Thirty-two years ago, a set of twins were born. Flint and Issac. Their eyes shined right into their mother's heart. She raised them with unconditional love, however, there was a major complication.
Throughout their early childhood, the two of them had trouble dealing with temperatures. Flint was full of energy on the hottest days but very lethargic during the rest of the year. Meanwhile Issac only managed to thrive when the weather was near freezing. Concerned for their health, she took them to a specialist where they were both diagnosed with an extremely rare illness. From there, Flint and Issac's home became as controlled and sealed off as a hospital.
In spite of the unfortunate circumstances, the two of them still got along relatively well when they were children and teenagers. Once they reached adulthood, things started to change.
Flint and Issac went to university, studying biology and economics respectively. The first three weeks were normal, or at least as normal as their temperature-controlled lives could get. One quiet Tuesday evening, Flint returned back to the dorm after eating a curry at a nearby restaurant. Issac was at the table, holding a strange book. It was large, thick and had a brown leather cover. The front had two gems embroidered onto it. One in a fierce red and the other in a deep blue. Right next to him lay a bunch of ripped packaging paper and a note.
"What did you buy?" asked Flint casually. "I didn't buy this, it just came in the mail while you were gone," explained Issac. "What is it?" asked Flint. "I don't know," swore Issac.
As Issac opened the book, Flint grabbed the note near it. The message was written on a clean white sheet with what appeared to be modern pen ink. "It's a shame you two were born the way you were, but don't feel bad, embrace your rare traits and use them to the fullest," read the cryptic note. Issac flipped through all of the books yellow fraying pages. On them were instructions on how to master various ancient spells relating to fire magic and ice magic.
Thinking it would be a good thing to occupy their spare time. Flint and Issac began to practice sorcery. Overtime, Flint developed many new abilities, such as the power to raise temperatures, the ability to make flames out of thin air and the power to manipulate said flames to his will. Issac was not without his own new skills; He learned how to freeze objects and create shards of ice with his bare hands. Over the months, the two of them continued to receive cryptic letters from the same unknown person.
One particular letter challenged Flint and Issac's relationship. Upon picking it up, Issac encountered some very unusual words. "You're both great at sorcery, but there can only be fire or ice," Flint and Issac were already starting to drift apart, as they became invested in different career ideas. The sorcery lessons were the main thing keeping them together. Once Flint heard about the letter. Issac challenged him to see who could become the more powerful sorcerer. Flint accepted the challenge and the two of them became rivals. From now on, Flint called himself The Fire Emperor, while Issac called himself The Ice Emperor.
Throughout the next year and a half, they would both research artifacts that had potential to come in handy. Two of them stood out, like diamonds in the rough. Those being the staff of the eternal sun and everlasting moon. The two staffs looked almost identical, with their long black stature and their detailed handles. The only thing differentiating them was the colour of their tip gem. One of them had a vibrant red gem while the other had a blue one. Both emperors were determined to find the staffs, assuming they held great power.
Eventually, the two of them moved to desolate locations suiting their body type. The Fire Emperor found a large smoking crater in the middle of the sunlands and decided to call it home. Even though it took a while, he was satisfied with the spacious castle he built. Meanwhile, The Ice Emperor climbed to the top of Mount Unhaie and marked his home above the frigid plains. Upon discovering Copice Village, he commissioned them to build a large, homely castle on the mountain peak.
One humid fateful day, The Fire Emperor left his castle to go on a walk across The Sunlands. He knew the staff was located somewhere in the area, and had spent ages on previous walks trying to find it. He hadn't seen any sign of a staff, but he was still determined to find it. When he least expected it he found something buried in the sand. It was a valuable black staff, with a glimmering red crystal, the very thing he had desired for a long time. Seven months ago, The Ice Emperor was also hit with extremely good luck. His staff washed up on a riverbed during one of his night walks.
Once they both had their staffs, the two emperors started to put their elaborate plans into action. Sorcery lessons became more frequent than ever, and the two of them always sent letters to one another. In case they would ever need to meet in person, both emperors created directional tombs in their respective biomes, keeping the castles' locations secret to the public. Every day, the two got closer to achieving their goals of splitting the world into a hot half and a cold half. Once that was done, they planned on going to the Renses Hills, a place divided by the weather, where the two emperors could battle it out once and for all.
In the present, The Ice Emperor was done explaining his life story to the Braw Agents. "So, you're doing all this stuff just so you can have a fight with your brother?", asked Narvy. "Our illnesses are the reason we can't just go to the hills; we need the weather to be in our favour to ensure the best performances," explained The Ice Emperor ignorantly. "You do realise that a lot of us could suffer from this type of weather," demanded Narvy. "Just put on more layers if it bugs you that much," scoffed The Ice Emperor. "Or carry a fan with you if you're near my brother." "I understand your illness might be hard to deal with, but you don't have to fall for manipulation," explained Oliver passionately. "Perhaps figure out another way to live your life." As the Braw Agents walked out of the throne room, The Ice Emperor called to them. "I can't let you go, you four know way too much." Rita turned to him. "YOU TOLD US YOUR LIFE STORY," she shrieked in confusion and annoyance.
The Ice Emperor got off his throne and ran towards them. Narvy, Rita, Elsa and Oliver all made a run for it. The four of them were chased around the castle's hallways for a short while until they reached a small room. The Braw Agents decided to use it as a hiding place, but that idea immediately got thrown out the window, since The Ice Emperor showed up. His staff glowed a mystical azure and shot a blast at the window, it was now encased in a chunk of ice. "HA HA, you missed," teased Elsa, thinking the blast was supposed to hit them. Shortly after, The Ice Emperor shot the floor with a spell and dragged it across the door frame. A giant block of ice separated him from The Braw Agents trapping them in the room.
"Any ideas on how to escape," suggested Narvy after he heard The Ice Emperor walk away. "I've got one," announced Rita. She walked up to the door frame and started to smash the ice with her climbing equipment. "He didn't take any of our supplies, let's message the other group and let them know about the emperors," insisted Oliver. Narvy took out his phone and began writing a message. He didn't know how much progress the other team had made, but he thought they needed the new information.
The Braw Agents were just having an ordinary day. Walking around town, eating snacks and watching TV in the mild weather. But it won't be like that for long. It turns out that two mysterious emperors are trying to eclipse the world into hot and cold halves. Why would they do this? and will the world succumb to a humid and frosty fate?
