For the next forty minutes, Oliver drove the base across The Moonlands. It was not easy. The terrain was very slippery, and the windscreen kept getting littered with snow and fog, even with the wipers on the strongest setting. During the ride, the base also had to push through a mighty blizzard. Everyone could feel the walls shake while Oliver was driving. Narvy sat on one of the couches, staring at the window. There wasn't much of a point to this since everyone was hidden under a grey sky and tons of fog.
Suddenly, Narvy spotted something in the cold mist. It was a large dark brown shape that resembled a house. What stood out more were the touches of bright yellow light near it. "Oliver, I saw something," called Narvy after they already passed it. "What was it?" asked Oliver. "I don't know but we have to turn back," explained Narvy. "We don't have time to look at it, we have to go to the castle," stated Oliver. "Can you please turn back, it looked like a house, it might actually have something useful," claimed Narvy. "I'll try, as soon as I figure out where we are," replied Oliver. He couldn't see much, but he appeared to be driving on an empty field. He carefully turned around like there was an invisible roundabout, and left a circle in the thick snow. From there, Oliver kept his eye out for a small house in the middle of the fog. "Is that the one you were talking about?" he asked as he stopped the bus. "Yes," answered Narvy.
When everyone got out, they were greeted with a large wooden cabin behind a log fence. The icy mist obscured all of the finer details. Narvy, Rita, Elsa and Oliver all walked through the opening in the fence. Upon approaching the cabin, Narvy knocked on the door. "Hello, welcome to Coppice Village, what brings you four here today?" greeted the man who opened the door. He was in his mid-fifties and had short auburn hair, with strands of grey bleeding through. He was wearing a long thick brown coat with a defined beige fur collar, along with grey trousers and black boots. "Do you accept visitors?" asked Narvy. "What for?" asked the man. "It's a lengthy subject," explained Narvy. "Can we come in?". "Sure thing, get yourselves warm," encouraged the man.
The interior of the cabin was spacious and had a large fur rug on the ground. In one of the walls was a brick fireplace, burning all of the wood unlucky enough to be there. "This is our town hall, I'm Cecil, the mayor of this village," explained the man. "What is it that you want to talk about?" he asked. "It's about that castle on the mountain," stated Narvy. Cecil raised his eyebrows. "We're from Fluvaria, we came here because we heard about strange things happening in the castle,". "On our way here, we found this village, and we thought you might know more than we do," explained Narvy. "You mean the castle on Mount Unhaie?, I've heard there's a very beautiful view up there," replied Cecil. "Yes?" replied Narvy with uncertainty. "We're a crime fighting team, and we suspect the person in there is up to something."
"I'm not entirely sure what you're doing, but if you have time, I can give you a tour of our village," recommended Cecil. "Should we do it?" asked Narvy to Oliver. "Sure, I don't see why not," he answered. "Alright, follow me," ordered Cecil.
As he guided The Braw Agents out of the cabin, they left through the opposite side they came in. Outside, there was a large deck that extended into a blocky U shape. It was surrounding a large thick tree that didn't seem to have many leaves. The five of them weren't there for long, as they quickly walked towards the back end of the village. "These are our residential cabins, they provide great warmth for our citizens," explained Cecil as he walked across the paved snowy path. Narvy, Rita, Elsa and Oliver saw a bunch of cabins that looked just like the town hall, albeit a lot smaller. When they walked to the other side of the village complex, the buildings appeared a lot less repetitive.
"This is our marketplace," stated Cecil. "Our villagers work here in order to ensure a comfortable life for everyone," he added. The Braw Agents were shown many different things. Such as a butchery, a carpet maker and a firewood chopping deck. "What kind of meat is that?" asked Rita. "We have all kinds of stuff, like lamb, pork, chicken and fish," explained Cecil. "It's too cold to grow vegetables around here regularly, but we still try to grow them when we can," he added. "How do the citizens stay healthy?" asked Rita. "They eat lots of meat, dairy and berries from the forest, all of those things have protein and vitamins," answered Cecil.
Shortly after, he directed them back to the place they skipped initially. "This right here is our most prized possession," gushed Cecil. "The Blizzard Oakrus, we believe it spreads good fortune across the village," he proudly explained. "Unfortunately, it has been losing many leaves in the past four months, and they don't seem to be growing back," he explained with his tone shifting from delight to sorrow. "We're very lucky we found someone willing to help us," he stated. "That's good, who's helping you?" asked Narvy. "We don't know much about him, but he goes by the name, The Ice Emperor,". "We're providing him with resources in exchange for money that can go towards the tree's revival," explained Cecil.
Narvy, Rita, Elsa and Oliver all bounced eyes off each other, thinking the same things. "Is something wrong?" asked Cecil earnestly. "Does he live in the castle on Mount Unhaie?," demanded Narvy. "He didn't say where his residence was," defended Cecil. "Trust me, we have no ill intentions." While Narvy continued to talk to Cecil, Oliver went to the back of the deck with Rita and Elsa. "What are we going to do?" whispered Rita. "We'll stand here and listen to the conversation, then we'll make a run back to the base," whispered Oliver. The three of them stood by, pretending not to pay attention. But they could hear everything. "It's always cold around here, it's no big deal," stated Cecil. "Yes, but the cold snaps are starting to go beyond The Moonlands," explained Narvy. "If we don't stop him, one half of the world could end up like this,". "Our tree is vital to the spirit of our village, we need it for good fortune," begged Cecil. "I understand, but please find another solution, like contacting an environmental agency or something," commented Narvy.
After that, Rita gave him a gesture to come over. "Let's leave," she whispered. At that moment, Narvy, Rita, Elsa and Oliver walked back into the cabin. "Where are you going?" asked Cecil upon noticing. They weren't in the town hall for long, as they quickly left through the other side. The weather was still rather cold, however there wasn't much fog. The trees and wooden fence could be seen clearly, but more importantly the base. Everyone rushed towards it, hoping to get warm as soon as possible.
"What was the name of that mountain again?" asked Oliver. "Mount Unhaie," answered Narvy. "Okay, hopefully there's some signs around here," replied Oliver. The path might have been clear, but there was always a chance the fog would come back and murk the area. Oliver still held onto the wishful strategy as he turned on the base and left the area.
The Braw Agents were just having an ordinary day. Walking around town, eating snacks and watching TV in the mild weather. But it won't be like that for long. It turns out that two mysterious emperors are trying to eclipse the world into hot and cold halves. Why would they do this? and will the world succumb to a humid and frosty fate?
