but don't lose sight of why you came here and make sure to stay safe and warm whenever we're out," explained Oliver. "Don't worry, we know what we're doing," replied Rita.
During the conversation, Oliver was in the kitchen, stirring something in a pot. It smelt good, so Narvy walked over to see what it was. "What are you making?" he asked. "Tomato soup," answered Oliver. "This recipe comes from one of Beth's cookbooks, she makes it every winter in Fluvaria, it's very healthy and delicious," he added. When Narvy looked into the pot, he saw a watery tomato broth, with carrots, celery, onions, croutons and pieces of bacon swimming around. "Looks nice," he commented. "When will it be ready?". "I'd say in about five minutes," answered Oliver.
Narvy, Rita and Elsa all went to the couch. They turned on the TV, hoping something interesting was playing. Unfortunately, they couldn't find anything super exciting, but they decided to flick through stations as a way to pass time. Eventually, Oliver's soup had finished cooking. He divided it into four bowls and put them on the table. Upon noticing, Narvy, Rita and Elsa all walked over and sat down. The soup looked different than it did previously. The scarlet broth had slightly thickened and every bowl was garnished with something. "What did you put on top?" asked Elsa. "Parmesan cheese and coriander," answered Oliver. "Trust me, it's so good when the cheese melts into the soup," he added.
Dinner went by quickly, as everyone enjoyed the warm hearty soup. It got darker outside by the second, but Narvy, Rita, Elsa and Oliver all decided to stay up for a few more hours. Eventually they all agreed to get some sleep. Before doing so, they turned on the heat pump that was mounted to the wall. The beds may have been on the second floor, but everyone hoped the warm air would travel up from the first floor. Not like it mattered since all of the beds were decked with many thick blankets. Even though everyone was snug in their bed, they could still sense the cold wind sliver past the vehicle. What they were more interested in was the current status of the other group.
The Braw Agents were just having an ordinary day. Walking around town, eating snacks and watching TV in the mild weather. But it won't be like that for long. It turns out that two mysterious emperors are trying to eclipse the world into hot and cold halves. Why would they do this? and will the world succumb to a humid and frosty fate?
